I recently downloaded a digital book "The monster at the end of this book" for the ipad. It stars Grover from Sesame Street. My 4 year old loves it and it is very well put together. What I didn't realise was that it was written to help children get over the fear of monsters. It has lots of tip and tricks to deal with the problem. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/monster-at-end-this-book...starring/id409467802?mt=8

One of the ladies at the Arte souk told me that she sells via this online store in the UAE. There seems to be a lot of the locally based designers signing up. www.littlemajlis.com/ Yeah thats what I thought, argh! So annoying, just wondering how are people supposed to be entrepreneurs here unless they already have a lot of money? edited by sourskittleashnut on 19/06/2013 <em>edited by MrsO on 19/06/2013</em>

It would also be worth her contacting all the big international law firms (particularly those that specialise in her sphere of interest - family law, commerical, property, etc) and applying to their graduate programmes internship programmes.

For good fitting service try TKD in Jumeriah https://www.facebook.com/TKDGCC?ref=ts&fref=ts. If you get them to fit you, you can always buy online and get them sent over. I am only 12 weeks pregnant but need new bras asap...in my previous pregnancies (a zillion years ago!) I was in England and ofcourse M&S have a fantastic bra fitting and advice service that you can trust...is there anywhere like that here? I don't want to pay the earth for bras that aren't going to fit me for long! <em>edited by MrsO on 01/03/2013</em>

I don't think so, you still have to get registered and have the tags put on which are done at the entry desks. Hi Does any one know if you can buy tickets for Kidzania in advance to save on Queing? TIA Michx

Lella76, If you are looking for a Reception/KG1/FS2 place for September 2013 I'd say that you are already too late! This year group is the one with the highest demand and many of the schools have long waiting lists. Most schools will have already awarded their Sept 2013 places but they may still allow you to go on the waiting list. Many people have registered for multiple schools and could be offered places in more than one school, so obviously they have to reject the place they don't need. So places do come available. It is an awful system here. It would be hard to recommend how many schools to register for, it really is a matter of your budget (each one will require a minimum AED500 non-refundable fee). I would suggest that you try and find out if any others have a possible place and register if the school / location suits you. If you know where you will be living then that will give you a better idea of the schools to be contacting.

lella76 this website gives details of the age for school years across the differing curriculum. http://www.dubaifaqs.com/education-dubai.php for most British schools the deciding date is 01 Sept. So for Jebel Ali PS (reception year / FS2) your child needs to be 4 years old BEFORE 1 September. hope this helps <em>edited by MrsO on 13/01/2013</em>

I've been twice. Once for breakfast with my friend and once for lunch with DH and DD. It was lovely for a girlie breakfast/coffee as you can look at all the things for sale and it is quiet. Breakfast menu was light and food is great. DH thought the lunch portions were too small for him. He had a pizza which was more like a small ciabatta size. The play area is not in the cafe but on the other side of the shop (it's really just an area to display toys and let the kids have a bit of a play with them). I don't think you could leave young kids there unsupervised as they could easily run riot in the shop and there are lots of breakables! That aside we had a lovely visit and the quality and freshness of the food is very good.

Before you commit to the area I would suggest that you try to drive to and from there at your ( or you DH) normal times. The only access is via the road to The Gardens and the junction off SZR is a nightmare after 6pm and after 7am. Depends how much you are prepared to sit in traffic!

This would also make an excellent present. The Coffee / Barista experience with Raw Coffee. http://www.limeandtonic.com/dubai/en/experiences/4020/raw-coffee-co-barista Hello All, I am looking for a bean-to-cup coffee machine and have no idea where I can find one in Dubai or what is a good brand. Its for DH's birthday and as he is coffee mad I thought this would be a good presesnt. It has to either be able to grind the coffee beans or at least use ground coffee and not the pod system as he usually gets coffee beans. At the moment he uses a cafetiere but would love to do espresso's and cappucinos. If you could point me in the right direction in terms of brands and locations its available in Dubai that would be great.\ Many thanks! :)

Anyone know if there are still trees there?? I've been let down by Ace hardware as they lost my order and am now in a panic as inlays arrive tomorrow and really wanted a tree before they came!! If they are still available I'll go tonight! I just saw some in Waitrose in Dubai Marina. Don't know how much they were but looked gorgeous. I saw a woman having her wheeled out on a trolley and it looked to be a 6-7ft tree.

Thanks ladies for your response. I have an iMac late 2008 so from what I can gather it can be upgraded. I popped into iStyle and one of the guys was quite helpful and gave me the details of an Apple centre in Tecom. (similar to Laurelm) so I will probably take it there for an assessment before I take the leap to upgrade. BTW. A disk copy is apparently available from the UAE apple store (www.apple.com/ae) for Aed75 + aed 50 delivery, but I don't want to take the risk of installing myself. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks louisedvs, I only have books that is have downloaded from Amazon and none of them have 'lending' enabled. According to the Amazon website it is possible to lend for 14 days but only if the publisher allows it! Ah well, I think I'll have to befriend someone with books downloaded as PDFs. Or find that website you mentioned. Ta. Xmasbaby, you mentioned in your post that you linked your mum's kindle to yours in order to share books. Can you tell me how you did this?? Would love to be sharing some Kindle books with my friends. Thanks. I bought my mum for xmas last year and it was the best thing ever! I was worried that she wouldn't make the switch but about 10 pages into the kindle book she was a convert. Its bright enough without tiring the eyes, and the font size is adjustable. I also bought the case, so that she could hold it like a book/lie down and read etc. To help with the transition, I linked her kindle with mine and downloaded a few books for her so that it was ready to go right away. I then showed her how to use it as by the time she was done the books she was a convert and was eager to learn. Since its linked to my account, whenever she downloads, I pay for it but then we're able to share the books as you can send books to up to 10 kindles if linked. She normally downloads the free books from starting up authors and sometimes I get messages where she's now downloaded 10-20 books a pop for not a cent. It was the best gift ever! Sorry to butt in but i have just done this today Plug your Kindle into your friends computer or laptop It will open up a page which says open to view files Open the documents file Copy all the files and paste to a new folder ( mark it kindle downloads) She can then plug her kindle in and paste to her Kindle documents Vice Versa for your friends Kindle I hope this makes sense The only problem i found was that i couldnt copy Amazon downloads to other people's Kindles only files i had been sent in Mobi/Epub and PDF <em>edited by MrsO on 26/11/2012</em>
