I cant give my 16month old dairy or cows milk after 3pm bacause she wakes up screaming in the early hours if i do. Dr said some children cant process it properly until 2+ years. Couldbe that or by this age they wait to see what you're going to do and then play you. Ifhe's getting enough calories in the day then no need to feed at night just have to be consistent with settling him and stick to the same every night. Will take a few nights to get back your control and he wont like it but will get the message after a few nights.

If you had kicked up a stink the crew may have forced into phoning the police and then its nasty for all concerned including witnesses as the giving of statements takes quite some time and whilst their action are inexcuseable i can see why EK decided to try and ignore the matter. Not saying anyone exp kids should be subjected to this but this can get messy very quickly. Would have demanded the crew seperate them regardless of alcohol in system you are entitled to complain but if intoxicated better to get DH or others to do so on your behalf but you are not in the wrong for drinking and shouldn't feel like you dont have rights.

Hi Nutty, I have seen in a post about maxi cosi isofix that you got the isofix hooks installed from Nissan in Dubai. I spoke to them, but they behave like they never heard of it. May i ask you to help me? Where and when was it done and what type of car was it? My contact at Nissan told me if i get those details he will maybe able to help me. it is so annoying...bought the family fix and my Qashqai has no hooks... would be happy if you could get in touch. thanks so much...Claudia We have a Nissan Qashqai (bought new 2008/9)and checked there website before buying the familyfix base and said there would be the isofix points inside the car as the car is made in the UK and it is a standard. However what we didn't know was that wehn they are shipped to the UAE these are removed as its not a standard here. We wrote a nice nice letter to Nissan Europe CEO asking if the children in the UAE were deemed not as important as in the UK and lone behold had a telephone call from Nissan Europe later in the week promising to retrofit the isofix points free of charge in their branch next to City Centre Deira. The parts had to be ordered and flown in from the UK and it was the first time thet had done such a job so the mechanice photographed the job being done. Please contact the Deira branch and let me know how you get on. Think the manager is a SA guy, very helpful.

We used a routine Eat, activity, sleep as per the baby whisperer and Cecile. Just didnt realise how to recognise sleep cues and different cry sounds. Had to make the activity much less and look out for blinking, staring off, sneezing etc all the things i had missed until Cecile had pointed themout. By this time i had taken away my DD's ability to self settle and had to re teach her how to do this (the crying from bith sides) Hardest thing i have ever done but No 2 is on the way and am geared up for trying to get into a good routine ASAP after she is here. Dont think we wouldhave gotten to the good sleep naturally as had taken away her ability to self soothe and didn't realise how much sleep she needed. Dont think all babies thrive on timed routines although mine certainly did but i know a structured routine where mother and baby knows what happens next and most importantly consistency ie not to try something one day and not the next makes for a happier family life all round.

The other thing to consider is that your daughter may have done this anyway. ;) As we all acknowledge, every baby is different; every parent-child relationship is different. Sure, the routines you implemented may have taught her how to sleep. Maybe she just would have done it that way anyway. May be true for some babies but really doubt it for my DD. At 5 weeks she hadnt slept for longer than an hour either on me,boob or sling. Was at the point where i wanted to return het to the hospital because she wouldn't stop crying because she was soo tired. That was the first thing Cecile taught me was how to distinguish the cries. With a lot more crying on both parts she finally learnt how to settle herself and slept 18 hours a day tll she was 6/7months and now at 16months still sleeps 12 hours at night and 3 hours in the day. I personally dont believe we would have ever have gotten there if it had not been for the sleep training with Cecile. I'm wondering what the **** was. "Feelings" and "abandonment" are very real concerns for wee babies. How sad if you've just discounted this as nonsense. :( Like i said each to their own, wonder how we all made it to be well adjusted people when all this new age stuff is a recent concern.

Not been to Bali but stayed in Langkawi at the Datai (Andaman the family hotel next door on same private beach) We loved it. We went in June and was rainy season but wouldn't have known. Hotel was remotely placed but we hired a car for the duration of our stay and popped back and forth no problem. Langkawi is cheap and the food is awesome. Even the 5* hotel prices in resteraunts wasn't too bad, cheaper than Dubai. Romantic dinner on the veach or in rainforest, could charter hotels yacht to take you to private islands surrounding.

Well I don't know if where I am coming from we make it differently, but I really don't believe in such things as Training to sleep. I was also a "cradle and rocking" mother for my DD, till she reached the age of 10 months or a bit more, and she could no longer fit in my arms comfortably. Then we moved to the stroller and when she turned 12 months she magically started to sleep in her crib on her own, with a bottle of milk and music. It took my a carpat tunel syndrome (more or less) a lot of effort, many sleepless nights and days, (she wasn't much of a nap sleeper as well) and several break downs to realise that; Every baby is different, every mom as well The time they are babies is so short you will definetely miss it after is gone, so enjoy it, even with extra rocking I hated myself for the times I left her crying in her cot just hoping she will fall asleep exhausted (thank God not too many times) I believe maternity is special because we turn to different people, more passionate, more generous, more caring, more everything (not to mention more weight ;) ) Don't try to settle your baby to sleep alone, he might just feel insecure and soothens himself by your smell, keep talking, singing and explaining, they are so much smarter and able to understand things than we think. I did the same, and I still do till today. It always works, not immediately, but I see it does. Be a mom to your child all 24 hours. This will never change! Let's not compare our children with other. Some sleep, some other not, some eat, some other not, some talk earlier, some will not. But still they are our children, they are unique, they deserve all the efforts! Just let your self enjoy it and it will come. You will remember me on this! My DD slept through the night 7pm to 7am with an 10.30pm dream feed from 10 weeks. We started implementing a routine at about 5 weeks. Dont believe in any **** about "feelings" and "abandonement" but thats not a slight at others each to their own. Its a choice you make as an individual/couple and what suits your parenting style. People have always said to me your so lucky your DD is a great sleeper, well thats not luck that was hard work on our part and have a healthy happy secure toddler who still sleeps well. Couldn't have done it without Cecile's advice and support even though a lot of people areagainst CIO we found it worked for us and were a happier family because of it. Some of my friends babies didn't sleep through until 10/12 months but i beliveve thats choice on their part. We teach a child right from wrong so why not how to sleep.

We have the Smmer baby touch video monitor and live in a big JVT villa. We have to keep the monitor at the bottom of the stairs to get a signal. My friend in the springs (type2) has the same problem. Not really much of an issue for us as we just get yup to check it every so often, depends on how big your villa is.

Dont go to Seychelles unless have money to burn. Its VERY expensive unless your all inclusive and even then that gets boring and you will pay more to eat out when touring the island. Is very beautiful but wouldn't pay to go there, just for work. Think Barbados with poorer service, its a getto outside the 5* hotels.

We done sleep training with Cecile De Scaly from birth and DD slept independantly form 10 weeks. 7pm-11pm dreamfeed 11.15pm-7am till 6 months and then 7pm-7am. She used to nap 3 times a day and was always put down awake and self settle, not sure how i'd even get her to go to sleep on me anyway! We did let her CIO during the day but never at night, she got it very quickly (4/5days). Well worth trying. A lot of people slate CIO methods but for us it was a choice we never regretted and now have a happy confident toddler. edited by nutty on 21/12/2011

I always use DSF to stockup on homewares such as sheets and towles from the white company, new bath mats, placemats etc I also buy Xmas cards and wrapping paper etc for next year (have huge family). I always buy good brand shoes and hand bags in the sales. There aresome good sales on just now though have just kitted out my DD's full bedroom from PBK for a fraction of the original cost. Depends what you're after, worth waiting if your not desperate for the items.

We've got baby #1 on the way and we went with a cot bed from M&P. We are hoping to have at least two kids eventually so we thought with the cot bed that baby #1 can keep using the cot bed until baby #2 arrives at which time #1 will move to a big boy bed and we will convert the cot bed back to a cot. In the States I'm pretty sure that cots with the drop rail have stopped being sold due to the risk of the drop rail falling and pinching baby. I know some will say they are safe but there must be some merit to the safety concerns for the drop rail system to stop being sold in some parts of the world. Yes have also read about many infant deaths sue to drop sided cots/cot beds. Wouldn't go there. As for your question, how close far will your children be? Reason i ask is you may want to put the older child straight into a single/double bed and use the co/cot bed for the next one. Cots are cheaper.

We bought the bugaboo chameleon because the idea of clipping car seat onto frame appealed to us. Used it 6 months in the Pram mode and never used it afterwards as too bulky to load in and outthe car and it comesin 2 parts so just a hassle. We bought a bugaboo bee when DD was 6months and love it.It faces you till they are about a year and then you can turn it round so it faces outwards. It also can be used with the car seat clipped on top and is a 1 fold.

Good luck with your new venture. I loved being management here when i worked, its a huge learning curve though. Being able to delegate i found hard in the begining as i was responsible ultimatley for everything i found it hard to share the workload preferring to take care of it myself to make sure it was done right, 1st mistake I am a firm but fair manager but not every culture respects that and will push boundries if expectations are not clear as well as consequences. Empowering employees is a great motivational factor but only after their skill set and ambitions have been assesed. The biggest skill you can take to management though I believe is assertiveness. When pushed you have to be able to find a win/win situation between all concerned,i took a course 3 times before i got the phrasing and wording as my initial thoughts were too agressive to reach the win/win senarion or worse you could be passive aggressive and just snap at customer or employee and risk everything you have worked for. I amsure you have the right experience for the job now you just have to identify where you would benefit from a little training IE problem solvng in teams, dealing with difficult people, motivational factors, assertiveness, delegation etc.

Tip them the same amount as you did for Eid. So nothing then! There are too many public holidays for all the people of Dubai to tip accordingly, i will only be tipping for the holidays i celebrate and if the company/service dont want it then fine i will have it back. Most shops are now open all day but not so much in the neighbourng spice/silver souk. Try to avoid the afternoon as thats when the cruise ships make their trips there and the owne do tend to put their prices up. Find the gold & diamond park on SHZ road just as reasonable as the gold souk these days.
