JS - an apartment in the Old Town, but it's on the first floor so they can jump onto the roof of the souk next door. So plenty of places to explore if they venture further - hoping he has just lost his way a bit as I know it can take a few days to get their sense of direction back if they go too far! Did the biscuit thing, have popped home for an hour and put some tuna outside too to see if that will tempt him out. Will do biscuits again tonight too and get some posters made - he is wary of strangers but even if he has just been spotted it would help ;o( I am a nanny and find it less stressful looking after kids!!! Thanks

As a nanny I would expect to be able to eat even if I am on duty at a function. Yes I know a maid is treated differently when it comes to things like this but even if you are working it's nice that you can also have a bit of fun while in charge and eat. We are all entitled to lunch/snack breaks - or do maids not fit into that category??! I have even indulged in a few drinks *gasp* courtesy of my employers! Guess it's whatever works for you and yours - personally I would leave the kids and maid at home and have a great time without them!!! ;)

I went and just found it very sad and hard to watch at times - she should not have been up there. I am well aware of her reputation but was hoping she had put all that behind her and was on her way to recovering - unfortunatly not, poor girl.

We just make it fun and only allow a maximum spend of £10 or whatever the going rate is here at the moment. So there's no pressure to be all romantic or be ripped off!! I have received a boat that lights up made of the best plastic money can buy, a baking tin shaped like a ship among other things - so getting quite excited about what this year will hold for me :) He has had a tiger shaped watch, where the paws wrap around your wrist, glasses that reflect hearts when you look at anything shiny and lots of equally useless but fun stuff!! I discovered Daiso and so he got loads of things last year!!

I am a qualified nursery nurse but work as a nanny and have done for 20 years!! I get fed up when people in Dubai call maids 'nannies' They most definately are not!!! I went to college for two years where every other week was a practical placement and in college you learned about every aspect of childcare. Physical development, milestones, appropriate play and toys for their ages - what they learn from various activities. As well as food and nutrition, first aid, and other things all relating to children. This is my chosen profession not something I do as a means of making a bit of money, don't get me wrong as I am older and very experienced I do get perks now just like other professions when you are in them for a long time. All my time is spent playing, nurturing, caring for children - which I would not be able to do if I also have to clean all day - you cannot do both fully. Also I liase with teachers, doctors etc as well as proxy parenting when my employers are away - would you let your maid do that??? I organise all their activities, keep them stimulated and happy at home and out in their parents absence. Of course I am seen as a luxury and a maid may be all most people can afford but PLEASE don't say they are nannies!!! Most people who come on here saying they are looking for a nanny are not looking for someone like me are they??!! Rant over - just feel here my profession is deemed as if anyone can do it and that is not the case in my opinion.
