Brabantia bags in H size (grey dot). So annoying. It seems they order all sizes yet some sell out quicker then others but then you have to wait until they're all gone before new ones come in?

I agree with Tallybat: Paris- Bruges - Amsterdam- and then I would add Hamburg- Copenhagen. Denmark is great for visiting with Children. I remember going to the Tivoli park in Copenhagen as a child and of course lego land although that is still quite a little way from Copenhagen. Hamburg is great as well with a nice harbour, ther are also many pretty little towns along the way. We would often leave the autobahn and take a detour until we found a nice place to have lunch or a rest. Amsterdam has a great vibe and a personal favourite for me as I'm from Holland. If you want to spend a few more days there, I can also recommend Maastricht, Haarlem and Den Haag. If you travel before the end of May then the Keukenhof is a must. It is where they display all the tulips and it's great. Bruges is one of the nicest cities in Belgium and extremely pretty! If you are travelling with small children I personally would rent a car as it will be easier lugging all your stuff around but parking/driving in some of these big cities can be a nightmare. You could do pretty much the whole trip by train as well, or maybe rent a car once you leave Amsterdam.

I've heard 'hooping' gives good results as well. Am going to see if I can find a hula hoop sometime this week. When I looked at some youttube clips it really seemed to be working out your abs and some people have lost a lot of weight doing it as well. Most importantly it looked like fun! edited by muurtje on 26/03/2012

Misread and thought thread said my DH has glandular fever. Immediately I wanted to know what he'd been up and what his explanation for catching it was. Lol goes to show how corrupted my mind has gotten since becoming active on this forum :D All the best to your DS and make sure he doesn't share (water) bottles when doing sports as this is more often then not the cause of infection.

The comments just keep getting better and better. Perhaps you ladies are correct and from now on 'bananas on trees' are considered offensive in Arabian Ranches. I do agree they can be very unappeeling! SkyKitty your comment just made me spill water all over myself lol

Start spreading rumours about yourself that are so ridiculous nobody will believe them. During lunch for instance, tell them; did you hear that I used to work as a lion tamer in the circus before I ran off with the bearded lady and started breeding dolphins? All in my previous lifetime of course. On a more serious note, you will have to be the more mature one and simply ignore it. Or if you are brave enough confront the person that is spreading the rumours and ask them to stop it. Whatever you do don't join in by gossiping about the person that gossips about you. Very tempting but, but won't do you much good. Hope it stops soon!

See, if it had been dug up it would have made sense. Then I would have expected them to sell it on. Perhaps they were told to dig it up but didn't quite comprehend that bit? We live in the Ranches along the main street in Saheel, so it's quite exposed. They must have come into the garden but as there isn't a window that looks out over the front I didn't see them...

So, yesterday DH noticed that two of our banana trees in our front garden have gone missing. On further inspection they have actually been sawn off at the base and taken away. We've asked the gardeners but they wouldn't do it without asking and also they would have left the tree to be picked up by garbage men. Who in the world would steel a tree?!?! Also who would saw it off rather then dig it out. I'm not too upset as I can't stand bananas but DH is. He was looking forward to a home grown banana... :\:

Glenfiddich I'm with you on this one. I will also do one bit (or maybe a few) and then find something better to do! However for my own sanity I am going to try and persevere, although it would be so much nicer if one of these 'Amandas', 'Fairies' or 'Antheas' would just turn up on my doorstep :) Madolecow, is this a serious offer? If so e-mail me at [email protected]

As the other two destinations are cities I am assuming you're looking for a city trip? Rome, Sienna, Luca, Firenze are all amazing cities! Just be prepared that it might be busy, but that also goes for Paris. I would choose Italian cities over Paris, but that is just a personal preference. Both offer an amazing variety of things to see, do and enjoy.

Wow Norah, they really do a great job! But looking at the pictures I can't help but wonder where a lot of the 'stuff' goes. Also living in a rental property limits your options somewhat. If you ever feel like practising let me know! I've started with my wardrobe this morning. Refolded all my tops and bottoms so now they're all organised and I even colour coordinated my vests. Baby steps, baby steps!

Thanks Zannie. It's not so much the 'big' stuff that I struggle with, but all the little bits that I end up hiding in draws, cupboards, plastic carrier bags (shoved into the cupboard under the stairs) and all the paperwork. Tbh my tiding up tactics are more about hiding things and moving them around... Of course then I forget where they are and when needed spend ages looking for them. I seem to have two major issues; 1 making sure everything has it's own place and 2 putting things back in that space... This is going to be a long road before I am where many of you ladies are. I know I need to do it, because it drives me nuts and makes me feel like a slob.

I am one of those extremely messy people and I seem to have accumulated so much stuff. I need a massive clear out and reorganize (is that a word?!?!). I am dreading doing it on my own, so is there anybody that loves organising more then anything and is willing to help me go through all of it? I'd be extremely grateful and so would DH as the mess it driving him bonkers and stressing me out!

Adele, I started at the end of Jan, but did shift duty so had up to 16 classes a week. Used Emirates Driving Institute in Al Quoz. My instructor was a lady called Candy and she was great! Just beware that RTA has added a few extra things to their requirements including, reverse parking, hill start, emergency stop. They also require you to do 'night time' driving and 'high way driving'. If you want any more info e-mail me at [email protected] edited by muurtje on 15/03/2012

Aside from temporary accommodation we haven't moved yet. Coming up to our second renewel in June and if the landlord is willing we would love to stay. Really feels like our home, although I am contemplating painting the walls white as I despise this cream/magnolia colour...

My neighbours had theirs spray painted; high gloss white. They also did all the doors and other woodwork. It makes their villa looks three times bigger and so much nicer. No more cockroach brown! Very jealous!

Cakes, the lady that I spoke to at the kennel said that her bookings don't come in until about May, so I am just waiting to see what we decide on. I also now have the option of a friend coming to stay. There will be a few dates when we will both be away but I can make use of the kennels for those dates. Feeling a lot happier now. Thanks ladies!

Thanks emlsnre . That sound interesting. Have asked to join the group so will see. Fairycakeyumm I think that in terms of 'quality time' the home visits would be great, but then he would be alone for the rest of the time. I can leave him alone for a good 6-7 hours, but he is very very very happy when I do get back and basically won't leave my side for a while. You have two dogs, so they keep each other company. Indy loves other dogs and loves to play. Best for him would be to run around and be with other dogs. Anybody who has a dog, (or if you are home most of the day) wanting to look after him for the summer in a homely situation? E-mail me @ dubaimuurtje at g mail dot com

Has anyone taken their dog with them? My in laws have 5 dogs of their own so he would have lots of company. It's just that I'm worried their bad habits will rub off on him, lol. He doesn't bark, not even when the door bell rings and they do little else. It's terrible when you enter the house and all the dog go nuts... I am just not sure what to do. I have just spoken to a lady who has kennels and she seems very nice, also it wasn't very expensive, but I don't like the idea of my little guy 'locked up' for such a long time.

The dog wouldn't be in kennels for that long. It would be for about 4-5 weeks and then maybe 1-2 more. Only if we would send him to my in laws we would leave him there for three months with us joining him in the last month. I would take him to them and make sure he is settled in first. I am waiting to get a call back from DKC. Thanks for recommending them!

See my husband asks this every birthday, Christmas etc. Over the years I have learnt not to say 'nothing' as he actually listens to that... Just tell him something that you would really like. I try to give him a couple of options (in different price ranges). I have tried saying, surprise me, but that didn't work out too well. I'm still trying to get rid of his last 'surprise' :D Most men don't understand subtle hints, so walking him past that handbag you really like a couple of times and saying how much you like it, won't work. Give him a note that tells: make, model number, colour, shop etc etc. It can be frustrating as I always put a lot of thought in to my gifts for him, but then I know he loves me and he shows it in plenty of other ways!

Sorry to hear that I am not the only one.... It won't stop me from investing in new friends as the short time I have had together with this friend has been worth it and I truly believe there are lots of lovely ladies out there that I have yet to befriend! Thankfully I have a nice group of friends to hang out with on the weekend etc, but always have room for more friends!

What a nice story! Taking the oppertunity to thank the taxi driver who dropped me off at the driving school this morning. I had forgotten my wallet, but he said not to worry. I could just go ahead and he would come by my house later in the day and pick up the money. He did and needless to say I gave him a generous tip for being so kind!
