Leonee is wrong, you can get Diflucan over the counter. I got it just over a month ago at Boots in Gulf Mall As a matter of fact you can get all sorts of stuff over the counter without a doctors prescription here

Hi Nelly2478 Congrats The pricing varies depending on where you get your care and where you deliver. I would suggest trying to join 'Positive Birth Group Doha' on facebook as this question has been answered many times on there. There are also lots of recommendations as to the best doctors etc. To give you some info. If you give birth at Hamad I believe it is QAR 100 per night as it is in the Cuban and Al Wakra. My experience is the Cuban but it is part of the government hospitals. From memory you pay 50 for your first appointment and 40 for each one after that. Scans are an extra cost (I think 50 or 100) as are any medications but they are a lot cheaper than what you would pay at a pharmacy. You will not be able to have your husband at the delivery if you are at Hamad however he will be able to be present at the Cuban, not sure about Al Wakra. If you have a c-section he will not be able to be with you anywhere in Doha including private hospitals. The two most popular private hospitals are Al Ahli and Doha Clinic. From what I understand Al Ahli is anywhere between QAR 15,000 and 29,000 depending on the birth (complications, c-section etc) and I think Doha Clinic is cheaper. Hopefully someone can give you more info. There may be pricing on their websites.

Hi Ladies There is an infertility support group here in Doha. We have a facebook page but it is secret so you won't be able to see it unless you are a member. There are lots of ladies on there who have been through Hamad and other infertility treatments here, in the rest of the gulf and world wide. Unfortunately I can't PM you on here with the details of who to contact as there is no function for it on this forum. I don't really want to put my email address or phone number down as this is an open forum and it is also against the rules. I know that Doha Mums has information on the group however if neither of you have had children it is unlikely that you will have joined. I'm sure that if you use the contact button on their website (http://www.dohamums.com) and explain the situation that they will be able to put you in touch with the right person. Sorry that it's not easy to find however most people aren't 'out' about their infertility so having the group secret helps make sure that their privacy is protected.

Thanks for all the great tips ladies! I'm going to Dubai Mall for all the baby shops so definitely will try the Q room for bras. I can't remember the fabric shops I use to frequent but am glad that I have some recommendations so I can hone in on the best shops straight away. My husband thinks we're going to have a chilled long weekend - little does he realise that we'll be jetting all over the place trying to find everything I need ;)

Hello lovely ladies of Dubai I will be visiting for a long weekend from Qatar at the beginning of March and have some questions which I hope you can answer: 1. I am looking for large cup sized non wired bras. I am currently a G cup but am pregnant so need to go bigger! I've only been able to find bras up to a G cup here in Doha so am hoping there is somewhere in Dubai. I really hate buying bras online as I want to make sure they fit properly first. 2. I lived in Abu Dhabi in the early 2000 and made regular trips to Satwa to buy cottons for clothing and quilting so will be making a pilgrimage there this time. Just wondering what the average price was now per meter - it was 5 dhs back then but I can't imagine it's that price now! 3. I'm also looking for some quilt batting - any suggestions on where I might be able to find some? Thanks in advance

Hi greenkween13 I know this is an old post however I finally changed my name last year while here in Qatar. My husband also works for Sidra and they sorted everything out for me once I had my new passport. I did not have to put my name in the paper however I do know someone else who worked at Sidra that needed to a few years ago. I made sure the PRO office were aware that I was going to change my name so they could tell me the process and prepare everything. I did need to get a letter from my embassy (Australian) to say that they had no objection to my name being changed. It seemed a bit redundant because they were the ones who processed my new passport with the new name but that's the Middle East ;) I am not sure where you are in the process or if you are even still looking at coming however Sidra HR should be able to give you advice on this from the PRO's who sorted mine and others out.

Hi SBozo I recommend Prof Badreldeen at the Fetal Maternal Centre [url=http://www.dohafmc.com'>link[/url'> near Landmark Mall. I have also suffered from recurrent miscarriage and was seeing Dr Sonia however as I am now regarded as high risk when pregnant I was advised to see him by quite a few people. Based on my own experience I would not recommend Dr Sonia for high risk or recurrent miscarriage but that is just my opinion. She is a great doctor, very friendly and personable and it may be worth visiting her just to see what you think as everyone's experience is different. The Prof is busy and expensive but is such a wonderful doctor. I won't go anywhere else for my treatment as we've been trying now for 5 years with 3 first trimester losses and 1 second trimester loss - I want the best care I can get and he's it.

There are a few accommodation locations for Sidra: Al Rabban Towers & 44 West Bay in ...well...West Bay Education City Housing (2 compounds) just past Education City near the little Lulu Express At present the Education City Housing is the only housing near Sidra, housing is being built nearer to the hospital but I'm not sure when they will be completed. The accommodation you will get is based on the contract. We lived in Al Rabban and it was fine, though the pool is a little small. Great location in regards to the City Centre as is 44 West Bay, which I've been told is really nice. The Education City housing is nice as well. I can't advise where they are in relation to the Compass schools so but some of the other ladies might know. <em>edited by natbrookes on 22/01/2013</em>

With regards to sizing it depends on where you order them from. Australian sizes are different to UK and European sizes (not sure about sizing in America). For example in the UK I am a size 5.5/6, Europe size 39 and Australia size 8 - of course it sometimes depends on the make of the shoe, so buying on-line can be risky. I would like to echo tamieg1 when she said that UGGS are slippers to a vast majority of us aussies :) However if you want to wear them out go for it, just be warned she's also right when she says they don't have a lot of grip. If you are going to be wearing them when it is icy, be VERY careful. The winter of 2010/2011 in the UK was quite bad and there was a spate of people, wearing UGGS and footwear like them, having nasty falls sometimes even breaking legs and ankles. Case in point, a friend who I worked with was wearing her well loved UGGS when she broke her ankle crossing the car park to get into our building, even after she'd slipped badly in them the day before. Enjoy your lovely cosy UGGS and Europe

Amy My husband had to go back to the UK last year and his flight was to Manchester but stopped in London. I picked him up in London as it was closer to where we wanted to be and he had to get his bags and recheck in on BA anyway to get to Manchester on an internal flight. It wasn't until he tried to check in on-line that he had problems. He called and because he didn't make the last part of his flight to Manchester they put his ticket on hold. Luckily they let him change his booking however the cost was still almost as much as the original flight but cheaper than a one way. I'd still go and see them at Qatar to see what they can do. Oh, and if they say it's okay get it in writing as it might be okay this end and not the other! :)

@JillMV - I saw full body pillows in Debenhams the other day. They were in the baby section as a sleep aid for pregnant mums.

I was at the Hyatt Plaza shopping centre yesterday and was amazed to see a western looking woman in what I can only describe as two small bits of fabric trying their best to be a pair of shorts and a very tight cropped singlet!

I saw this a few weeks ago at the Lulu in the Education City community housing compound. There are quite a few good finds there (the only place I found non fast cook porridge oats) however not the vegemite I have been craving! It was with the imported margarine products opposite where all the imported cheeses are. Hopefully it's still in stock. If you don't know where this Lulu is I'm afraid I'm not very good at directions but if you google maps 'education city clubhouse doha' it will point out the club house (shows as marker A for me) Go past the club house, take the next right and Lulu is on the left - hope that all makes sense! good luck

@bliqat I didn't check the site yesterday so didn't know that a get together was planned. Sorry I missed it - did anyone else show up? If so, do you have a date and place for the next one?

I love Australian Women's Weekly recipes, but am trying NOT to amass another load of cooking books that I will be loath to part with when we eventually leave so I use the website: http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/food/ (and yes it is not a mistake it does start with aww. and not www.) As a matter of fact I have just got myself a mixer and have been searching out loads of cake and biscuit recipes to try and most of them look amazing - I may put more weight on in the next few months than I would like! :)

Hi I synced my iPad with my Amazon account so when I buy one I do it on-line at Amazon (usually on my PC) and ask it to download to my iPad. Then the next time I open the kindle app it syncs and downloads. I did set it up on my Amazon account in the UK so am not sure if you will be able to do it from here. I do it this way because I heard before I came over that there are sometimes issues with downloading certain books/music etc to your apple devices here. Speak to the apple guy at the City Centre and if you have no joy then resort to google :) Good luck

I've not been here very long so can't help with the rental question however I have lived in Muscat and it is a really nice place to live - much more 'normal' (if that can ever be said of this region ;)) than when I lived in Abu Dhabi however I've heard great things about living in Doha and am excited to see what it has to offer. Besides, Oman might be an option in your future and at least you know that people recommend it :)

I've not long moved to Doha and all my craft stuff and sewing machine will be arriving by the end of this month so a meeting at the beginning of August would be great :)
