My neighbours in the springs have a chalet in their carport for their maid for the same reason with an a/c box hooked up. I have also friends that dug down into their garden and then built an independant structure so it didnt come above the partition wall, quite pricey though. You could remove the door and then put a sliding door on the room so that you dont lose the space when the door is opened.

We went for xmas 2 years ago and stayed at the residence inn on times square or about 500aed a night, bargain for NY! Great rooms too as NY hotel rooms are infamously small, this had a kitchen and sofa bed so big enough for a weeks stay without feeling like your going mad. Only thing was the lifts were a bit slow but they offered a free brekkie and the location was fantastic. Have a wonderful time. We got a NYCcard that lets you in to lots of locations for a discounted price to so worth checking out. Think there was a thread a few months ago with something similar.

No Geant and C4 have bags of freshly frozen veg and is normally much cheaper than fresh (and tastier). For example a plummet of blueberries cost 25aed from Spinneys, from Geant 12 aed for 500g. These freeze well and defroft in mins, great with some yoghurt and banana for the baby. As for corgettes i buy fresh, cook and freeze. C4 also sell frozen spinach, brocolli, carotts etc great for steaming as an accompniment or for making a quick puree or a batch of homemade soup. We bought a big chest freezer and put in utility room and also have a fridge freezer so we rarely run out of bits n pieces. Also keep a few packs of paratha's as the take away shop goes yucky by the time they arrive and always keep some pastry for end of the week chefs surprise pie.

Hi, we have a big chest freezer at home and freeze our monthly shop. We buy fresh frozen broccoli, cauliflower, carrotts, spinach, berries, celery, courgette and defrost and use as we need. Great for making up baby purees as fast and you dont waste so much. In regards to meat we freeze minced beef and lamb, steaks, sausages, all fish etc Normally will take out in the morning and by dinner time is good to use. We also but the C4 ciabatta as it freezes great and defrost in 5 mins so you always have fresh bread! We also freeze rosemary, garlic, ginger. I do live quite near a supermarket but hate making the trip so we do a monthly shop and weekly buy in fresh milk etc

Oh so we will be neighbours then! Block 2G in District 2 is front row from security gate, 2 beds then back to back 1 beds then back to back 2 beds. The 2 beds are the ones with the car parking spaces for 2 cars and the 1 bed only has 1 parking space. There is also a block in District 7 and a few in district 8 and 9.

No the townhouses that i speak of are in the triangle, there are only a few blocks of 1 bed and 2 bed ready but loads due to be released in 6 months or so. The triangle is next to the springs and the circle is on the other side of the Khail road as seen on wiki map or dubizzle.

Who knows when the road you speak of will open as they haven't even started to build it and its taken them 5 years to do the parallel road project. Went to see the villas in JVC and wow you get a lot of space for your money but the access is shocking and Nakheel have failed to respond to any enqiries made to them regarding this issue. From what i understand you can only access through gate 10 with no entry from Barsha south or the Emirates road. If you need the space and dont mind the construction then may be a good option. Heard they have a supermarket at the bottom of the Atlantis staff accomodation buliding.

There's a woman in the marina who makes stickers to order, she sometimes advertises on Dubizzle, prices are really good. If not, them Home centre also sells the stickers and there is a stall at Ibn Battuta that does stickers for walls but not sure of their prices. I wouldn't match the curtains to the wall/paper, its too twee, pick an accent colour and then you will be able to reuse them. Perhaps get matching tie backs or so.

Thanks ladies for the reply. Think we will go for the townhouse and not the independant villa as many people have converted the huge upstairs lounge in the townhouse (much smaller in the independant villa) into a 3rd bedroom. Now that they have opened the road from JVT to the spings towncentre in has become an ideal option for us. We negotiated with the LL about the painting and he has agreed to compromise. Think we sneak our own gas bottle in the moving truck as not paying 1500aed, period! Or we may just buy an electric cooker. Dubai cat have a look on wiki maps and you can download a detailed map of the community.

Where i used to live (Crawley, near Gatwick) the local Tesco had a security guard at the front door denying entry to those in PJ's. I have seen serveral slummy mummies with no shame doing the school run. My best friend who is a child minder tells me all about them who drop off their children at 6am with last night nappy on and this is in an affluent area! Am so not surprised.

Firstly well done you for realising that a heathier lifestyle is the way ahead. I am sure you can do anything that you can set your mind to and wish you lots of support for when you really want that drink or that choccie bar. Its best to do 30 mins every day but for many people thats not realistic so doing as many classes as you can fit in or buying a dvd for at home and doing what you can when you can will give your metabolism a boost but overdo it and you will quickly lose interest and it then becomes a chore. I aim to fit in what i can round the baby and hubby's work schedule but its not easy. If you deny yourself a treat now and then then this will not be sustainable long term and you will be posting on here again before xmas for sure. I try to plan my weekly meals and have healthy options in the fridge for snacks and meals so that the temptation to over eat or go out for chocolate/ice cream is reduced but i do allow myself the occasional treat or would binge at every oppertunity. Aim to make it a lifestyle choicerather than a diet which is short term. Good luck!

We have loads of stuff go missing from the washing line and even shoes from the back door, have heard that it people servicing the area who take it and hide it in beside the gas/water pumps to pick up at a later date. Best to post pictures in your local area to see if people want their stuff back and inform the security guards. Good luck!

Grrrr! Am prone to UTI's also but the really ugly hemoragging variety. I wear cotton undies no thongs, take cranberry tablets, avoid sugarry sweets/drinks etc I take the Ural sachets at the first sign but normally have to get Uvamin antibiotic from the docs or if really bad the hospital. Its miserable esp when you have the wee one to look after. Cyber hugs!

My dd has a bit of seperation anxiety at the moment, some days worse than others. May just be her way of re-adjusting from the trip. I would stick to her normal routine and be a bit more cuddly towards her for a few days but not neccesarily picking her up all the time, just talking to her when you leave the room and getting down to her level when she gets upset and pray that it passes. Good luck!

The cheapest place to buy these is in the big gift bag shop in the dragon mart, you buy big packs of the stuff for pennies/dirhams. We always buy lots of it to go in the gift bags and they do it hundreds of colours and designs. Think the shop is near FA as you walk in but ask and someone will point you in the right direction.

Dubai municipality vets gives them for free but its a bit of a trek to find them ( near mirdif). Any vets can sell you them. Frontline is for ticks and fleas and not deworming as it cannot kill bacteria in the gut when applied externally.

You dont them off at a play area you either leave them in their stroller to sleep or the playmats are in the corner of the fitness studio so that you keep an eye on them yourself whilstworking out. I started taking my DD at 8 weeks and she either slept through the whole thing or was quite happy to watch mummy jumping about like a lunatic. In between songs i would go over and see her now she prefers to play with all the other babies at 8 months. All the other mums do the same and if the kids wont settle then you can adapt the excercise to hold the baby and do it at the same time.

Suzyqs, you must get a discount being a long time customer as have just called them and they quoted 650aed for shoulder length hair and 125aed for each shampoo and conditioner. Also said i would have to go back in 2 days to get it waashed out. I understood that you had it done and then didnt have to go back or is that another type of treatment?

So, when i spoke to the lady at Tony and Lees she told me that they have a special offer on for this month for 500aed and 200aed for the shampoo and conditioner. She told me it was the brazilian keratin treatment and would take 1.5hours on my thick shoulder length hair. I asked her if it contained formaldehyde at which point my scottish accent seemed to confuse her, not sur if on purpose or not! Anyone used this salon or had this treatment done?

Just remebered, if you arrive and leave when the public buses are running then there is no need to take the hotel hoppa as the buses around bath road are free of charge. Bus no 222 takes you half way up the bath road past the rennaisance, marriott, sheraton and a few others. There are 2 pubs in walking distance, the 3 magpies and another award winning one thats name escapes me.

Long shot but you could try dubizzle. I have seen some pretty decent stuff (and some dodgy) on there and know friends who regularly sell good quality items for a fraction of there original price. Another thought is the outlet mall, priceless and other shops carru evening wear at good prices, not sure about the styles though. Good luck. edited by nutty on 15/05/2011

You may have to phone and book it with the Emirates training college if customer service know nothing of what i speak or even pop by there. Its the old building looks like an aircraft just next to the aviation club.

Easy, use acetone nail polish remover, soak pad in and then apply to nail and wrap with tin foil and leave for 10/15 min, keep checking and then remove with wood tip thing to scratch off or leave a bit longer and should wipe off.

I would contact Emirates customer service and ask them about the aircraft service mock ups that are used to teach the crew in. The crew have a service test based in a mock aircraft which is free of charge for lunch and is held once a week, perhaps you could ask to take part with the children to get them used to the enviroment either for lunch or to stop by afterwards to get familiar. Worth a shot.

You could try tinting the windows, we are in a south facing villa so we get the sun all day, we used to put foil (unsightly) on the windows in summer and it did make a difference until we went ahead and got the windows tinted.

Wheelchair accesible seat means that even in a fixed armrest cabin there are a few seats designed so that the armrest can be moved although very tricky for the crew. Most airlines esp EU have to have these. Theywill prob be blocked incase of a whcr booking but can ask for these at check in or speak to airline about this.
