Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to Expat Women in need of some advice and friends :) I'm a 24yo single girl from England who moved here a week ago. When I accepted my job, I was told that I would be put up in a hotel for the first 2 months and then 'the girls at work would help me find a place as that's what they've all had to do' within that time. The day before I left, I was sent an email from my manager saying that I would only be in the hotel for a week now as they had found me an 'apartment' to live in straight away where some of the other girls from work live. I thought 'great - saves me the hassle' - until I went to visit it this weekend. I was absolutely appalled and came out in tears. It was like a clean Indian slum. No bigger than a matchbox and I wish I was over exaggerating, I am still in the hotel but move in to the '**** shack' as I am calling it, on Friday. Sorry for the life story... :) So, basically I am looking for a flat mate. I have applied for places on my own but my budget only just scrapes the barrel for what I need. My budget is 4000-5000dh a month, and I am looking for someone who could match that so that we would have 8000-10,000 a month for somewhere quite decent. Ideally, I would love someone British/American or very fluent in English between the ages of 20-30, fun, good sense of humour, and likes to socialise and go out, cleanliness/tidiness/hygiene is necessary. I need to be as close to Al Karamah as possible for work (no more than 10-15 min drive away.) Also, I am looking for new friends in Abu Dhabi, unfortunately the girls at work are very clicky and haven't been the kindest of people to me, but I am remaining positive and keeping a smile on my face as I really want to make this work. If you know anybody who would be interested, please share this with them, or any advise for me on where else I could share this post then please do. Thanks xx Unfortunately you choice of location differs from mine.....I'm currently looking for an expat who would want to share my space with me ...as I've got this big master-bedroom in JBR near the walk..... Big enough for two people.....but looking for just a room mate- a kind pleasant jovial and respectful roommate. Hope you've found a place now

Hello Bob, It can't be that baaaad! Cheer up. I was in a similar situation also. All the good friends i Knew that lived in Dubai left-as in relocated or got married and moved out. I was thinking about how difficult it was going to get to make new friends. I found a group on Facebook called Expat Connect. I clicked on their website, signed up and since then, my life hasn't been the same. I met some really good amazing people from different works of life and nationalities; when i started attending their monthly networking events. Maybe you should try doing the same. Now I feel like I've met an amazing family ...because we are all one happy big family. Hope this helps you meet the right people, make friends and network as well....Cheers

To get an aupair to work in Dubai is almost impossible. I use to work as an aupair nanny a couple of years ago in Saudi and Beirut. I t was a beautiful experience. However I was made to understand that certain nationalities are only allowed to work as nannies in Dubai. So it is going to be very hard to get an Au Pair of your choice. Unless you're lucky enough to get an African -Au Pair nanny whose nationality is one of the listed nationalities allowed to work as nanny in Dubai. Good luck with your search and check out http://nanny-agency.com/ That was where I was found! Now I work as an Administrator in Dubai.....Hope you find what you're looking for.
