Ohhhhhh! I am shocked to read your lovey comments, thank you so much. You nearly made me cry!!!!!! Sometimes I think my comments a little too conservative and religiously biased. I always post from my heart, however. We all come such different backgrounds and religions and have wonderful stories and great achievements to share - that is what a forum like this is all about, I think. I have posted ads regarding sale of cake boxes and cake boards I bought in bulk, on Dubizzle, Olx, and even here in Expat Woman but nothing yet. There have been some queries but limited to only the first mail. A few ladies also showed interest and booked a few pieces but then never heard from them again. Is this normal? Once, due to no response at all i dint check my email for quite sometime and missed out on two queries. Are there any other sites with a wider viewership where i can post my ad? I havnt done this before so also wanted to know whats the norm that do you call the buyer home or arrange a meeting point somewhere else as this was a tip written in another site for mums/babies. Iv kept my contact number hidden on dubizzle to avoid spam calls. Is it ok or should I display it. Kindly guide and plz spread the word too if you might know of anyone interested in the Cake boxex/Boards. Will really appreciate it. TIA

I was at Trade Center few days back to attend an Islamic talk and during the waiting time before the talk began, a video documentary was continuosly played about the importance of the public learning BLS to help save a life. It was a BEAT campaign initiated by the Moopen Group involoving Dubai Ambulance Services. I got the following link of last year mentioning the details. For the party bags, check out Daiso (located on LG at Dubai Mall near to Waitrose). Othwerise you can't beat Dragonmart on price and options available, but I'm guessing you're not going to have time to head all the way out there! I also vouch for the Party Centre in Garhoud - you'll get multi-packs of little favours, balloons, streamers, napkins, plates you name it. Can't help with the choc or vitamins - I'm sure Holland & Barratt would have the vit's though? which section in dragon mart plz. could u plz give the exact location. thanx

This test is called Pre-Marital test and ALL couples irrespective of nationality or religion have to get medical blood tests done here to screen out if either are carriers of disease that can be transferred to the child. The certificate has to be shown at the court at the time of marriage.

summer breeze plz let me know how did u report to the police. Today a very dangerous lady was wrongly trying to come ahead of me and obviously there was no chance to give her way coz im in front of her taking a turn. This lady after taking the turn is pushing her car against mine and cornering me only not touching my car , if you know what i mean. It was as if she was practicing a scene from a film. i was on the side of a pavement on a busy road and she was on the outer side. I could only move to an extent avoiding hitting my car on to the pavement but she came too close. and then she whizzed away stopping at a signal and laughing. I dont know what went wrong with her. I was so shocked. Only Allah saved me today. I dint know how to report and where to report. Alhamdolillah u r safe too.

A very Close acquaintance of mine has been laid off from work just yesterday among few others from her office. The boss has been good enough and told her to take these 15 days to look for work but will be paid the whole months salary. She has over 9 years experiance in the Accounts Department. Visa is sponsered by a family member. Can you share your experience on the procedure for applying visa for your parents? TIA uary The Residance visa applied for parents is placed under the Humanitarian visa as we have to show them that they have no one to look after back home. You can directly go to the immigration department to apply for it and dont need any agency. Simply go to the counter take your ticket and they will guide you. There is a separate Ladies only Lounge for processing. Minimum Salary AED 6000/- and proof of a two Bedroom Accomadation, Salary certificate, Three Months bank Statement, Passport Copy etc. The website (http://www.dubai.ae/en/Lists/HowToGuide/DispForm.aspx?ID=5) mentions Medical Insurance Policy for each parent but till now I have never been asked about it. Infact after reading this only I came to know about this point, therefore it is not a REQUIREMENT for the Visa. AED 5000/- deposit for EACH parent which is refundable once the visa is cancelled. Keep the reciept for these deposits safe. There is a typing center outside the main building but within the immigration campus and a cafeteria too but better take some water and snacks along from home. Medical Fitness Test will be done for them once they reach here. Just keep a copy of the Certificate you get before you submit the original one Coz sometimes they may accept the copy of the previous test next year. Happened once with a friend of mine so you never know. Overall its not a difficult procedure as long as you have all the necessary documents and money but you MIGHT feel that the staff there are tough and not the smiling and greeting type if you know what i mean. Just letting you know this to be prepared and be firm and brave and not intimidated by such behavior. :-) HTH

Kalemah is also a very nice Islamic Center. They arrange many seminars and lectures conducted by renowned scholars. These are paid sessions of two days but very well worth of each dirham paid. http://www.kalemah.org/ They recently concluded a free session of 11 days on islamic studies but no worries they always have something or the other for gaining knowledge. You all may subscribe on their site and you will get regular mails and smses on their upcoming events. Al Manar is another center and they too offer amazing oppurtunities for learning and improving life of both the worlds. please spread the word too. HTH I mentioned both centres as well:) I went to the 11 day course, it was amazing. Were you there? After i wrote, then i saw that u already had mentioned them and said to my self should have read ur reply carefully ;-) was so excited to see the topic that just jumped at writing away. wow ma sha Allah u went for the crash course? I couldnt make it to this one due to work :-( but am mostly there in most of their workshops. might have even crossed you if u attend often :-). So glad that we have such places to attend and learn so much. Last time Sh. Muhammad Salah was here through al manar with the Fiqh of Family. It was so enlightening; really one feels so blessed to be in such gatherings and learning from learned people and seeing what all they have accomplished. It esp. gives me the feeling that i have wasted so much time in worldly matters not concerning us, but then Alhamdolillah that HIS doors are always open for us and its better late than never. SOOO happy for u Maroosh and SINCERE duas for you Always. I always think of u and Alhamdolillah to have "MET" u here. &lt;3

I wandered into the Courtyard next to the Lime Tree caff in Al Quoz last week and found the most wonderful shop full of kitchen equipment of all kinds, clearly used by chefs here. Can't remember its name - ah, here you go, Al Difaya Hotel and Catering supplies, http://www.aldiyafa.com/ - but they let me spend my money there, no problem :D Huge selection of stuff if you go and browse upstairs as well as down. Hi simpleasabc, could you please give me the exact location if im driving from szr or if im coming from Mirdif city center on my left on emirates road. which ever route u think is easier. thanx a lot.

Jazak Allahoo Khair Apricot for the tips. They were very helpful :-) I went on to make Chocolate Chip Cookies with walnuts, Macadamia Nuts and Hazelnuts. Came out good. BUT still have to search for a perfect recipe. Also I have to reduce the sugar content in the recipes even more as the cookies are still very sweet. Thanx again.
