I see nothing wrong with that. I see everything wrong with it. In this country it is viewed as offensive and can put many locals in an awkward position. I really don't see why breast feeding a baby should be done in a crowded public area when there are other possibilities available. It is not veiwed as offensive. Local people are pro breastfeeding, so much so that they are trying to pass a law insiting that people are fined for not doing it! Oh really? Yeah - its ridiculous to pass a law but I see where they are coming from, there is a further debate about it at the end of the month - the first one was in December.

I have done it and one of the girls I was with didnt even notice! Just looked like I was holding my daughter. Obviously wasnt flashing my breast around but there is a subtl way of feeding and I would never cover my daughter up when feeding, I think it is a dreadful thing to do Obviously it was not very subtle or no one would have noticed. Besides as AnonDubai says there are more than enough feeding rooms around why put yourself and others in an awkward position. You are not always near a feeding room, and sometime other people are in the feeding room. Im not standing in a toilet to feed my child

DH left us not long ago. Its not been easy to leave DS and go back to work and I wouldn't be in a position to be able to take leave and yes unfortunately DS is special needs. Thank you for all the replies I'll look into the suggested options. Legally your maid doesnt have to take the leave if you give her the costsof the flight - perhaps she would be willing to stay home and you give her the flight money and then you can arrange for someone (family etc) to come later in the year to help and your maid can go home then?

You should go for a 12 week Ultrasound and biochemical screening (if you dont know how far gone you are then go to the doc for a blood text) Then I would say at 20 weeks, see how things are and what the Dr would advise. You can buy packages for pregnancy care where everything is included from start to finish

My brother recently booked a holiday with his wife and two kids to Thailand and HongKong via a specialized travel company called Pomalo Travel http://www.pomalotravel.com/. He had a great time - they basically understand what you're looking for, and craft a whole travel itinerary for you from A to Z. Rana is the contact person. Worth checking them out. thank you

City Hospital for sure. Forget management etc, They are very good, very well equipped, have great NICU - the blood bank is at Latifa round the corner if something goes terribly wrong (Im sure it wont but it was a comfort for me having my first) I used Dr Britt Clausson but many ladies used many others there so see who you like - all the info is on the site about the Drs and the qualifications etc. As for Antenatal - I went to Healthbay Polyclinic and they were very good

Okay so this is going to sound a little strange but I was just visiting a friend of mine in Australia who had a similar problem with her three year old who wouldn't allow her hair to be washed. Might be a little unorthodox but she found some videos on youtube of children who had nits and showed these to her daughter. Apparently ever since, the child has been obsessed with having her hair washed and put into pony tails!! She seems to now be a little terrified of the thought of catching 'nips' from others and wants to be as clean as possible! Not making any recommendations here, just passing on something that I heard! Looking for a "like" button

Thats not correct, babies do not eat when they need to, the do not know that they need to 6.5kg is severely under wieght. I would be at the DR getting to the bottom of that. a 15 month old girl should be 8.5KG at the very least I dont let my 9 month old feed herself often as it is iawalys on in the mouth, 6 for the dogs. I make things bite sized and she eats from a fork. She knows how to eat and Im sure when she is a bit bigger she will stop throwing things on the floor How is you LO when you hand feed?

I know around 30 people in Dubai that have had babies in the last 12 months. 2 of them had to have c sections when wanting a natural delivery, about 8 of them just lie to everyone and say they wanted natural but HAD to have c section (too posh to push but ashamed to admit is) and the rest all had natural or drug assisted births. I had a natural birth although after 48 hours of actual labour, I was warned it may end up in a c section as my daughter didnt want to come out and it was getting dangerous. Even then, the docs gave me a deadline and thankfully did everything they could to get her out naturally

I think it depends what you do. Unfortunately, there are more people than positions in a lot of fields here so there is little you can do about it. For me, I can walk out my job tomorrow and walk into another one immediately for more money so I am in a good position to ask for pay rises. Sadly, many companies dont care about loyalty or skill and see most staff as easily replaceable. You shouldnt be afraid to ask though! Maybe some bosses just think you are happy with what you have! edited by mumofmoo on 08/01/2014

We had our maid in the second bedroom for a short time and then just moved to a bigger place. We refused to have guest staying with us until we had an extra room as it is definately a horrible idea to have the maid sharing her room with cisitors. It should be her room and hers alone.

There are 2 forms the sponsor (you or hubby, whoever it is) needs to sign and filled in and she needs her contract stamped at the Philipine consulate and get another documnet from there. We just had to do this. Im sorry I cant recall the name of the documents but she will need to go to the consulate near the airport stupidly early as they only allow 500 people to bee seen a day and it is a ticket system. People line up from 3am just to get a ticket (it may have been really bad as we did this in December) She will need all the documents mentioned below

Im sorry but she has working hours, she doesnt want to baby sit and work longer than you pay her for so why should she? She has deliberately taken a job as a live out maid so she doesnt have to wrk at night and you know full well thats how she feels Get a baby sitter from a service or a friend to look after your child The OP said the maid was told in her interview that some babysitting would be required at weekends. If she didn't like it she shouldn't have taken the job. Given how she is behaving and that she is doing a computer course it sounds like she doesn't want to be a maid any more. I'm all for bettering your job prospects and good for her but until she gets another job she is a maid. If she can't suck that up there is no reason why the OP should have to put up with her attitude. "some babysitting" to me is occassionally, not every week or a few times a week which is how is sounds like from this conversation (although I may well be wrong as it is not stated, just the impression I get) edited by mumofmoo on 07/01/2014 edited by mumofmoo on 07/01/2014

I took my job because I work 8-4. If my boss said I had to work 10-6 then I would refuse. End of story. They employed me on that basis and I work as such. On the rare occasion (once every 4 months or so) I have to put in extra hours at the weekend as it is necessary. I know that and I accept that as it is exceptional circumstances I work to live, I do not live to work. My evenings and weekends are important to me as I am sure they are to your maid which is why she is not willing to put you before herself, and it sounds like you already knew she didnt want a job that interfers in her life

Why hire someone if you dont trust them? You have a few months to see how she is with your bay, surely you can judge if you are happy with her care giving and as a person without having to spy on them and make them feel like a criminal?

Why are you giving expensive clothes with special instructions to the maid to clean? Why dont you take them to a professional to clean if they are expensive and need special care? She is a maid, she can put stuff in a machine and take it out again, basic skills, not expert ones I would talk to her, make it clear that the damage to your things is not acceptable and tell her she will be paying the replacement costs of anything she breaks in future (but dont charge her if she drops a plate or something like that, we have all done it)

Thank you Ladies for ur replies since I am having a baby soon I prefer to have one maid instead of having to teach a different one eac h time when using hourly baby sitters , I mean even if they are well trained each of us has a different way of doing things. The reason i felt its costy is because most mums i met here told me they pay their live in philipina maids around 1000-1400 so even with other expenses I dont think it will be over the 2 K but adding up their rental I guess it will end up to that figure so i guess i will stick to the live out maid option, even if its more costy but I would feel more comfortable with my newborn. I dont know who you have been talking to but I do not know anyone that pays so badly for a live in maid. After the Visa costs and flights and EOSB accrual, We pay ours between 1800 and 2000 a month and then on top is the food, toiletries, clothes, medications, phone credit, TV etc so it works out around 3000 a month anyway

None of them. They all say different thinks, most this do not work as each baby is different and you will end up feeling down if you cant get your baby doing "what the book says" I say this as a mother of a 7 month old. I read a load of books and NOTHING works for my baby. IMO it is best to just learn what your baby likes and dislikes and if you have issues then google ideas on how to fix them and ask friends and family and try different things Some people swear by the contented baby book, for me, it was the biggest offender
