I am allergic to dust too and itcan make you very miserable so you have my sympathy. I use RHINOMER stregth 3 from the chemist about 45aed twice a day to wash out my sinuses and use flexonase spray twice a day to keep symptoms at bay.I also have air purifiers upstairs and down. I have allergy protctive liners on my mattress and pillows. I have very little rugs and a leather sofa as these are places for allergens to lurk. Ive been in Dubai 10 years and it is manageable with a bit of effort.

Pretty sure you need to get a health card first for LO's. We got ours from Latifa hospital go before1pm. They give you a clinic depending on where your tenancy agreement says somake sure you take it. We use the clinic at Safa park. Health card was approx 100aed and we dont pay for vaccinations.

I done mine through Cecile and it was good to strike up a relationship with her as i leaned on her heavily once DD was born for sleep training and other stuff. I took a package with her for 10 sessions over 6 months and got more than my moneys worth.

I have been to London 3 times since DD was born (now 16 months). Buses will ask you to fold the pram if more than 1 on at a time. Tube stops, most dont hanve disabled access but never waited long for a volunteer to help carry the pram down/up the stairs. Most people are very helpful. Found London one of the easier cities to get around with a pram as most shops/buildings have disabled ramps. Would take a harnss though for rush hour.

If no luck on here will drop it in to the mall security. Just hope it gets back to the owner and not "lost". Sorry but fits neither of the 2 rings described. Good luck with your search.

Just practical stuff like what do you need to bring, do you have to subscribe up front, and how much does it cost? Also, do you need to be in good shape (cos I'm not...)? Thanks Wear loose clothing, trainers. Can bring along LO if you already have. Yes you sign up for a 4 week block but so far i have been paying as i go 50aed/class.No dont need to be in good shape (im not). Bring a towel and water. They also have a class in Al Brasha park on a wednesday morning at 9am at the front gate and can also bring LO in a buggy.

Ours expired last year some time. Spent hours when it all started (back in the day) trying to book an appointment online during the horrendous 'frenzy' that ensued to initially get one, eventually ended up driving to Al Ain to 'do it'. Now as ours have expired DH goes to 'a government facility' to renew and is told he must pay 760 Dirhams fine to renew (for each of us), he told them where to stick it. We went out of our way to get this 'thing' whilst others didn't and now we're being penalised for trying...yet again.. to do the right thing. Its things like this that make me hate Dubai so much. 760 each equates roughly to 270 uk pounds 420 us dollars, for trying to be good, and for what? In the words of my late mother " **** that off!" I noticed the day before we flew out for xmas that my ID had expired in October, ooops! Took it and my original PP to MOE typing centre and had the PP back in 3 hours and paid the fee for another 3 years and left with no fine. Got an sms 3 days ago to say it was ready and someone would be in touch to deliver but nothing as yet. No trouble leaving or entering Dubai.

If you are looking at doing your Emirates ID, the EIDA in Barsha can also do it and you save yourself the driving around and do everything in the same place. The only downside is that when I went, I had to wait for 2 hours for the typing bit alone!!! Mind you, that was in September when they probably had the big rush with everyone trying to process before the deadline, so maybe things are a bit calmer now. They no longer do it and will refer you to the typin centre in Al Barsha.

Hello ladies Half way! I'm better with the morning sickness, but feel like I do nothing but sleep all day... Very frustrating! I do feel the baby kicking a lot, which is such a wonderful feeling Can you tell us a bit more about those classes at Ductac? I had a look on their website, but couldn't find anything. They sound interesting! I've been looking at prenatal courses in the area of Mediacity - Lakes - MOE but they should be in the mornings as my DS is home from nursery in the afternoon. So far without success :-( So these Ductact lessons sound perfect :-) The classes are held in Ductac mall of the Emirates at 10.15am on a Monday in the Chaloub room, you can bring your LO. They have an enclosed place with mats and lots of toys and the LO's run around whilst us mummies to be (again) do some gently preganncy desingned excercises. Not really sure what else you want to know?

Whilst out walking the dog the last few days i have noticed the odd advertisement selling on gardens, perhaps worth a look. Our neighbour has the astroturf but said it was better to have it professionally laid otherwise can rise and have to make sure the ground is even etc before putting down. Saw it for 45aed/metre in dragon mart at the H end.

Nutty - Did you have to get the services of the LC at AH separately or you get to see the LC if you deliver there? I wouldn't mind to have to pay extra if the nurse is good - Can you tell me more about it, please? Hi, the LC name was Naz and was recommended to me by Cecile De Scaly as AH were at the time DD was born the only hospital to have a LC on their staff to visit mums after delivery. I am not sure if you can pay to go to her directly but she did tellmeto pop by any timei had a question.... Only works Sun-Thu office hours though.

I suffered with this with DD from early on and i did prenatal pilates and yoga to relieve the pain. It really worked! This time round am getting the PSD pains and have been going to Blooming fit in Al Barsha park, the woman who runs it is a physio and tailors the class round your aches and pains. We do core girdle excercise so that its not your back that takes the pressure and supposed to help the flab return to normal after delivery too. If you fancy giving it a go its on a Wednesday morning at the main gate at 9am.

Beetles 19; You can travel with a certificate after 27weeks up to 36 weeks. Cannot travel after that unless its an emergency or death in the family. Airline will need to see death certificate and you need some really expensive insurance. I gave birth here and had my parents arrive a week later as DH went back to work and to be honest couldn't wait for them to leave and get into a proper routine in our house. Too much conflicting advice wanted to get to know DD but couldnt really do so till the parents left. Will not be making that mistake this time. Cakes: Feeling good but get tired out so easily,no swelling as yet but know it will eventually creep in.

Hi, i didn't find out the gender of my first born DD and thought it would do good to buy everything in neutrals incase the second was the opposite gender. Well now i'm going to have 2 girls and am going a bit pink daft! LOL! I delivered atAH and have only have great things to say about them. Have visited friends in City but cant comment on them firsthand. I would be up for getting together with other mums to be but would have to be in a child friendly place for me as gone are the days of a quiet coffee and full conversations. If that doesn't put you off then would love to meet up or i do a gentle fitness class for pregnant ladies called blooming fit on a Monday at Ductac 10.15am or on a Wednesdat at Al Barsha park at 9am for anyone who wants to join? edited by nutty on 18/01/2012

I used the LC at AH for the first week or 2 to perfect the latch and then Cecile De Scaly for support.Imust say i would never have persevered without so much help as i naturally didnt like BF and suffered a lot of guilt because of this. I also had mastitis several times before eventually stopping at 6 months. I will of course be seeking support 2nd time around as i want to BF and am glad that due to all the support given i was able to give the best start to my child.

IMO once you'vemade the break its better not to go back otherwise will be sending him confusing messages and may learn next time if he cries hard enough may get his own way. Think i would stay with him and dad and have extra snuggles without offering the boob and extra cuddles before bathtime etc.

I put on 25kg with DD,given i was only 60kg to start with that is/was a lot! Giving birth it just fell off but a few weeks into BF and i was piling on the weight. Took me 9 months to see 60kg again and 2 weeks later was pregnant again,i started excercising after 6 weeks but didnt loose any till i stopped BF. . Exactly the same weight at 24weeks as i was with DD so expecting the same to happen again. Midwife toldme to eat more porridge etc calories that give slow energy release and dont make your sugar levels fluctuate rapidly as this is when you crave sugary/bad foods. Keep on hand carrot/celery sticks, raisins, almonds, oat cakes so to avoid eating high calorie carbs when out and about. Eat little and often of the right stuff. Plan easy healthy meals as looking after LO will take up most of your time. Have you heard about/tried pure fitness classes where you take the LO? edited by nutty on 18/01/2012

I called her, they want to live together in your house. I think I missed something...huh? So confused. Maybe I clicked on the link wrong? Sounds like she is saying that this lady wants to live with her DH, but in the house of whoever employs her...not YOU specifically, unless you are the one who hires her. She has to understand that it is illegal for you to have her DH living in your house if he is not sponsored by you. She would be better off living out and finding a place they can live together. edited by momof3 on 17/01/2012 Must stop typing in a hurry.LOL! Yes when i called her she said she wanted a room for her and her husband to live together in. I wasn't aware this is illegal but thanks for letting me know.

Just to clarify, I am a native English speaker but do tend to ramble and type without checking all typo's. My point was, after having lived in Dubai 10 years and listening to the awfull abuse of the English language form both native and non native speakers,i have the right to choose who educates my child and to what levels. I perhaps dont have the technical skillor elequonce of my peers but it is important enough to me to want the best for my child. I realise the importance of such a skill in the job market etc as another poster pointed out. Many teachers are non native with excellent grammar and pronuciation agreed but after touring a lot of nurseries i found manyof the teachers were what i was looking for, however, the teaching assistants were not and with the sizes of classes what they are i would prefer not to have my child exposed to this level of English on a daily basis. The examples of the English i don't want her exposed to are not making fun or trying to be rude. Back home, the kids are exposed to US/Aus English through the media and will be understood should DD pick any up but telling her teacher that her arm is paining could lead to a lot of confusion and embarressment. edited by nutty on 18/01/2012

Mt friend gave birth there last week to her 2nd. Her doctor was oringinally at city hospital where she delivered her first and has now moved to American. Her words yesterday were that her overall experience at AH was far better than that at city as she felt it was more personal care and attention and a lot more organised. I also delivered atAH last year and had a great experience and plan to do so again in a fewmonths.

My DD is just learning to talk and we choose her nursery based on amongst other things the nationality of the teachers as we didnt want her to learn in our opinion improper English. Living in this multicultural enviroment it is fair to say she will be exposed to different pronunciations and words with the same meaning but we didnt want her learning the wrong grammar/tense that are so commonly misused her. Sure enough my DD's teacher left and was replaced with another fully qualified teacher but we choose to remove her when we told to park at the "backside" of the building and told she had emptied her "tiffin box".

You could try purefitness classes where you take your LO woth you and do an excercise class then most of the mums go for a coffee afterwards or Mumcierge.ae a coffee morning on Wednesday morning in Sezzam mallof the Emirates, 20aed and they have a kids play area. Most parks are fullof kids from 4pm onwards so good to get down there and check them out. Do you have any hobbies? Good way to meet people.

The cabin crew on this Emirates flight clearly got involved: http://tinyurl.com/emiratesfight I worked for the airlines for 11+ years,in all this time if a customer had a do not disturb sticker on their seat (as EKprovide) then regardless of seat position i would never wake them up. The airline provides a recline button for a reason and its written nowhere that a seat must be upright for the meal service. However, i do believ most people police themselves in such matters and are generally considerate (yes really). The comments written at the bottom of the article in link are disgusting and action would certainly be taken against anyone acting in a mob like mentality/fashion.
