What I find laughable, is how some supposedly intelligent and well read ladies will take their time, sometimes days at a time, to point out to an allegedly idiotic poster that she is not very bright. Again and again and again and again. They don't get tired of this, they can do it all day, even when its quite clear their target just doesn't get it. With all that intelligence you would think, but no. If this were social media #Insanity would be so trending right now. Ironic then that you took the time to read the thread and post on it! LOL ( like you did yesturday as well!) edited by Lolacat on 28/09/2014 It's yestErday, Lolacat. I'm not even a native English speaker :-)

Maybe you should play along and suggest a family holiday to another country and then just stay? Have you been to your embassy and asked advice as to whether emergency passports can be issued? edited by Lolacat on 28/09/2014 I did, and they can't do it without his consent unless I report something with the authorities here. Oh dear, then you will have to play the game better than him somehow. Forge his signature Fantastic suggestion, Izzy. If the authorities find out, she will land in jail, leaving the children without their mother.

You guys don't see the stuff like I do. I take them, I get in trouble, he makes the rest of my life hello, I go through court after court and probably get charged with something, he'll make sure he's the victim. Even if I manage to leave with them nothing is stopping him from using their other passports and taking them. One wrong move and I'll never see them again. It isn't about my life at all!! No one can judge you. And if people do, let them walk a mile in your shoes. I feel for you and hope you'll see a solution soon. The reason I asked how old your children are, is because of what AnonDubai just said below. Worst case scenario you have to wait until they are adults. In the meantime, try to carve out a decent life for yourself. Try to have nice relationships with a few friends, do nice stuff. Just in general, be nice to yourself, if no one else is. Sending you good vibes.

Well I'm the op, and im stuck in this... He's just attempting to eliminate me and to erase my kids identity and I am less than nothing. Only a dream if I could go back and have my life over again... Would have definitely never ever been with a different religion or culture. I won't have the chance to be anything and definitely can't even think about remarriage, will just have to troop on until the end. It's not defeatist just realist. Tears my heart out. edited by Cherpie on 27/09/2014 How old are your children, Cherpie?

People are overreacting if they get upset about a *** song. Honestly, I understand not eating it but not even watching it or starring out the word? It's one of god's animals, surely there is not point to deny its existence? Never understood the over sensitivity of people getting offended by p0rk, p1g etc. Don't eat it, fine. But I can't even type Peppa P1g without it being censored? Really? Don't get your knickers in a twist over an animal that God himself created. There are bigger things to you use your brain cells for. I'm a muslim btw. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Back to Gaga. I thought it was a nice concert, however shame she only started very late. Poor people who were standing in the humidity from 18.00 onwards.

Just returned from Al Aqah Le Meridien. Dont bother. Renovations going on in hotel and next door to the hotel there is major construction of another hotel. Interesting. Just came back too. Had a beautiful renovated room, we stayed at the side of the new hotel they are constructing and had no noise problem whatsoever. 2 people, 2 different experiences it is then :-)

If it's only 3 days, then don't waste your time hanging around airports and flying. I recommend the Meridien Al Aqah beach resort. Beach, swimming pool, good restaurants and only 1,5 - 2 hours driving away. Enjoy!

A tip for those who suffer from sleep paralysis: during an episode push your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This will send a sign to your brain to activate your muscles and it will break the paralysis. Try it. Hope it helps.

I'm not sure whether you'd like my feedback, but here you go... Like: 1. High salary/high income 2. Departure lounge of Doha airport 3. N/A 4. N/A 5. N/A Dislike: 1. The need for an exit permit 2. The dangerous roads and taking part in traffic 3. The lack of entertainment 4. Being on a peninsula, you can't drive somewhere, you're stuck in Qatar. 5. High costs of living Edited to add that I don't live there anymore. Hopefully others who still live there will give their input as well. edited by Notnewintown on 27/06/2014

In contrary to some advice given here, I would suggest not to anger him. No throwing out, no changing locks, no putting stuff in boxes. Try to get your baby's passport back by suggesting you want to visit your parents/family and that you want some time to refresh/reset so you can come back to Dubai and give your marriage a new go. He'd be happy to have some time alone with his lady love. Leave, file for divorce from your home country. And, don't deny him contact with your child. Not for him, but for your child. Edited to add that in this case you need to be willing to give up your life in Dubai. edited by Notnewintown on 20/06/2014

Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water. Scrunch up a piece of newspaper and soak it in the mixture. Rub the glass with this, or a micro fibre cloth and then polish with a piece of dry newspaper. edited by amelia on 14/06/2014 Thanks Amelia! If your windows are dusty and sandy, do you first rinse them with water before you apply the below procedure?

Just used Celmetro in JLT, because they came recommended on EW. It costed AED 315 to replace the screen on my ipad and they placed a protective layer as well. It comes with free pick up and delivery, mine was delivered back within 24 hours. Oh yeah, they use original Apple parts, that's why they were able to offer me 2 years warranty. I highly recommend them.

Hi, we use EPSCO for AC and water tank cleaning. Yes, it's worth it. The air we breathe and the water we use should be of good quality. Every dirham spent on this, is well worth it. That's my opinion.

Yes, it's normal. Your baby is most probably going through a growth spurt, and by feeding this often, you'll see that your milk supply will increase as well. Don't try to lengthen the time, but go with the flow. Although it can be very tiring.... Wishing you lots of luck.. And remember, it's temporarily! :-)

Ummmuhummad123, though I appreciate your honest replies to threads and you come across as a genuine and humble person, I'd like to advise you not to post too many personal details on the internet. Yes, you're using a nickname, but with the information you have given below, you can be easily identified. If you're ok with that, then that's fine of course. Singarosa, I was sitting on my hands, but felt I had to reply. I'm sorry that you had to experience those negative situations in Jordan. I can understand that it left a bitter taste in your mouth. However, I think it's unfair to label an entire country and its population by using the words 'the Jordanians and how they live'. I'm not sure which part of Jordan your husband is from or which part you visited, but my experience doesn't match yours. I'm not saying that what you have experienced isn't true, but it goes a bit too far to generalize. Oh, and I'm happy that both you and your DH are on the same page with regards not to move to Jordan. Good for you (and I don't mean that sarcastically!). and i am happy that you had a positive experience i wish i had honestly.. i was hoping that i would, and you could say i visited quite a lot of cities and villages.. there are so many factors for us not to live there, firstly the income and secondly i seriously don't feel its safe for my child/ren and thirdly i wish the streets were cleaner.. and i'm not generalising, honest to God.. every time we visit my only wish is i don't get annoyed.. i still love visiting because of the family and the awesome history.. but who knows i might one day want to live there.. my wish is to stay here though but you never know what could happen :D.. Jordan is getting quite expensive, I have to agree with you on that. But I love the beautiful nature, the culture, the old houses, the 4 seasons, the shoarma, falafel and hommous etc etc. All things I miss here in the UAE. Oh well, every country has its pros and cons. And now back to the original subject :-)

I think it depends purely on location... like I said we are fighting off people trying to buy our property (2 bedroom in a very good tower in JLT) as people know that the construction as well as the facilities etc are of a higher standard in that particular tower block... it is currently valued at 3million... but we're hanging onto it as its tenanted and has been covering our mortgage on it from when we purchased it five years ago... we have another 10 years of mortgage on it so will only let it go if it starts becoming painful to meet the payments God bless, and I'm glad your flat has turned out to be a good investment for you. But, EUR 600,000 for a flat? Really? For that amount of money I can buy a detached villa with a nice garden in the most expensive city in my home country. I know, I know, it's all about demand an supply, but it seems people lose their common sense when it comes to real estate over here.

Hi Jeeves, I'm sorry to hear you lost your job. Did you speak to your LL already? He/she might not be so upset that you're leaving given the fact that he/she might be able to replace you with a tenant who's willing to pay a higher rent. I really dislike the crazy rental hike at this moment, but perhaps you can have it work in your favour. Assuming you're living in a good and popular location? Good luck!

The EW forum will be out of business by people who are put off and stay away due to the chatter and pollution of this otherwise informative forum. Things changed since the introduction of the silly titles, stars and thumbs. And not for the better. Quality over quantity, ladies. Hope the ADMIN will see this as well. Oh, for the ladies who are bored: why don't you open a new post in which you chat away during the day and leave the other posts to be filled with 'quality' posts? Well maybe you should take your views to the EW management teams who have implemented an exciting new strategy (and no doubt costly) to encourage new members and others to post more and keep the forum moving. I highly doubt the EW mgmt team has implemented this change so a small handful of posters can start filling up this forum up with silly and chatty posts and cause the informative style of this forum to evaporate. But I stand corrected if this is the case.

I know moms who have their kids at Wellington and they complain about the amount of homework each day. Can't comment on other things as I don't know the school well. I'd like to say that if your kid is happy at the current school, and this school is not bad, to keep your child there. An outstanding school doesn't make your child smarter. And besides that, my personal opinion is that GEMS schools are commercial. Look at the amount of marketing that is thrown on us via this website (through email marketing) and I almost receive daily text messages about open days etc. Where does this marketing money come from? ;-)
