I use Black & White in Motor City. They usually pick up same day and drop off 2 days later. No complaints so far.

How much exercise are you getting? A couple of years ago, I (at the tender age of 28) was feeling the same way - had a really hard time getting off the couch, tying my shoe laces, etc. I felt like a creaky old lady. I had been through a bit of a depression and hadn't really exercised at all for about 2 years. I wasn't overweight, just unfit. I decided to get fit again and started playing soccer and kickboxing regularly. The first couple of months were pretty awful (as it is anytime you're trying to get back into shape), but then all my aches and pains magically disappeared! I felt younger than ever and had more energy than I thought possible. I've got no idea what your particular issue is, just thought I'd share my experience.

They've been terrible! We've tried to sit outside at the golf club on a couple of occasions and had to go back in because I was being eaten alive. My legs and ankles are a mess.

Hubby and I are also both in our 30's with no kids, and we LOVE living in the Ranches. You can easily find a 3-bedroom for well within your budget. It's a nice community with beautiful landscaping and a great golf course, if you're into that. Our DEWA bills are quite reasonable (especially now that the weather is cooling), we can park our 2 cars outside (no waiting for elevators!), we never hear our neighbors, and we can have barbecues in our yard. Our only complaint is that it can be difficult to get a taxi if we want to go out for drinks. Could be worse!

Check on Dubizzle in the services section. I did that last week and randomly chose one of the many phone numbers. They showed up on time, carried the items out to their truck, followed us home and brought them inside. 200 dhs.

I can't offer any advice on transport, but have you considered Uptown Primary? Much closer for you, and I believe they still have spots available.

Thanks for your offer Yankeecamel, but I've managed to find a set through a colleague of my husband's. 300 dhs for a really nice, practically new set! Feels a bit like stealing, but I'll get over it :)

Thanks Nels. I actually work right near Mirdiff City Centre and had a look at Decathlon, but their women's selection was a bit lacking. Perhaps I will check out the apparel though! cmke: I may be interested in your old clubs. Please email me. Thanks! edited by MrsCanuck on 07/10/2012 edited by MrsCanuck on 07/10/2012

Thanks for the info! Hubby and I just joined Arabian Ranches club (hence the need to get some clubs soon!) and plan to golf together, so I'll definitely need my own clubs. How long did your clubs take to be shipped here? Sounds like ordering from the US might be the best option!

Yes. I went there last week hoping for some good old-fashioned Canadian customer service, but I was sadly mistaken. They sure know how to make you feel like a terrible inconvenience.

Thanks ladies! I went to the one in Arabian Ranches, as I live there and it's super convenient. HesterPB, I will try your lady next time - didn't realize I had other options in AR!

I live in Vancouver (though moving to Dubai in a month!), and it's true that everything is very expensive here. There are deals to be found though, if you look in the right places. Cafe au lait was correct about Burnaby and New Westminster, and there is also a new Skytrain line that goes to Richmond (slightly cheaper than Vancouver). If you'd prefer to stay in Vancouver in one of the nicer neighborhoods with good restaurants and scenery, try Kitsilano, Point Grey, Downtown, the West End, Coal Harbour, Yaletown, Gastown, Cambie, Main Street, or Commercial Drive. VRBO is a great website for finding vacation rentals, and there are also some deals to be found on Craigslist (http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/vac/). One other way to find deals is to check out those daily deal websites, as sometimes they have deals on accommodation in Vancouver. Try Groupon and Living Social -- those are the best IMO. Enjoy your trip! edited by MrsCanuck on 08/07/2012

I'm just like magik: total tomboy, always played with action figures, play contact sports, drink beer, etc. I struggled with dating for ages, and a friend suggested I needed to find a rugby player. He insisted that rugby guys love tomboys, and I'd have no trouble finding Mr Right if I looked for a rugby player. I rolled my eyes, told him he was an idiot, and figured I'd be alone forever. Now, years later, I'm happily married to a rugby player.

I agree with what Kittycat71 said. If the tables were turned, would you consider it cheating? If so then yes, it's cheating.

I have given up everything to follow him out here. If he's making you miserable, then it sounds to me like your'e giving up a lot just by being with him. I know it's terribly scary being newly single, but believe me: it's better than being stuck in a miserable relationship. Just think: there IS someone out there who is capable of treating you well and making you happy, and someone else is going to snap him up while you're waiting for Mr. Wrong to change. Stop wasting your time and energy, and start fresh on your own! Even if you don't meet someone else right away, or even at all, you will be so much happier! You can only change yourself, not someone else.

I'm new here and so far have only really been reading...but I felt I needed to reply to this. Here's my two cents: If it takes that much work to have a relationship with someone, it's NOT worth it! Sure, some people can change, but why waste x number of years of your life being miserable waiting for it to happen? I was once in a relationship with an abusive jerk, and he kept promising to change. I was very emotionally invested and kept sticking around, waiting for those changes to happen. Eventually, I realized I'd wasted 3 years on him and it was time to stop being miserable. I broke it off, and my life instantly improved. I told myself I'd rather be single than treated that way, and I was single for 5 years while I waited to find someone who didn't need to change in order to make me happy. I'm now happily married and SO glad I didn't keep waiting around for that jerk to change...I'd still be waiting!

I posted on another forum and got some feedback. I was advised to steer clear, as there is still a lot of construction around there, and a lot of the amenities that were promised (pools, gyms, etc) haven't come to fruition. Too bad, as the places look really nice!

Bump. I'm moving to Dubai in August and am considering this area. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
