Nope! BUT this happened frequently to us untill, finally, they changed our router last week. Call 111, and they will send someone to fix it in 48 hours. Expect to spend the weekend without tv as they don't work on Friday/Saturday! This happened to us TWICE this month on a Thursday :(

A bit off the subject....DH wants to get a gas BBQ but I'm hesitant because I'm worried that the gas cylinder exposed to Doha heat might be risky i.e. explode?! I've never heard this happening before but I just don't trust companies here. Any input on this ladies?

MinnieMouse, thats bad news...i hope mine lasts longer than that! Sands: simple slice the steak into medium size bites and mix it with a bit of oil and spices (could be anything really, s&p, cayenne, dried coriander etc) and dump it in the Tefal. Another thing I do is mushrooms in it. DH hates mushroom but I love them and the Actifry is perfect for doing one portion. I get 2/3 pieces of different types of mushrooms ( megamart has a nice selection and they really don't cost anything) and dump them in for a few minutes.

I personaly don't know anyone who got the Philips one yet - it got out recently. But those who got the Tefal one are very happy with it. Mom got the small one at first but then exchanged it for the bigger one - and she's glad she did. Try to experiment with different oils, mine is hazelnut. Fried chicken drumsticks are really yummy, as well as sliced beef steak.. do try it. Frozen chips don't need any oil coz they're pre-fried, taste better than fresh but more calories. Let me know how you like it.

Totally second what Amy suggested. We bought 2 cars from Qatarliving and no complaints but definitely have them checked out. I got a RangeRover and DH got a small Audi A5, I get scared to death when I drive his car between all the Landcruisers here. Definitely get a bigger car or preferably 4x4, you will feel much safer -and confident- driving here.

I saw it in C4 at CC a couple of days ago (didn't notice which size), I actually got mine from there few months ago! Definitely go for the bigger size, you won't regret it. There's only DH and I and sometimes i wish it were even bigger, not to mention if we have compamy...+ its not only for fries, u can cook chicken, steak etc in it. I find things cook more evenly if you don't overload it. You're going to love it :)

By EW! So, whenever I'm in the supermarket I unconsciously think of some of the posts here of ladies looking for a certain product. Yesterday I was in Megamart and passed by the baby aisle and remembered someone here was looking for a certain brand of infant milk. Meanwhile I went to Megamart to get specific things ( frozen blueberries, Butterball chicken broth and low fat lacto-free milk) and couldn't find any of them. "lightbulb" How about we create a group on BBM specifically for this? Just keep it short and simple and only enquire about the products that we can't find readily or only in specific supermarkets. Ex: "Frozen blueberries (@megamart)" What do u ladies think?

It was actually close to our place. From what I heard, the generator caught fire but no one was hurt. The whole area was covered in thick black smoke for a couple of minutes. I live on a high floor and took a few nice/scary pictures, too bad I can't share them here.

Is the one across from Ahli the underground one? If so, I'm certain they open all day and don't close from 12 - 4.

Last week we got a takeaway from the new small Thai place in the Megamart parking. It is AMAZING! Do try it ladies. We got minced chicken salad, red curry chicken, pad Thai and beef with basil. All of them had lovely flavors and weren't greasy. The only downside is that they have a limited menu ( no papaya salad). They have an open kitchen and cook the food in front of you.

You might find it at Carluccio's. But as Bechamel said, it's very easy to prepare and keeps for ages.

Try calling Mohamed 77489784. He's Syrian or Jordanian and I have used him recently to do some basic stuff like shelves and basic cabinets. Don't have high expectations but for basic stuff he's good. Fair prices and delivers on time.

Kempinski! They have a very nice gym and there's hardly anyone there most of the time. You can pay per entry but I don't know how much.

Hi Piklz, We stayed in Somerset for around a month when we first got here. It's a serviced apt so they have everything, clean everyday, change the sheets, towels etc. So no need to worry about anything. They have a small but nice gym and the rate included a daily buffet breakfast. Let me know if u need additional info about it. Much nicer than Beverly Hills IMHO. edited by NewbieDoha on 03/08/2011

Maariya- I have one to sell if you are interested. Told DH to get me one when he was in the UK a couple of months ago so he got the Salon styler, thinking bigger is better! I have shoulder length hair so it doesn't suit me. I have only used it once. You can verify it's authenticity on the website and I can check if DH still has the receipt.

Thank you all. I will add my favorite as well: Nobu at Atlantis. Pricy but yummy. Thought I'd add they sell it by the plate not piece and each plate has 3 oysters and each oyster has a special sauce on it (3 oysters, 3 different sauces). Forgot the price though. *drooooooooling* edited by NewbieDoha on 30/07/2011

Already told DH to get me the number but he's out for dinner, he'll get it whe he goes back home. Meanwhile, I'll try to explain the directions: Turn to the right just before Salam store (opposite CC) if you're coming from the pearl side. Then take the first road to the right and then the first right again -if that makes sense... Areen is the first building on the left. It is on the smallish side -around 30 floors-and white colored; it has a big outdoor parking lot. It really is less than a minute drive from CC. HTH, will update you when I get the phone number or worse case scenario, I'll give you DH's number.

Hahaha..Touché The gym was the first thing I checked since I exercise regularly. There is one but it's not completely equipped as they're still waiting for the company that deliver the goods (at least that was their excuse). But the ones that are there now are basic. They are new but ex. the treadmills don't have TV etc. But there's a gym across the street in City Centre- Fitness First or the gym at the Intercon near the Pearl is fab and it's only a 5 minute drive and beach is very nice, well worth the money IMHO. As for the white goods, they provide Dishwasher-washing machine-Dryer-cooker and Fridge. All brand new. The apt is apprx. 250 SQM with maid room and toilet and a storage room inside the house which I find very practical. Construction noise is minimal and I'm not bothered by it during the night even though I'm a very light sleeper. edited by NewbieDoha on 28/07/2011

Go to the Apple store in City Centre and they will help you figure it out even if u didn't buy it from there. I bought mine from the states and they were very helpfull. Once you get used to it, it really is user friendly so don't get frustrated.

Check out Areen Tower opposite City Centre, right next to the new Intercon that is being build. 2 bedroom apt (they don't have 1 bedroom) semi furnished is around 10 K. The tower opened couple of months ago and has a nice swimming pool on the top. The apts are HUGE, we moved in last month and so far so good. Let me know if you need additional info.
