My lot are the same and I often wonder just why others have so many problems with their staff. It really does beggar belief at times. I don't wonder anymore. EW has explained a lot to me. Some people should just never have domestic help, that is it basically. If you have always had them then you will treat them accordingly, there really is no room for discussion, it is employee and employer, if you confuse those roles, then you need a wet kipper slap. Couldn't agree more, didn't adopt her she willingly works for us. My maid gets her 30 days leave as per her contract and nothing else. If in doubt read the contract, if it doesn't mention public holidays that will be because there isn't any entitlement.

Not sure if this has been suggested but there is a rubbish tip behind Choitrams near Springs 7, suggest you take a trip there every other day till you get it sorted. You have to go behind Choitams and then follow your nose.

Depends on your lifestyle i guess. I use my breezy canopy all the time as the standard one i find is too hot.I also use the cup holder every time i use the buggy. I bought the UV shade, fiddly to fix on but worth it when at the pool with baby in the pram, didnt use it as much on the buggy but defo on the bassinet for walks round the lake or days out. I also bought a sunshine kids organizer thing that hangs between the handles for putting keys etc in.

Was looking for my maid and found lots on Al Naïf road near Hyatt regency. Spotted one in Al Barshe the other day on way to tailors but didn't stop. It's near mega stitch tailor and Jashanmal offices/building

Ethiopia has put a ban on maids been recruited to work in UAE so you may find the agencies are unable to help you with this unless they have them in the country

Hi,lucky you getting out of this heat! I am pretty sure its rainy season just now so you should get a really good deal with flights and accomodation. Don'tlet that put you off though, its my favourite timeto go as the resorts are not too crowded and you get much more value for money trying to haggle etc. Also, in my experience it only rains for a few minutes all be it heavy then its back to 30 degrees or so.

I also agree, now i can take my DD shopping with me and she can nap in her pram without getting woken up by constant blaring music. Is this a sign that we're getting old!

Call PB and ask them for the sizes. I have a PB sheet on a Mamas and Papas cotbed mattress (70x140cm) and fits perfectly.

Hi Zeynab, I am so sorry to read about your loss.I cannot imagine how you must feel. A good friend of mine had this happen to her 3 times and DR told her there was nothing she could do. She approached a fertility clinic for further investigation and turns out getting pregnant wasn't a problem but carrying it was as her body wouldn't produce enough lining in the womb to maintain the pregnancy. She was given lots of hormones to take and managed to carry 2 children to term. I am not suggesting for one moment that this is your problem rather suggesting that perhaps you should contact a fertility centre to see if its worth investigating further.

I also had brownish dishcharge at implantation and then bright red bleeding at 10 weeks with my first DD.With DD2 i had bright red bleeding at 28 weeks. Both pregnancys continued without any other problems and no cause could be found for the bleeds. The brownish dishcharge is very common my DR told me, the bright red causes a lot more concern and i had to have scans then. Good luck, will say a prayer for you.

PROGRESS!!! It happened 3 times this weekend, she slept in her pram all be it 40 mins each time but its progress. Ive found standing next to a fountain and swaying the pram is the way ahead. Am off to download white noise so i can rig it up in her pram. Fingers crossed it continues and we can get out and about as a family once more.

hi we are living at the springs 14,i would say that its so so here,in our villa my only complain is that the smell on the kitchen drainage is awful at times, the smell of the water from the faucet at our masters bedroom smelled like it was mixed with antiseptic alcohol, and i always have dandruffs lols i dont know why but this is the first time it happened to me,ang lastly its always 20 to 25 dhs taxi fare from our place to a nearby metro station.nevertheless, everything is perfect. Go to Satwa and buy a 15aed kithchen drain trap from any plumbers and install. These are standard in UK houses but not so in UAE. Stops the smell with a one way valve type thingy.

Each of these countries have their own national anthems as was shown in the opening ceremony so why be expected to sing the English anthem? Scotland has its own religon, eductaion, money and law, and also its own anthem so can totally understand why they didnt feel the need to sing the English anthem. On the subject i have noticed the commentators speak of the athletes as doing their part for England regardless of the athlete coming from Scotland, Wales or NI. There i thought it was the british games and not the English games, oops silly me.

We used to live in Springs 15 and it has 2 pools and 2 small parks. 15 min walk to Spinneys supermarket through springs 14( no pool). There are 2 nurseries that I know of Raffles at springs town centre and emirates hills or Jebel Ali nursery in the meadows or lakes. The meadows has just been expanded so may have places for September but be fast as very popular! Road facing villas are normally a good bit cheaper than other villas due to noise etc. Make sure you get a villa with maintenance as some if these villas are in great condition but others not so. Great community feel and close to mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta mall.

Depends on your size, for D cup and larger. You can also buy the big standard t shirt type bras from Motherwcare, destination maternity, triumph, debenhams and Tchibo but none are as pretty. Good luck, I know how frustrating it is trying to get a good fitting nursing bra!

Thanks ladies for your replies and suggestions. I am going to give the dummy a go but only when we are out as not a huge fan of them. I also cover the pram with a muslin to avoid overstimulation but a friend recently suggested not to do this as baby may want to hear where noise is coming from so as not to get scared and drop off. Will try everything and let you know.

Good luck! I gave birth in May and passport has taken 8/9 weeks to get back. Only just doing visa now and you may want to check you have everything for that as we didnt know that we had to get our tenancy contract attested and that took an extra few days to get the paperwork in order.

Shocked and disappointed by this. I bf DD1 everywhere and am now bf DD2 and refuse to sit in a smelly toilet to do so. I use a cover and choose a corner in a cafe etc Bf is encouraged in the Koran so am not sure why you would be making anyone uneasy if you are being discreet.

Thanks Kiwi, I am so glad you said they had a growth spurt around this time as it gives me hope for tonight! How long after dropping the DF did your LO take to going back to taking that long stretch? She used to sleep 7pm till 3am or so but has now started waking every 2/3 hours from 7pm. I started the DF around 10 days ago and havent had more than 4 consecutive hours sleep since:(((( I have tried to cluster feed her but shes not interested. Just feeding when she wakes up from her naps. I am EBF and DF is an expressed bottle given by daddy in the hope i may get some more sleep.

Thanks PJ. My reason for doing the DF is that i done it with DD1. So bed time at 7pm DF at 10/11pm and then she would wake at 2 and 5 am till she started sleeping 7-7am at 10weeks. Well they say no 2 babies are the same and im finding that out the hard way as i had high hopes we could get into a sililar routine with DD2. Sadly its not to be. So to summerise, you think i should not DF at 10pm just let her wake naturally for her feed? Some of my friends took this route and their children ended up being early risers so really wanted to avoid that if at all possible.

My LO is the same, only wants to sleep in a quiet dark room never in public. We shared a room on holiday, put her in the crib watched a movie on the iPad under the covers and waited for her to nod off. After say 30 mins transferred her into her pram and covered it with a black out blind and off we went. Also if the time difference works in your favor then keep on same times ie we went to Singapore for Xmas and instead of going to bed at 7 pm she went at 11 pm and got up at 11 am instead of 7 am.

Hi Ladies, I bought an Iphone 4s when they first came out in the states (unlocked version) and gradually the reception on the phone has deteriorated to the point where now i only use it for the internet at home as no reception anywhere. Does anyone know where i can get someone to have a look at it? I would return only i have misplaced the receipt. TIA
