Looks like every company has a different policy. If they aren't bound by certain laws on how to do this then hopefully you can negotiate something with them. My husband works in DIFC - we don't get separate housing allowance, it's just included within his salary. But they paid the LL upfront one cheque and then are just deducting it equally over 12 months from his pay, which makes sense. LL happy, we're happy.

Our Pickfords ones lasted the 2 month journey from UK to Dubai. If you contact Allied Pickfords here I'm sure you can buy from them.

Good to know actually! I'm so massively paranoid about consuming anything that might make my stomach feel dodgy. Also - I have noticed that use by dates are much sooner here than they are in the UK. Have happily eaten dairy and even meat (not chicken!) 1-2 days past use-by dates here without issues.

Hi, I have a nutritionist who does my food and training plans (we now do it all online as I moved here) as I am training for some competitions. Anyway, I was able to identify what caused reactions as we did an elimination diet - we took out commonly inflammatory foods, I.e dairy, gluten, wheat for about 3 weeks then reintroduced them one by one. Bingo - after gluten I had severe bloating, stomach cramps, head ache.

Keep chasing, some of these agencies are disorganised, or extremely busy (not an excuse I know) but sometimes it's just a case of being proactive and calling them up for feedback or an update. But yeah, that's really annoying, I find so many places here give you false promises.... I often think "it's fine if you don't do xyz, just don't tell me that you will definitely do it!"

The teachers at our nursery which is part of a group of other nurseries around Dubai (Not GEMS), all have PGCE, cache 3 etc but the teaching assistants don't necessarily. However they get financial contribution from the nursery towards formal teaching qualifications should they wish.

Can't really comment on the other areas - my parents lived in Meadows which was really nice, but pain to get out of to commute to DIFC. We live in compound in umm suqeim which is 12mins to DIFC and about 20mins to my son's new school. We just got here in Jan, Safa community school offered him a place in FS2. A lot of very happy parents at their sister school Safa Private School (but no more spaces FS2) so I would look at that. Also about hiring a car - I got mine 2nd hand on Dubizzle, needed a big car as have 2 kids, equipment and far too many eager visitors (!) - anyway we got it for really good value for an expat family leaving and looking for quick sale.

Agree with Tru Blu - Worked in graduate recruitment for a big bank in London, and a professional services firm, and we never really paid attention to cover letters or "About me" intro sections on CV. Your CV should tell the recruiter enough when it comes to progressing your application. That said, if they do require a cover letter- I would include a paragraph about why you want the job, why you would be a good fit for the job, and make it relevant to the industry, and personal experience, so it doesn't sound like you are using a generic template. Good luck

My kids nursery (Kid's Cottage) does holiday camps. My boys loved it during Easter, they are bit younger though at 1 and 4. I noticed as well that there are lots of entertainer vouchers for summer camps, saw some for Alphabet nursery, Blossom, etc

Reminds me of when I was at the beach on the weekend with my husband and two boys... And a pair of girls (my age <30, v glam, pretty) stood right in front of my husband and kids and started posing for photos and selfies, but very provocative. Why?! Just, why! And yeah, sheer bikinis with dental floss straps. Each to their own. Anyway, even my 4 yo asked me "what are those silly ladies doing" ha ha

I herniated 2 discs in September, terrible sciatica since. Have had osteo treatment when was living in the UK, he treated whole body, used mix of medical accupuncture, tissue release, cracking back etc Now I see Dr. Vanda at Chiropractic clinic on Al Wasl Road (near J3 mall umm suqeim) and also a physio there. Been really good. Chiro does adjustments (cracks my hips, back) and then I see physio for a mix of massage, ultrasound, traction therapy. It has really benefited me.

What a shame he is avoiding responsibility, this is his child. If you were living in the UK then I believe the courts there can rule and force him to pay child support but I don't know about living abroad. I guess you have to contact a family law firm either here or the UK who can advise you properly. Really hope you find him.

My boys go to the lady at Dr.Joy Dental clinic (near J3 mall umm suqeim) She's lovely and has a mini TV screen attached to the chair if you have young ones that don't find it easy to sit still! Oh wow! DS had his first haircut at Favourite Things and had the same thing. However, he was only distracted for a few minutes then started fussing again. What more if someone starts touching face and mouth! Oh dear! Is 1 yr an appropriate age to see the dentist or is he too young? Yeah my 1 year old wasn't that keen after a while but to be honest it took less than a minute if that - she just counted his teeth, prodded his gums. When we were living in UK they told me to take my other son in when he was 18months and they did the same thing so prob the norm

I can only give actual values on where I did viewings as moved here 3 months ago from UK - for 4 br in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim (near lots of schools, popular with expats) couldn't find anything less than 230k a year . Not helpful I know. But Places in barsha seem to be better value and new schools opening near there (just got my son into Safa community school which is new, after lots of rejections from the older GEMS schools due to lack of available spaces) but I know Kings and GEMS opening brand new schools near there too Warqa and Dubai Silicon Oasis again a lot more reasonable rents but not sure of exact values Dubizzle has lots of properties and can filter by price, area etc

One of my boys is 1 and a half, for indoor play I take him to : - mini monsters (yes it's busy on weekends and free days but rest of the week it's pretty quiet in the mornings when I've been) - extreme fun motor city - cheeky monkeys (barsha mall) - zebra crossing (sheikh zayed road) Btw most of these are in the entertainer kids book - makes it great value if you have a 2nd child

I'm new here - moved here in January from London and had a look at quite a few nurseries for my 20month and 4 yr old boys... My two absolutely LOVE Kid's Cottage (near Umm Suqeim Spinneys), they don't even kiss me goodbye anymore just run in. They do 'learning' (especially for FS1 equivalent) in the morning but they also do lots of cool things like arts, crafts, themed projects, paddling pool, dance, they have animals that come in every Tues, etc. will be sad when my eldest moves onto big boy school! Teachers and teaching assistants are really warm and caring. It is also family owned and run, same family that own Willow nursery (also great). Only thing is they don't run year round and kids have to take packed lunches in (unlike nurseries in UK) but this is pretty normal for most nurseries here. Hope this helps
