Ladies, does anyone know if AmLactin lotion is available anywhere in the UAE (preferably in Abu Dhabi)? I find it very good for exfoliation, but have only ever seen it in the US. I've asked in a couple of pharmacies and looked in a few supermarkets, but no luck.

There is an organic foods supermarket in Galleria Mall at Nations Tower (on the Corniche, near the Hilton). If you go this weekend (or the 3rd weekend in any month), you will get 20% off.

I will be the optimist and say that it can be done - of course, it all depends on the OPs goals and objectives. As broken down, I agree that AED 8k per month is not suitable for accommodation - a decent 2BR flat will easily run 10K. Also, the cost of owning and maintaining a car will likely be AED 2k or more per month. Going out can also be quite expensive, though I imagine that your wildest partying days are behind you if you have a small child. :) That said, 75% discount on tuition is a nice perk, as school fees are very expensive here. And keep in mind that salaries are tax free. Plenty of people earn far less than 35k per month and they live comfortable lives and save money. Still others make double that but barely manage to scrape by. It depends on how you want to save and spend.

So we saw Marina Heights II today and the bedrooms are MUCH smaller than indicated on the floorplans -- 14'X9' for the bigger one and 12'X9' for the smaller one (says DH... I think they were 12'X9' and 10'X9', personally). But the rest of the flat was nicely sized, the view was lovely, and the finishings were quite nice for the price. Since it's just the two of us and we only needed the second bedroom as an office, I think we are likely to take it, but does anyone know which buildings in Marina Square have to pay for district cooling? I heard that some buildings include it in the owner's maintenance fees, so the tenant only has to pay consumption. Our realtor wasn't sure and 360 is closed until tomorrow. thanks again, everyone!

Thank you, ladies, for the replies! We will be seeing Marina Heights tomorrow (finally!), so I guess I can see in person what is meant by small bedrooms. According to the floorplans, the bedrooms seem reasonable (master appears to be about 16'X12' and the other bedroom is perhaps 16'x10'), but I know that floorplans are not reliable and I keep hearing tales that you cannot fit anything besides a bed into these rooms, so I am very curious. :p We're also looking at Al Raha and Al Reef, so if anyone has thoughts about those, I'd love to hear them. Glad to know that there aren't any murderers lingering about, though! :)

Hi, ladies -- My husband and I have just relocated to Abu Dhabi from the US and are looking for a place to live. I've seen a couple places at Ocean Terrace on Al Reem and they look nice, but I noticed in Dubizzle that seemingly identical units (as far as finishings/ amenities go, anyway) in Sun/ Sky Towers and Marina Heights I/ II are significantly more or less expensive -- nearly 20K more/ less in some cases. I know that unit size, view, # floors up, etc. contribute to pricing, but I'm noticing this even when the units are close to the same size/ layout and at roughly the same height (high vs. low floor). Is there a reason for this? I've not seen the buildings in person yet, but I'm inclined to take Marina Heights if they are cheaper with the same finishings and amenities. Is there something that I simply don't know (e.g., building foundation is cracked, murderers hang out there, etc.)? Thanks in advance for any replies. :)
