Hi everyone We have been staying in the company accommodation for close to 1.5 years now.we requested to have an accommodation nearby to the school my kids got into. A year plus later, due to the massive traffic jam, they eventually got fed up and tired. Often fell asleep at school despite having early nite every school days. We tried to appeal for change of accommodation to Dso.. But it took them months to reply. And the reply is always no.we were offered al Furjan villas but that too is too far from school. Rentals in Dso is really crazy. Anyone encounter this problem? Found any solution?. Please share with me. I am at my wits end and my last resort is to bring my kids back home before things got worse. One solution: opt out and find your own accommodation near your kids' school.

Does anyone have a contact for the Flamingo villas or any other villa close by? Thank you The location is great and I don't mind that they are old. What rent is common for a 3 bed? Flamingo villa's are for Emirates Airlines' staff only. Check out Arenco villa's, next to Dubai College. Or Nakheel villa's, next to Flamingo.

You have just pierced your daughter's ears, which means that she has open wounds now. Pools in general contain a lot of germs, so I would keep her out for a while, until the wounds have closed properly. Were you also given a disinfectant solution to apply daily? This would minimize the chance of infections.

Sorry, you're both talking about totally different compounds. I assume OP's husband is flying for Emirates, and the house they have been offered is not an independent villa. Nowhere near..

What's the response you are waiting for? You've been here for 8 years, both you and your husband working and you didn't buy a house yet neither here nor in Canada? Which means you spent over a million dirhams on rent and are willing to continue doing so? Go buy a house! We have bought two investment houses in Canada in fact and rented them out, but here with the prices going up like crazy, inflated market, whenever we planned to do so and calculate the mortgage, inflation rate etc...it sounded the better investment to buy it else where and rent it out rather than buy here and live inside, our accountant still thinks so...but I am fed up of being reasonable!!!! Sure, go ahead and buy now. Don't wait. The prices are decreasing and will come crashing down. So excellent time to buy now. Sorry, didn't want to sound too cynical :sleepy:

Yes, I have thoughts. AED 84,000 for KG1 is absurd. Schools like these lost sense of reality. But it is a GEMS school, so it's a commercial business.

Although it's probably not what you want to hear, but take the negativity on Pprune serious. Emirates is not the company it used to be. Things have going down for the past 2-3 years, and the end to this is not in sight. All the information you need can be found online, just make an informed choice. If you're coming from a stable, war free country, and your husband has a job: stay there. That's my advice.

Did you try expressing milk and giving your baby that as a top off? Perhaps he's hungry and he's not getting enough with breastfeeding? I know someone who figured out that was the problem with her baby.

Sorry no recommendations but at three months there is no problem except unrealistic expectations based on the completely natural desire for your own sleep. Most breastfed babies are still feeding up to two hourly at this age - day and night. Bottle fed babies may go a bit longer but are still needing a night feed usually somyounare lucky if you get three hours unbroken sleep. You'll start solids soon and that generally improves things a bit but you then get teething which reduces it again. Acceptance is the key - stressing makes it worse for you both. If you are at wits end just get a sling and carry them around with you, sleeping whenever they do - you have to nap at every available opportunity. It passes quickly and in a few months you can train them properly to go through the night. Routine will, help until then. A clear message re daytime and nightime with a warm bath and darkened room in evening (for baby, not you) then minimal, attention until morning. Feed if necessary but straight back to the cot with no games or cuddling. Don't put the light on for night feeds. Training for going through the night takes nerves of steel, tolerant neighbours and a commitment from both parents but does work in four days - start around 8 months. Put to bed nicely, light off, door closed, leave until morning. Two alternatives for ensuing screaming -1) ignore totally - very hard to do but very effective or 2) leave for ten minutes go in simply say 'it's sleep time" and leave having assured yourself they are safe. Keep doing this for as long as it takes until they sleep. Do not pick them up, do not give them water, do not start patting and singing. They learn very quickly that nights are for sleeping. With method 1 it is usually two hours crying first night, an hour on second and then straight to sleep on third or fourth night. The alternatives are just as effective dependent on your parenting style - let them sleep,as and when and where they want throughout early childhood. Saves lots of early battles but means parents lose and evening to themselves. Then there is co-sleeping (very controversial) works a treat for many difficult sleepers but rubbish for marital relations. This. All of this. 1000%.

We got rails fitted with ours as they are on tracks and they were provided by the curtain maker. He had such a huge selection of fabrics, I am sure he can easily get the rods etc of your choice. Would you like me to ask him? His name is Jamal fro Golden Scissors if you want to look at his reviews on here first? Jamal definitely provides curtain rods. 100%.

Depends which *** you're using. No issues with my one so far. But then it prides itself on extra strong security, so I'm sure they've already got a seamless workaround which is why there's been no disruption in my services. Ahhhh no which shows shall I binge watch this weekend:biggrin: Enjoy it while it lasts  Considering what I pay for my service, as I require a secure network, I expect it NEVER to be blocked. I pay for my service too. This is what Netflix does: 'all it has to do is track where its users are connecting from and note that a large number of users with accounts from all over the world seem to be connecting from the same IP addresses. Those IP addresses can then be blacklisted. The VPN service can switch to a new IP address, which Netflix will eventually notice and block again. It’s an everlasting cat-and-mouse game.' Unless you have a unique VPN address, I would have different expectations.

I agree. I actually reserve time each day to delete all the spam SMS's I receive! But I would say it's probably not being sold. Whenever I buy something, they always want my cell phone number. I've started making the number up but from before when I was still a bit naive, I gave the real one and I think that's why ... Oh it's definitely being sold. And the most inexcusable thing about this is that the telecom companies themselves are involved. I know this for a fact because when I switched to Du last year, I started receiving spam before I'd given my number to ANYONE. They can only have possibly got it from Du. Not necessarily correct. After cancellation, a phone number gets 'frozen' by the telecom provider for a certain amount of time. Could be 6 months, or 12, or etc. After releasing the phone number, it could happen that a new customer gets this number and consequently all the services that the previous owner subscribed himself to.

http://bgr.com/2016/01/27/netflix-fix-vpn-block/ Thank you. I'm sure 'ABC' providers will find smart solutions to work around the system. And for the ones who've asked: no, it's not Etisalat or TRA, it's Netflix that has blocked the service, as a Netflix pop up will show when I want to watch a movie or a show.

The US Netflix has the widest choice of movies and shows. Why should I pay the same as a person in the US for the same but inferior product? Isn't it already outrageous I have to pay for an 'ABC'-subscription to even get the US Netflix?! And now Netflix has blocked the usage of 'ABC'? What's wrong with this picture? We should collectively boycot Netflix. But it won't work, because for every member they lose, they will attract 10 more in new countries. Not happy.

Hi Floza, Has your daughter been exposed to large amounts of blood before? And what if, God forbid, complications occur? Would you want to expose her to panic and stress? These things could have a bigger impact on her psyche than you would imagine. Regardless of the fact if it's legal or not. My personal opinion is: don't do it. But of course, you're a free person. Good luck with your search. And wishing you a safe delivery!

Hi. As this is a public forum, people may be reluctant to post answers to the questions you are asking. I would suggest that you go the the PPRUNE forum and read the threads on the Middle East. Please remember that people have posted both positives and negatives, but if you read long and hard, you will find many answers to your questions. As to your first question regarding the rosters on the 777: be prepared to feel and function like a single mom. Please follow Marsbar's advice regarding your other questions. Good luck!

Is it maybe an idea to contact places like Chocoa, Magnolia Bakery and other bakeries and ask them where they get their products from? Or perhaps you can buy stuff from them? At least they can point you to the right direction? I would physically visit them, don't call. Good luck.
