Siennachick is right. Think twice before joining EK. It's not the great company it once was. And it's only getting worse by the day. Unfortunately.

Stop thinking, stop doubting yourself. And pick up where you left off. That would be my advice. She will be amazed of how quick she will pick up things again. And 18 months is not that long.. Wish her luck!

The customer service number is 04-4579494. It's mentioned on your voucher. After you have purchased the deal, you have a cooling off period of 7 days during which you can cancel your order. You can choose to get your money back in the form of groupon credit, or to have it reimbursed to you (almost always credited it back to your credit card). Good luck.

Just had it done this week with Epsco. They were brilliant. Apparently, they introduced this concept here and are very good. They covered the whole place in plastic and vacuumed and cleaned up after. It is a whole day job for a 3 bed Jumeirah Islands Villa...you will get photos and a report too. I second EPSCO.

Hi ladies, Just came across a website that does free delivery to the UAE (bath and unwind). I was surprised that there are international websites that deliver free to the UAE. This triggered my curiousity and I would like to know if there are more websites like this one. Mind you, I'm interested in international websites that offer known brands. Could be anything from (children)clothing, cosmetics, electronics etc. I think many shops in the UAE are overpriced, so this could be a new way of shopping! What are your favourites? Spill the beans! edited by Notnewintown on 21/03/2015

I certainly wouldn't. Regardless the location in Dubai: 1. You'll never get the UAE nationality or a long term visa in case you buy property 2. The quality of the houses is sub standard 3. The prices are artificially inflated If you're from a Euro country, consider buying in your home country, as the Euro is crashing. More Euro's for your Dirhams

Yes, it works. Try it out, you have nothing to lose. Why is it free of any charge? I think not, lol I know people who give it for free to the people around them. The world is full of good people, Lolacat. Isn't that wonderful? Are we still talking about Reiki? ;) Yep. Try to have a deeper look at Reiki and you will see what I mean. It might do you good as well ;)

Hi does anyone have any contact numbers for the Flamingo Villas by Tecom or the Al Nakheel Villas? Also How much are they renting for at the moment? Thanks Hi, Flamingo villa's are 100% Emirates staff accomodation. Al Nakheel villa's, which are located next to it are open to anyone, I believe. Best would be to go there and ask security for contact details.

This is what I found: [i'>'According to the slabs, while UAE nationals are currently exempt from paying any charges for utilising water, they will be charged a fee of between Dh1.7 and Dh1.89 per thousand litres, depending on the consumption. Water tariff for expats, meanwhile, will change from a flat Dh2.2 per thousand litres to between Dh5 and Dh5.5 per thousand litres, depending on the consumption. On the other hand, UAE nationals will be charged between 5 and 5.5 fils per kWh as power tariff, as opposed to the current flat rate of 5 filer per kWh. For expats, the slab changes from the current flat rate of 15 fils per kWh to 21 fils (for up to 20 kWh per day) and a cost-reflective tariff for consumption above 20 kWh a day.'[/i'> So for expats that means roughly a 50% increase for electricity and a 130% for water. Give or take. edited by Notnewintown on 22/12/2014

You could have bought a villa on the Palm for 2.6 million dirhams in 2001 now they are upwards of 15 million dirhams, which is an increase of almost 500%. I look at property as a investment. With all due respect I can't see the North of England or Eastern Europe property prices rising at the same rate as the UAE. A lot of people made millions when they bought that early. And I say: good for them! Well done! And a lot of people lost their life savings. But as the OP is asking whether it's wise to buy now, [b'>we're talking about 2014.[/b'> As I previously said: real estate in Dubai is a high risk investment. Don't gamble with your life savings.

You only need to look at where Dubai was 40 years ago to see buying a property here is a no brainer. You can buy a great property here for far less than you can in the UK and rent it out for far more, yet people are buying in the UK and renting it out for far less........why ??? are you mad? For less..? You need a reality check, I'm afraid. You can call yourself lucky if you can find a villa in Dubai for AED 2,5 million. For the same amount (EUR 550,000) I can buy a stand alone villa with a nice garden in one of the most expensive cities in my country. And I'm from West Europe. And that villa in my country could be almost 100 years old, good enough to stand another 100 years. Every single dirham we earn here, and after paying stupid rents, schooling fees etc, is going straight back to our home country, where we are citizens and have rights. To keep it here.. Now that would be mad. edited by Notnewintown on 14/12/2014

Will let you know after the 25th Thank you, but I need the turkey for Christams. But please share your experience regardless!

You dont know the OP situation, maybe she owns her own business, maybe shes loaded. How can you tell others not to buy when you have brought here? I would be kicking myself if I had been renting for the last 10 years. If you don't take educated risks in life you never get anywhere. In this place, buying property is a high risk investment. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose. Not life savings.

I would never buy here. Every year there are 20,000-25,000 new units added to the market. This is on top of the units that are unoccupied. If you are persistent to buy, buy after a crash or after 2020. The current prices are artificially inflated.

Yes, whenever I like to have a make up lesson, I always make sure to make an appointment with a male Mac make up artist. The best.

I found Qatar a rough place (compared to Dubai). If I were in your shoes, the only reason I would take into consideration moving to Qatar would be the ability to save a considerable amount of money every month. If that would not be possible, I would not even consider to move. But again, that's me.

Dear Expat Women, I have a debenture for Gems Wellington for sale. Having one debenture and getting your child in, drastically improves your chances of getting your second child a place. This is what we found. The debenture was expensive: 150,000AED. Dear Hermione2014, Even if you pay me AED 150,000 I wouldn't consider getting my child into a GEMS school. Good luck with selling off something you got for free. Ever heard of karma? :-) edited by Notnewintown on 20/11/2014

I'm a muslim and I always look forward to Christmas. I even have a tree in my house. If he's such a strict brother, does he also avoid and boycot all malls in this country as they are filled to the brim with Christmas decorations? Would really like the answer to that. edited by Notnewintown on 14/10/2014

Go straight to the school and tell the head teacher that this is highly inappropriate if it is happening. I would be as stubborn as can be on this point. Even the malls have ladies cleaning the ladies rooms - and grown women are capable of yelling if they are in fear, whereas little girls are not as capable. There is no negotiation, no discussion - tell the school it is not on - restaff. Couldn't agree more. At my child's school I see only female cleaners. And parents have to wear their ID badges, otherwise they won't be allowed to enter. I had to walk back to the car to get it when I forgot. It seems your DD's school needs to beware of these things. Go talk to the principal today.
