Thanks all for your input. I will take a look at the schools mentioned too. So does anyone have an idea as to when the khda school reports are out for this year? I think it's either today or tomorrow. From the schools mentioned the safest choice is gems wellington And if you are not really sure then look at other schools like safa private, kings barsha, victory heights and safa community. Horizon is going through a lot of changes this year, their class size has increased to 26 and their head teacher is leaving but on the other hand horizon international is doing well. Good luck

My daughter is 8 almost 9 and we have a chore list and certain expectations that she has to comply with before she gets her pocket money, the chores mainly consist of making her bed, hanging out the washing, clearing the table and polishing the lounge, if she doesn't do it there is a deduction from her allowance. In regards to expectations, as I work I expect her to have had a shower by the time that I get home, her homework prepared for me to do with her, she has to be polite and considerate to the driver and nanny, go to bed on time and so on. This works for me but may not suit all, some of her friends are getting in excess of 1000aed I wish my mil was like you in the past, that would have definitely made my husband more responsible when it comes to house work!

Good afternoon! Does anyone have any experience with this child care centre in Tecom? Or can anyone recommend another child care centre close to Tecom? Thanks so much! I haven't heard of it but parents are happy with sea shells in barsha.

Thank you, Raffles looks good I like the Montesori model. I had several friends who sent their kids to raffles and they were very happy. (But none were happy with the school).

Hi there, My husband and I are hoping to move over to Dubai this summer. We have a B7, G5 and B19m. We are looking at Mirdif to live. Both children are loving school and whilst aren't struggling they aren't "academics" either! (If that makes sense) my son loves sports, plays golf, often gets asked to represent his school in events and my daughter is a bright, happy, friendly little thing :) Any recommendations please??? Uptown school or gems royal are the closest schools to you.

The nursery looks too good to be true! Any parents out there with a kid attending Cherry Town? Any feedback you can share? Thanks in advance! http://www.cherrytownnursery.com/ Why would it be too good to be true? It seems like a day care centre and it just opened! And it seems it has no outdoor facility. Do you work there?

All those schools are good If you are interested in victory heights (which I think is amazing) so you can check out the school too (vhps) Safa community and kings barsha are very close to Arabian ranches.

Sorry might not answer your question exactly, but I go low-cost to save money. So would not go for business class. As far as I know you have baggage allowance, meals and a better seat. Yes it's defintely more space and food is served, you don't need to pay Extra.

Hello Ladies, I wanted to check if anyone of you has experience with FlyDubai business class? I understand that it is low cost airline, so I am not expecting a moon. Basically just wanted to know if it is worth the money they charge and general feedback. Thanks in advance. My aunt just flew business with Flydubai and she loved it! She said the staff was very nice and friendly and would definitely fly again with them.

We applied to different schools, including one in Victory Heights, none of them accepted, only Repton offered a place How about safa community? Much closer and still has places for next years fs1.

Toscana you just have to carry it down the stairs or Costa No there's a lift and I'm sure cos I used it when I had my stroller The best view is at the meat co but it's very expensive and I thought the portion was too small Enjoy :)

mrssak, as a long term Horizon parent these are my comments. The school has new owners, but aside from fee increases and some issues around uniform, the school is very much running on a day to day basis as it was. The new Head follows the same ethos as the previous Head, and there has been a very smooth transition. Communication to parents is now very good. Horizon is a very attractive school for parents who want teachers who know every single child in the school, children who know every child in their year and in other years, parent helpers welcomed in class, a 'small school' feeling, happy children, minimal formal homework with optional homework given, good focus on subjects like music, great sports teams and good academic results. It also receives an Outstanding rating by KHDA, and I read or heard somewhere that there is a 98% attendance rate at Horizon. It is just a nice, normal, lovely little primary school. It doesn't try hard to be the 'best' academically - it's just very normal and down to earth, that suits some people, but it doesn't suit others. Thank u for this clarification I feel much better Just one more thing, when I went on a tour, it was 20 or 22 in class How many are they now? Do they reach 30?

Re DESS no priority to British familes but to siblings, also DESS and DESC both have way more applicants than available places every year, so wait lists are long. Have you looked at http://www.hartlandinternational.com/about-our-school.php or Nord Anglia? Both are too expensive Lolacat.

Thank u so much for ur reply I really appreciate it It's for fs1 next year I did not want to take the offer but my husband thinks we shud give it a try and see how it goes as it is an old school and is rated outstanding. I agree with u regarding the mgt and they never pick up!!! The website really needs an update! Anyway Ive applied really early to dess and went to the assessment (didn't get a place for fs1) but felt like we won't get a place even though the registrar said they have places in fs2 next year. I think priority goes to british families. Japs waiting list was closed when I was Searching I rolled over my daughters application for victory heights I will apply for gems wellington and jps next year If I'm unhappy and I dnt get into any of the above then it's either safa community or kings nad el Sheba (I wanted kings Al barsha but they prob won't have any places). I'm afraid if I keep her for a year or 2 she will fall behind and I won't be able to move her. Any advice?

Hi, Anyone been there? Am planning to do my kids bday there? Are they good? What is the age of the kids who would enjoy there? Am planning to go check it out this evening? and is parking a nightmare there? I went to a 6 year olds bday there and my daughter (2.5) had so much fun and so did I, the team is great. But I didn't enjoy the food and I think they don't allow u to bring ur own. There's a parking garage but u got to pay for it.

Buying a new car & range is upto 120,000. I was thinking to buy Pajero2014 full option 3.5L & price is reasonable 116,000. I need some reviews for the car. I need a big car. 3.5L is the bigger one, engine, correct? You'd want the bigger engine. I think it is a great vehicle. Several people I know have them, and I would like to buy one, myself! I will be looking for a pre-owned late model Pajero later this year. I've seen a ton with really low mileage in excellent condition online. Yes Beeber, and its interior is also very spacious.but i heard it is gulping the petrol. Oh definitely yes!! But I still love mine It's So spacious and I always feel safe as its stable and strong car.

Experienced mommies: need some advice -my eight month old baby has started becoming very fussy about what he puts in his mouth - i truly believe and prefer to give him homemade fresh food but he seem to reject everything (really tasty, sweet, savory-everything) - we introduced the Ella's pack couple of days back and he loved it - i guess he loves the colorful pouch and the idea of eating from it - so now last two days i show him the pouch and trick him by putting in homemade food. however i am really thinking if i have other options. i am not too worried as Ella's is organic and he likes it but is there a way i can create pseudo looking Ella pouch and put home cooked fresh food for him. TIA U can buy tht pouch frm just kidding :) Some children enjoy feeding themselves (and yes so young)
