Try extending her current bedtime by 15mins for 3 nights then another 15mins for 3 nights so on and so forth till you reach 7pm. But agree with another poster, get her down before the eye rubbing and she may sleep for longer as then she wont be overtired when she goes down. Try to look for her cues before the eye rub such as pulling at ears, sneezing staring off into space.

DS is almost a year old and i have decided to gradually wean him off. I know it is a slow process and it might take 2-3 months considering his dependence on it! he doesn't take bottle though i have started giving him bottle with a few mils of cow's milk, which sometimes he drinks sometimes he completely refuses, well the struggle is on! He doesn't frink from sippy cup, takes water from a straw and won't drink from it. I would love if anybody can share tips to wean him off. Any website/book that has helped you? He sleeps from 8:30pm to 7:30 am but gets up once or twice looking for b00b and goes back immediately if i feed him and if i don't and try calming him down he cries and cries until he gets his way.. You said it yourself he cries and cries until he gets his way! There is no doubt that listening to your baby cry is the hardest thing to do but you are teaching him that if he continues to cry then he WILL get his own way eventually. If mumsays no then he must learn that you mean no. Perhaps give him lots of exta cuddles but no booby, a sip of water, stay with him till he goes back to sleep, reassure him more during the day and esp at bedtime. Have dad go through for a few nights but not you then wont be tempted to go for the easy solution (booby) this will only take a few nights atmost a week. Good luck!

Wow, thats sounds like a tough day! My dd woke at 7am BF,milk at 8.30am then slept till 11am, milk then lunch at 12.30pm then slept till 3pm milk and then play till dinner at 5.30pm and milk at 6.45pm bed at 7 pm and slept right through. Make sure your bub is getting enough daytime sleep as this is what disturbs bubs the most at night as they dont sleepwell if overtired. Look for sleep cues as maybe being put for a nap when overtired and thats why only sleeping for such a short time. Sleep cues include sneezing, rubbing face and yawning. I wouldn't feed during the night, there is no need for this after a baby reaches 4kg. If wakes at night i would show them their dummy or thumb and encourage to settle themselves even if this takes many nights practice and up the quantity of daytime feed if you feel this is nescessary. Comfort feeding may work in the short term but you are not teaching the baby good sleep habits and giving yourself enough of a break esp if you have another child. Iam a great advocate of Cecile De Scaly (midwife) try giving her a ring.

I find the ones who are very aggressive are usually the ones with really low self esteem and that makes me feel sorry for them. Anyone who has to pick on others on an online forum usually wouldn't have the guts to it in public. There is always a way of saying things so as not to cause offense even if one does not agree with a certain opinion, those who dont manage it have yet to grow up.

Very, very simple and quick one (torte's just a posh name for it): Mascarpone and Lime torte 200g ginger (or other) biscuits, crushed 50g butter, melted 2 x 250g (500g by any other name) tubs mascarpone cheese 40g icing sugar, sifted finely grated zest and juice of 2 limes (or 1 lemon or 1 orange) Mix biscuits and butter and press into 18cm/7in spring-sided or loose-bottomed cake tin Beat everything else together (can add 1-2 tablespoons fruit liqueur) and spread over biscuit base. Chill for 30 mins. That's it! Can decorate with lime slices or grated chocolate or melted chocolate drizzled over (I never bother with that stuff - it's delicious as is.) That sounds great! Wasn'tlooking for this but am off to buy the ingredients. YUM!

Maybe a joiner in Satwa could rustle you something up. You can buy the kit to make these yourself at B&Q back home for about 80GBP so have no idea why they are usually 4000+aed over here.

Cafe ceramique is at town centre mall and festival city. Better go sooner than later though as the item you choose has to be glazed and takes a few days once you've done your design. Took DH to IFly for his birthday and he just loved it. edited by nutty on 13/06/2011

We have been buying themfor the last 5 years or so and love them. We now get them with our airmiles card and get one for each car. If you use the aquaventure ones then you have nearly got back your initial investment. I would buy them even this far into the year and a bonus when guests come to stay.

Ok am feeling even more guilty now, i did/do appreciate the gesture and had been looking forward to it for ages so was really gutted when i didnt see anything that i wanted.Perhaps should have spoken to staff and see if they could have taken the coffe out of the fois gras option or similar but to be honest was really embarassed to do so. The thing is, although i appreciate it i would have prefered to go out for something lesss extravagant as i dont see the need to spend mega bucks on food and would have preffered to go hot air ballooning for that kind of money. But as said before it was his anniversary too so am now going to have to make it up to him. Any ideas? Sorry, but just how picky [i'>are[/i'> you to not find a single thing on a menu to eat ? Too late, the moment's passed - all you can do is apologise and explain it like you have here and hope he doesn't take you to macdonalds next year lol I so agree with Sue. Put yourself on his shoes. You own him a big apologie for your tantrum. No there was no tantrum, read earlier post for how it was said, but i guess no matter how it was said, it was said! Iam not generally a fussy eater but i think my expectations were high based on the resort and then felt cheated when i saw the menu. TBH the menu was not very discriptive and felt under pressure by the pomp and ceremony. Just not my kind of thing. We have agreed to check menu's online in future as obviously dont want to go through that again. As for DH shouting, totally out of character, he apologised and i knew i had really upset him which makes me upset writing this.

If I were in this hypothetical situation, I might not take an innocent day trip by car to Oman. Much easier than booking flights, etc and going through the whole airport mess. And if i wasn't coming back then would have a car some way behind me with the airline tickets and suitcases in.

Try asking DH to ask his work colleagues what is the normal womens wear at such an event, you never know they might have noticed/be useful. Where are the drinks? Nothing too short or revealing but wouldn't go stressing about a little flesh. Im sure you have something in your wardrobe that is suitable with perhaps a glittery shrug or so?

Hi, we stayed at the Amari coral beach on a B&B basis. Its a good 10min walk into Bangla road but we enjoyed the calm of the resort with access to the nightlife rather than being in the middle of it. The breakfast is amazing and so big no need to bother with lunch. The Thai themed night is one of the better one and the buffet is huge with lobster, prawns atc The rooms mostly have sea views and there was 2 pools. Further up the hill was a beautiful boutique resort if not staying, well worth going for dinner. Have fun and beware of the dodgy boat trips to phi phi that leaves you a deserted island all afternoon.

Sounds like sugar ants, pest control had to come twice to get rid but make sure you do it quick as they spread likewild fire. Also invest in some airtight sealers for food as this encourages them.

I also suffer from chronic sinisitus. After 10 years of living in Dubai i have finally managed to get it under control as am allergic to dust and have recently found out that i am lactose intolerant. The lactose intolerance is the major factor though, since finding out and avoiding all dairy my symtoms have reduced dramitically! I also use rhinomer nasal wash before 2 puffs of Nasonex twice daily to wash out the sinus before using the spray. Also noticed that an upper respitory tract infection can give identical symptoms to sinus infection and have found singulair daily a great relief also. Good luck, keepinvestigating until you find the underlying reason for the problem (also have a deviated septum but has never bben the real reason)
