Dr Rania at infinity clinic is fantastic. She is British trained and a mother of two herself.

Dr Oksuz is excellent. She was my OB and delivered my twins earlier this year. We loved her and found her completely professional as well as engaging/very likeable. Couldn't recommend her more highly. She specialised in high risk pregnancies in Germany and I was recommended her by a friend. I think she used to deliver at both City and American Hospitals but now only delivers at American. She told me it was possible to have a natural birth with twins at the very start but I ended up having a scheduled c-section due to complications. I did feel a little bit like she preferred a c-section given it was more planned and she could schedule it into her diary but at the end of the day, I always felt like I was in great hands and trusted her 100%

Thanks for the responses. We fly out one week before the 120 day period expires and haven't had a chance to sort out baby visas. I found out that we needed to get an out pass stamped into passport for both babies and this is all sorted now. Process below for others who might be in similar situation (baby born in Dubai, exiting Dubai less than 120 days after their birth and don't have UAE residency visa yet) Take the below to immigration (next to Bur Dubai police station) Copy of fathers passport and visa Copy of mothers passport and visa Original passport of baby Copy of eticket for baby AED 130 fee Original birth certificate

Hi there The airport you fly into is called Denpasar Airport. Not sure about direct flights from here as ive only ever flown direct from Oz. Def avoid Kuta. The most popular tourist area in Bali is probably Seminyak. Beach, heaps of great villas to choose from and fantastic bars/restaurants and shopping. There's a great spa called Bodyworks and you should try a restaurant called Chandi. Bars such as Kudeta and Potato Head are always reliable (great cocktails). Ubud is gorgeous and worth seeing but that is more cultural ie monkey forest etc and if you're going for a hens, I think Seminyak would be best. I'm heading back to Bali in Sep for a wedding. The hens is also there. We're planning brunch at the W hotel, massages by my villa pool then dinner and drinks.

If you only want someone on casual/part time basis you'll have to go through a cleaning company and there are heaps to choose from. Before we hired a live in helper, we used a company called Pretty Polly. We requested the same cleaner each week. Her name was Maryann and she was great but I think she's left now. They charge 30 AED an hour. We booked 2 hours to clean a 2 bed apartment ( no ironing).

I had my twins 3 months ago. My OB was Dr Oksuz who works at Healthbay Polyclinic and delivers out of American Hospital. She specialises in high risk pregnancies and has delivered heaps of twins here and in Germany. I had complications and was on bedrest for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. My babies came at 35 + 5 days and one of them spent a week in NICU. I can't speak more highly of Dr Oksuz and the care I received from her. Also, Dr Sridhar the neonatologist and the NICU nurses at AHD were outstanding. One thing to note is AHD doesn't accept preemie babies less than 28 weeks. They send them to Latifa. Also AHD give free car seats to parents who deliver twins. We'd already bought ours but it was a lovely gesture.

She is back in the country. We gave her chance to set things straight and be honest with us but she just talked more nonsense. My husband taking her to cancel visa tomorrow. If we cancel her visa that doesn't automatically ban her does it? He is in charge of all of that. I am going to check classifieds here to see if she's posted job ad. Obviously I can't name her here but she's 36 yo, Filipina, has 3 kids and def not getting a reference from us. She only started with us in March so she will prob just lie and not include her time with us when talking about her experience. Banning her is only way of making sure she can't take advantage of someone else.

I've changed to size 2 teats and my husband gives him the bottle and this seems to be ok. He will refuse the bottle from me though.

Yes that was me. Not sure if it's formula as he refuses the bottle when it's got breast milk in it too. Will check re reflux although other baby has silent reflux and I thought this baby was the reflux free one so we'll see. Thankyou kiwispiers

Whereintheworld - good luck with your move back. As a small aside, my husband and I are looking for a nanny to join our family and help take care of our twin boys (nearly 3 months old). We are an Australian family and last helper didn't work out (very long story). Given that experience, we are looking for recommendations on nannies from families relocating who wish to help their nanny find a good new home to work in. If you do move back and don't /aren't able to take your nanny back with you, I would love to speak with her. Thankyou :)

Recently introduced formula for the 10pm feed of my twins. All other night feeds are bottles of expressed breast milk. Unfortunately this appears to have backfired in that one twin (the very sleepy one) now wakes 3 times in the night post this feed instead of once like he used to (NB. This sudden increase in night time waking may have nothing to do with the introduction of formula - It's just started happening and I noticed it coincided with the intro of formula but the events may be unrelated) I turn the lights on to wake them at 10pm (they usually wake and feed between 1015pm - 11pm) then feed on demand for the rest of the night. Since introducing formula at 10pm, sleepy baby will wake for the next feed around 1am but only drink around 90mls (normally will have 120-160mls) before falling into a deep sleep from which I can't wake him from. Last night he then got up after the 1am feed at 4am, only managed 25mls before going into deep sleep so woke at 5am hungry again. I've tried tickling, undressing and even wiping face/hands/feet with cold wash cloth but nothing appears to rouse him. I might tickle him enough to take one more suck but not able to keep him awake long enough to finish a full feed. Really need ideas to help address this as having one twin wake 3 times in the night means what little sleep I was getting has become virtually no sleep! Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone experienced a similar thing with their baby please?

How do you report someone as absconded? (Sorry am so clueless! Am also new to this site I even had to look up what 'OP' stood for!) She has her passport, labour card, emirates ID with her. We only have photocopies of those documents. I don't think we can do anything until she is back in the country? And yes, such a pity that such deceitful individuals exist out there when there are plenty of honest hardworking people. Just my luck to hire a bad egg! JulesLC - no she's not Sri Lankan. Sorry to hear re your situation and hope yours doesn't end up mirroring what is happening to me!

Thanks for all the responses. It is so hard as part of me doesn't want to believe that I was so comprehensively fooled and also feels pity for these ladies who have to leave their own babies behind to look after some one else's babies in order to support their families.p At the end of the day she's lost my trust and I can't have her take care of my babies if I don't trust her 100% Still unsure re course of action to take but will discuss with husband and we will decide together. Appreciate the support and advice.

The surgery was performed at American Hospital. We only went to his consulting room in Deira for the initial consultation and then the follow up one week after the surgery. I can't remember the surgery cost sorry as American Hospital required preapproval from my health insurance before they would schedule the operation. American Hospital insurance department liaised directly with my insurance company. Hope this helps

Hi there Not the same medical condition but i have a recommendation for a surgeon for your son. My 2 month old had an inguinal hernia at 5 weeks old. It required urgent surgery which was performed by Dr Jaouni. He is a paediatric surgeon based in Deira. He operates out of American Hospital and was absolutely fantastic. When we went to see our paediatrician one week after my sons's surgery (for his 6 week checkup), she couldn't even see the scar from his surgery.

Julie from Dubai Doulas is a UK trained nurse and midwife. She is excellent and can come in for a few hours here and there to help out. Contact her by googling Dubai Doulas. Heath Bay is my medical clinic and I also did my antenatal classes there. Their midwives are outstanding. You can buy their home visit service in a group of 3 visits but this is more for weighing your baby, helping with breastfeeding, checking how you are going etc. if you want assistance more along the lines of helping you take care of your baby, they have a midwife homecare service you can pay for but you need to commit to a minimum number of sessions (I think it's 14).

Has anyone used the services of Emirates Home Nursing to look after newborns? If so how did you find their staff? Their website says their childcare staff (they call them healthcare assistants) are "qualified nurses and licensed in their home country". Any feedback/advice from people who've used this service would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a night nurse to help with young babies please? We have one month old twins and need some help with bottle feeding through the night so my husband and I take it in turns to get some sleep! Thanks

I had my twins at American Hospital 3 weeks ago. The staff were excellent. The babies were preemie and spent time in NICU. The neonatologist Dr Sridhar was excellent as were the nursing staff in NICU headed up by Melissa. The lactation consultant Naz was an amazing help to me. These are my first babies so I've never experienced any other hospitals in Dubai but would recommend American without a doubt

If anyone is still looking, I would highly recommend Carolyn King from Al Futtaim logistics We used them last year to move apartments and were extremely satisfied with their work.

I used PrettyPolly and was happy with the girl they sent (ended up requesting her each week). They are a cleaning company. You have to book them for a minimum of 2 hours at a time. We had them come in once a week for 3 hours to clean a 3 bedroom apartment (no ironing). They charge 30 AED per hour if you provide your own vacuum and own cleaning products. If you need them to bring a vacuum cleaner, use their mops/detergents etc I think it's an extra 15 AED. I always preferred them to use my mop etc rather than a communal mop that's cleaned other people's places. They also offer a more intensive cleaning service ie after a party or if you're moving out/into a new place.

I don't think you need a specific seatbelt for pregnant ladies? I am pregnant, currently have a 45 inch waist and the standard car seatbelt fits me fine. You place it under your bump not around it....

Sometimes it's almost better if they refuse to take you? I'm pregnant and have caught taxis to travel short distances. The drivers didn't ask me before I get into the car where I'm going but as soon as I sit in the back and ask them to take me to X, they mutter / swear in another language and drive very erratically and aggressively and make me feel completely unsafe in the car. I have had some very lovely taxi drivers in Dubai - who have chatted pleasantly and been very kind regardless of the distance I'm travelling but unfortunately the majority have been horrible and made me concerned for my own safety whilst in their cars!!

We've just hired a maid. This is the first time I've hired a helper. She now has her residency visa, Emirates ID and her Domestic Worker card but asked me about her medical card. Is this something I'm supposed to arrange for her or should she have received it after she completed her medical test? I've not done this before so have no idea! Any assistance greatly appreciated.

To register newborn http://www.dubai.ae/en/Lists/HowToGuide/DispForm.aspx?ID=33 To obtain residency visa http://www.dubai.ae/en/Lists/HowToGuide/DispForm.aspx?ID=12 I've also heard of Baby Steps Dubai. I had a look on their website and they charge 570 AED to register the birth of your newborn (according to the first link above it would cost you 395 AED - probably a bit more as the costs listed on the government site are as of 2011) so it doesn't cost that much more to have Baby Steps do it for you and save you the running around. BUT when it comes to obtaining a residency visa, the fee to do it yourself (again this is the 2011 fee rate per the government website) is apparently 315 AED for a two year visa but Baby Steps quote their fee as 1510 AED? That seems like a massive markup. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something ie are there additional costs to obtain a visa for your baby that are not listed on the government website? Has anyone obtained their child's residency visa themselves recently and can provide an idea of the 2013 fee to do this directly? Thanks

Hi Dubai City Chick I don't have a dermatologist in Dubai to recommend but as someone who has suffered very bad eczema since childhood, I do have a non cortisone based cream to recommend. It's made by an Australian company but you can buy it online and have it shipped here. The company is called Moo Goo and if you google them, you can read lots of reviews from people who've used their products. Their products are all natural and don't contain nasties like paraben, mineral oil etc which can further irritate sensitive skin. I use a whole bunch of their products as I have super sensitive skin and lots of allergies but I specifically use their Eczema & Psorisis balm for my eczema. I have no connection to the company (other than being a massive fan as their products have worked so well for me) and have recommended their products to friends. I'm massively anti cortisone based creams and ointments as the side effects are no good and they're not recommended for long term use (some of the skin on my hands from where I used to repeatedly apply cortisone creams as a child is now permanently a different colour to the rest of my hands). I've found that my eczema is better in Dubai than in Australia where I'm from but it does flare up every now and then. I'm sure you already know things like not using normal soap on your son's skin, not bathing him in water that's too hot etc etc. Probably wise to see a dermatologist but if you want to try a natural product, def google Moo Goo. Over the years, I have been given so many natural eczema creams/lotions to try by well meaning family and friends and none have helped except Moo Goo's Eczema balm. Hope your son's skin gets better!

Hi Bex - I did a tour of the American Hospital labour ward 2 weeks ago as that is where I will have my babies. I enquired about the cost of NICU as I'm also having twins and have had complications so they will come out at 35-36 weeks and may need some special care. Apparently it costs a minimum of 4,000 AED a night for one baby in NICU. Hope that helps. Also, the midwife informed us that AHD do not accept preemie babies born under 28 weeks gestation. They send them to Latifa Hospital.
