You ladies are just jealous that you don't speak a language hardly anybody else knows. I bet you would do the same if you could. ? And no, it doesn't bother me. These girls work extremely long hours in an awkward position so I'm always happy to see them enjoy themselves. If you're kind to them it will not be on your expense and anyway, if it was I wouldn't care.

Al Bayt at The Palace is lovely. Went there last week with a friend and had their traditional afternoon tea. There is a voucher in the Entertainer Family. Cost-- Dh 130, so basically paid Dh 65 each for two massive stands of delicious treats. We sat on the terrace which overlooks old town island and has a great view of the Burj. Highly recommended :) Shush, don't tell! ?

Hi Ladies I'm looking for a used double or 3/4 bed and mattress for the maid. Does anyone have one to sell? I've looked on dubizzle and the classifieds and am coming up short! If i do get a new one, how much would you budget? And where ( other than IKEA!) I'm dreading having to make a trip to dragonmart, on my own, after a long day at work! Thank you!! Would you buy a used bed for ourself? Bear in mind that all possible bedbugs that come with a used bed are being brought into your house. Ikea, PAN and even Dragon Mart as a good selection of cheap new beds.

The stars are cute but they are not serving their purpose anymore. I don't believe ladies here are shallow to approve/disapprove a post based on the person. Surely it is the content? Anyway, have a THUMBS-UP morning everybody! I agree in that it is mainly used to thumb up or down content. It does however have nothing to to with the usefulness of a post, but more about how funny, witty, tongue in cheek and what have you a post is (in the opinion off some). If you look at the threads that generate thumbs, it is more often than not the opinion threads that do. Or the threads where only 2 or 3 posters participate in nonsense. The "where can I find threads" with the useful answers hardly get any thumbs.

Had a quick word with my brother and the plot has thickened. On the day in question his father in law will be over visting, so she is planning an rememberance day for her past mother. Brother said , this is the first time she has done this. He is still brings the kids to our party. It will leave her to remember her mother along with her Dad and his NEW GIRLFRIEND !!! I fail to see how this 'thickens the plot" and I find your suspicions totally uncalled for. Most likely she is making a point to her dad's new girlfriend by remembering her mum on that day, so in my view it only explains why she is not coming to your party. Given the fact that her kids and husband are coming I don't see why you are complaining about this. If you were a real friend you would take to her directly instead of talking to your brother behind her back. I only just learnt that my brother and his kids are coming . Why I posted was to see if it is a cultural thing english people do as when we announced the party she said it clashed with the date of the death anniversary and they all could not come. Her Dad has been married again since and was not even married to the dead mom when she died. She also remarried well before her death. I am not being mean. I was looking for opinions to help my understanding and whether I should cancel on account of the grief. I got your original post and I believe you received plenty of opinions on the cultural aspect. It's your second post about the plot thickening that made me question your approach to this whole issue.

I am totally with CW and DT on this one. How can it even be a topic? It is illegal and therein lies your answer. The fact that other parents let their teenage boys run wild with no respect for the law, doesn't mean you have to too. Teach your son right by setting an example. Can't start early enough with that.

Wadi Rum, Petra and Dead Sea are actually in a loop that is very easy and accessible to drive yourself. So if you don't manage to find a driver, don't panic and get a good rental car. You'll love it.

I remember the day my dad died as well as his birthday. I always make it a point of phoning my mum on both days. My mum who in fact, 30 years later, still has a hard time on the days her parents died. So yes, I believe it's not uncommon to remember. That said, I would not hesitate to celebrates someone else's special day on the day my dad died. So I would say it's your friends personal choice, but it has nothing to do with you or your son.

Nope, I have left phone messages for them to get in touch, with a time I know would work for us both, weekend and weekdays, text messages saying what time I will be in the house, Skype , I have tried everything, I have even contacted other family members to make sure they are ok, and if any one else has heard from them, and yes, they are fine and really looking forward to their holidays in Dubai! They have always spent their holidays with us, no matter where we have lived in the world and we have always had more contact before their trip. Maybe they are super busy this time buying bikinis ! Seems to me you've done more than your bit. Send them an email with directions to taxi and your house. Tell them how much they can expect to pay and where the ATM is at the airport, but that if they don't manage to get dhs, you will advance the fare. Honestly, most of our friends arrive in the middle of the night and they don't expect us to pick them up. We welcome them in our home with a glass if bubbly, no matter what time they arrive and all are perfectly happy with that. We only pick up our parents, as they are all in their 70ties and 80ties.

Back on topic, to OP: To answer your original question: unfortunately I believe the landlord does have the right to change the rules one year along the road, or whenever he wants. That said, I agree with you that it seems a bit unreasonable to prevent children to use the pool after school, especially where 3 of the 4 houses in your compound have kids. If I were you I would probably continue using the pool, ask the kids to be extra quiet and see where it leads you. After all, you've only had one complaint so far. If, as you mention, this feud so far had nothing to do with you, you could even try and speak to your neighbours if they keep complaining. Explain your situation and again caution the kids to be quiet. Chances are you'll be able to win time. In the end the three if you may have to confront the landlord together.
