Bracknell is closer to Reading/Windsor (equidistant between the two) than London, but overground train links are quite good. It has the standard high street stores, but no 'high end' stores from what I recall (although it has been a couple of years since I've been there) - Windsor is your best bet for that (if London is too much of a schlep). I'm afraid I don't know about living in the area/neighbourhoods. My husband is gng for a week so I dnt need any info on living areas Thank u for ur answer It is very helpful Ill search Windsor for wht I'm looking for :) <em>edited by mrssak on 29/10/2014</em>

I'll prob call them tomorrow Do u know if he/she are gng to get into any trouble or fined? No they don't get into trouble. They just get a call from the police telling them to move their car. They might get into trouble if they don't move and there are multiple complaints. Oh good thanks :)

What a difficult situation for you as no one likes to upset their neighbours. Do you have somewhere else close by and safe to park? If not, do you know in which apt/villa the person is staying? If so, I would knock on the door and request they move the car. Perhaps they don't realise the car parks are assigned. If no, I think your last resort is the police who will quickly solve your problem. I live in Jlt 3 towers are connected by the garage I dnt know how it can b done, I think it wud b impossible to find him or he on my own

Hello We are soon to be moving to Dubai from the UK within the next few weeks. All a bit sudden. We have a son who will be turning 3 in February 2015. Just wondering any recommendations for nurseries either Downtown or Marina area. We are unsure on exactly we will be residing but the 2 areas are where will be in the next few months. Also is it best to send him to a nursery first or straight into school for FS1? Do I need to start applying for schools now and at what stage/ year group? Any help advice is appreiated. Thankyou x Hi there :) For next year Ull b applying for fs1 (must b of age 3 by first of sep 2015) IF I were u I'd def start applying to schools as some have already closed applications for fs1 2015 and it will b harder to find a place for fs2 U can check out the new schools like kings barsha or kings nad el Sheba or safa community or nord angila but japs or Jess or horizon or dess will b def closed for appications by now. As for nurseries u check out jins in dowtown Or others Tht r highly recommended: kids palace, homegrown, and childrens oasis In marina, u can go with toddler town in jbr or raffles in the marina Good luck with ur move :) <em>edited by mrssak on 28/10/2014</em>

Thanks for all the positive replies ladies! I'm optimistic that she can handle the assessment part then (insha'Allah!), however she is going through a stranger anxiety phase these days so I really hope she doesn't start screaming when she sees the teacher! Are other children usually in the room as well? Or is it one child at a time? edited by sourskittleashnut on 22/10/2014 Other children will b present

Tks for replies, I probably did not phrase it correctly when I said its a Dubai thing. Your right it is a entitled syndrome. I guess I have not had the happiest 1 st year in Dubai and my experience of Dubai has not be a positive one. They have done some horrible things to us. All because I stood up them for bullying my very young kids and asking for the money back when they stole that I had left out for the Waterman. That's only the half of it. The parents don't want to know and the other neighbours have complained but nothing gets done about them. They have the run of the compound. Luckily we are moving in a couple of months and then we will have a fresh start to experience all the good things about dubai My first year was horrible too but It does get better And i find the 'I dnt have internet anymore' a great idea Good luck :)

Dear cherpie I'm a Muslim and both my parents are Muslims too My dad is not a strict Muslim but has hardly missed a prayer and has been to haj twice I've always loved Christmas, the beautiful trees, decorations and carols r my fav! my dad knew how much I loved Christmas so he volunteered to get a Christmas tree for my class (Tht was bk home) he bought a huge beautiful tree Tht I'm sure cost him a lot. I never forgot Tht and I love him for it. Both my parents lived in beirut for some time and I always made sure to visit during Christmas, it's like magic :) I now live in dxb with my husband and DD in Dubai and make sure every Christmas I take loads of pics next to each and every Christmas tree in most of the malls. And becos I leave near a famous open air pub (not sure wht is is exactly), on Christmas Day they have a little show where a small group sings Christmas carols. I take my daughter in the balcony and sing along as I know most of the songs. Hope u find a way to enjoy Christmas and let ur children enjoy it too. Ps I'm sorry if my English was not good enough (for some posters) but I had to change schools becos of the gulf war and Tht has affected my language greatly. Merry Xmas cherpie in advance :)

Hello, Im very keen on securing a seating for my LO in either DESS/JESS. Are there any parents out there who can help me with this-- given that i DO NOT have sibling priority or a corporate debenture. What are my chances of making it into any of the schools without prioirty? Feedback on the schools? Jess is closed up to the year 2017 -fs1

Hi Daza, unless you know know me & my child in person or you went through a similar experience I don't think you will understand what I'm going through I don't like to argue here, thanks for your advise but don't you think a mum of a 5 yrs old would have tried all that before seeking a professional advice or help? I even went to an OT as he suffers from mild sensory issues but the prices were ridiculous for the service they were offering. & my son will starve himself, I tried everything, he does not touch his packed lunch at school although I make sure he has food he eats on his own at home , he goes for 7-8 hrs without food or water at school , he doesn't even drink as he hates using school toilets. As for co-sleeping he suffers from night terrors from time to time & he is a restless sleeper. I did not want to mention all this on a public forum but your reply was not helpful, parenting is a sensitive issue, if I wanted advice from other mums I would have posted here I'm a moderator in an international mother & child forum with over 2 mil members, if I'm seeking advice from fellow mums I ask there not on a social forum for expats Apologies if I sound rude, but I really hate it when others offer advice although the poster didn't ask for it I'd be interested if the price is reasonable ;) DS who will be 5 in. November refuses to feed himself, refuses to sleep in his own bed & is dependant on us in general, we are more towards gentle discipline & we can't tackle those areas. My children would starve if they refused to feed themselves, I just don't have enough hands! I'd do a sticker chart then just let him get on with it. If he eats, lots of praise and a sticker goes on the chart. If he doesn't don't make a big fuss over it, he will just have to be hungry until the next meal time. edited by wickedangel_78 on 06/10/2014 My daughter will not feed herself too I used to pick her up frm the nursery crying like **** becos she's starving And I never had the nerve to ask the teacher to feed her

Hi, Just to update, some schools have started registration for 2015 such as Wellington DSO and Wellington primary. Still waiting on the others.. I've heard JPS and Wellington Int'l are very hard to secure a place now. Three of my friends had put their childrens names down for FS1 2014 in both schools and neither of them got a place at them! Not very encouraging *panic attack* Thanks for the update I think they'll open reg on the 1st of oct (just a guess) I really dnt know if I shud register my DD or not ..is it a waste of money? But then again the new schools r too expensive Why can't they just let us know how many places are available so we can decide whether to apply or not? If u dnt me asking wht other schools r u considering?

If I filed a complaint with the Central Bank, what would they do? Would they ask ADCB to compensate me? Just curious to know what might happen... Did u write the swift code or was it a mistake frm the bank? Senior official as in the bank manager or head of operations or CEO? Huge difference! If u have a solid case tht is documented then I'd try contacting the central bank and see wht they have to say abt it Ur money was lost for a whole month and tht is a huge period ..whatever bank or individual Tht was credited with ur money has benefited frm it so it's an unacceptable error I'm not in retail banking but In my opinion the bank should compensate u...if u only contacted a manager or a bank official he's prob just trying to protect his ass/bank and there's where the central bank is needed. Hope this was helpful

ADCB actually "lost" a substantial amount of my funds of in a transfer. Took them a month to find it. They had input incorrect SWIFT code along the way. I lost out on both interest and currency exchange. When I took it up with a very senior official, they did not compensate me in any shape or form. I am an Excellency (Private Banking equivalent) customer....... Did u try contacting the central bank? U shud def file a complaint there

At 3.5 and 1.5 my kids loved Battersea Childrens Zoo. Imagine the Sharjah Animal Farm, only with cooler weather and greener, and that's how toddler friendly it is. The surrounding park is also lovely, perhaps half the size of Singapore Zoo lol. You cross the Thames at Knightsbridge, and you've arrived at Battersea. We took buses to get there. Good call Apricot, Battersea Children's Zoo is wonderful with little ones. I'd put it the must do list. Well actually one of the things Tht bothered me at the Singapore zoo is how big it was ..too much walking and it was extremely hot Tht day So myb I'll give the battersea zoo a try Tks :) <em>edited by mrssak on 09/09/2014</em>
