Hi cymraes...I had this problem on another plant (hibiscus) before and the ants are usually a secondary problem. The main problem is aphids...small white bugs which secrete a sweet liquid that attracts the ants. Check on the underside for the aphids. I did exactly what you mentioned below....I used a mild soapy solution in one of those jet spray nozzles and the aphids eventually went away...but it took consistent spraying for a couple of months! HTH

There isn't a fixed price. It depends on the type of book, its condition etc.

Maybe she has something going on in her life that you don't know about or she is hesitant to share with you. Things are not always what they seem, so if you have shared a good friendship, try asking her if something is wrong and if you can help. At least that way you know that you didn't just give up on a 19 year relationship without trying your best to salvage it. With all the posts on EW about how hard it sometimes is to find new friends, I think it is better to try and find out if you can do anything to get your old friendship back. If your friend doesn't respond to your efforts, then at least you'll know that you tried everything from your end.

Watching Lydia's Family Table the other day, she made a great point; she lets her granddaughter taste just a bite of different foods, and says eventually a taste is developed. Her GD is about 2. My Dad used to do this with me, and I was loving sardines before I knew it! lol edited by Beebers on 13/05/2012 This is what I'm hoping to do too Beebers....but I'm not the greatest cook so we'll see how it goes! :)

Trying to introduce fish to my DD who has only eaten tuna so far. Since i don't have a lot of time, I'm looking for simple recipes for grilled or baked fish. Any ideas where I can find some or if anyone has recipes to share, I would be most grateful! Thanks. :\: I thought we were talking about a child...so better to avoid fried fish and sauces as well.. If so, let us know...I can give some simple healthy recipes Yup...it is for my DD...I don't mind sauteing in a little olive oil but I will avoid any deep frying.

Thanks Parkernz....Its so hard to cut out processed meats esp. since cold cuts and hot dogs are so quick to make when you're in a hurry. Are you referring to the Organic Foods and Cafe at the Dubai Mall?

I've been reading about the dangers of both these ingredients in processed meat. Anyone know where I can find meat that is free from these ingredients or any particular brand that does not use them? Thanks.

Yeah...I hate it when a match goes to penalties...seems so unfair as RM really dominated for so much of the game and then just couldn't convert in the penalty shoot out :(

I am expecting a baby over the summer and am looking for someone to look after the baby when I go back to work, and also do the household cooking / cleaning. I'd love to take over someone's maid if they are relocating or leaving the UAE, and can offer a very competitive salary (plus live-in accomodation) for the right person. Anyone out there know of someone? Hi...I recently saw an ad on careerjet.ae for someone who was looking for a placement for their Sri Lankan maid. You might want to check it out...it was under part time jobs...they also have a lot of other maids and nannies looking for work so probably worth a looksie.. Good luck with your search..

Hi Ladies, Since the topic here is about Tube Tops; I would like to badly know where I can find good quality cotton tube tops as I am allergic to the nylon, polyamide, polyster and other materials. All I have found were with these materials alone or mixed with a low percentage of cotton. What I am looking for is either 100% good quality cotton which lasts long or a higher percentage of cotton mixed with polyster. Colours don't really matter except I would need black and white the most. Prices should not exceed AED 60 as well. I will appreciate your help on this, thanks. edited by Teeni on 11/03/2012 Hi Teeni....finally got my tube tops in all the colors I wanted at Iconic at the Deira City Center. They had cotton ones (95% cotton and 5% spandex) if you are still looking for them. Although I dont think I'll ever wear another tube top without thinking about some of the comments on this post :)

I would also be interested to find an alternative to the Damas tree ie: lush foliage and fast growing. We live in AR and have Damas trees lining our entire property which we need to remove. They are great for privacy and shade so its going to be very bare without them but can see the damage they are already doing to the paving. Not much else grows as fast or as dense as the Damas tree, that's why they are so popular here, even though they cause terrible damage to property. An alternative that you could consider is thevetia - its a large shrub with long fine leaves and yellow trumpet shaped flowers. Grows very well here and can be planted to form a hedge, but its more a large shrub than a tree and it is poisonous so you can't use it if you have pets or kids. Another option is Murraya paniculata also known as orange jasmine...great for hedge planting and it has lovely creamy white flowers...only downside is that it grows much slower than a damas tree or even the thevetia but if you like the smell of jasmine, this plant smells heavenly!

What a refreshing post after all the recent posts about cheating husbands and lost jobs... lots of stuff makes me smile: Watching one of my favorite movies on cable Spending time with my lil one and watching her learn new stuff everyday Make my DD squeal with laughter and nibbling on her apple red cheeks Looking out our window and and watching the sun rise over the buildings (on days when I can get up early enough) A hot cup of tea when its raining outside A quiet moment (like now) when my DD is asleep and I can think back to all the stuff I have been thru to get to where I am today Hmmm today life is good and this post has made it a tad better :)

I so strongly believe that certain people come into your life at certain times when you really need them. They fill some special need (as you probably do for them)...sometimes these relationships are permanent and sometimes they're not. Now I'm not the most outgoing person by far, but I've learned over the years that a place is just as good as the people who make it special, so I try to open up. So I try not to think that my friends might leave me behind when they move on...I just go with the flow and enjoy the time together for as long as it lasts. And I have plenty of friends all over the world that I keep in touch with...not the same as having them here but its so much easier to keep in touch with Skype and all the new technology.... Life goes on...

@mum2k, how many times would i do that if i need about quarter kilo of chicken fat? hmm...not too sure. I get a small bowl of fat from the skin of a 1 kg chicken...so you might need double that I'm guessing.

Its also really easy to make if you can't find it. When I buy chicken, I get the skin packed separately and then just boil the skin in water (like making stock) and allow it to cool. You'll find a thick layer of fat that you can take off and use for cooking.

We traveled with DD when she was a year old and found the bassinet pretty useless...it was way too high and DS was too tall for it anyways.....we booked the seats right in front of the cabin for the extra leg room....If I were travelling again I would go for a couple of seats back and choose the window seat for baby and me...especially helpful if you're still bfeeding...I found the front seats too exposed and had to cover DS and myself with a blanket when I was nursing her.
