You have most of the costs covered (assuming that is a live-in salary), except for the annual return flight to her home country. Nour Takaful does domestic servants health insurance for 1500 AED And yes she could babysit twice a week, but make sure you make it clear from the beginning that she will be expected to do so. And I think you should also bear in mind that she will be wanting to spend her days of with her friends, so make sure she doesn't have to babysit every weekend.

Wether it's her boyfriend or her dad, I don't think she can refuse going to Europe with you. Especially since she will be taking her leave in June. She is obviously taking you for a ride. 3 months away from her family?! Too good to be true. So if she continues to refuse, I would end her contract now and hire a new maid, since she doesn't seem to care as much as you think. She must know how important it is for you to have her around when your baby us born. And sure, the new maid will not be able to travel with you, but neither is your current maid if she refuses. Alternatively, if you really want to keep her, you could cancel her June leave and change it to either July or August.

I am no child expert, but what strikes me is that she decided to stop sucking her thumb a few months before your baby was born. Could it somehow be related? Having to share your attention with 2 instead of 1 siblings, her being the eldest?

I see nothing wrong with that. I see everything wrong with it. In this country it is viewed as offensive and can put many locals in an awkward position. I really don't see why breast feeding a baby should be done in a crowded public area when there are other possibilities available. It is not veiwed as offensive. Local people are pro breastfeeding, so much so that they are trying to pass a law insiting that people are fined for not doing it! I'm not talking about the breast feeding itself, but about the apparent flashing of the boobs while doing it in public.

Your landlord must give 90 days notice in order to increase the rent based on the RERA rent increase, so an increase can't be applied unless you were advised of the increase prior to November 1st. . Where exactly does it state that LL should advise 90 days notice to increase the rent? It doesn't. In fact, the rental calculator only works 90 days in advance so it's actually impossible to give the full 90 days' notice of the increase. It's quite simple now - at the point you sign a new contract the latest rate from the rental calculator applies. See, that's what I thought. Have been wondering how people on here keep insisting on 90 days notice for rental increase without it being officially mentioned anywhere at all!

Next year: Get yourself to Irish Village early morning. As long as you're there by 7 you can get all the tickets you want (4 max pp per day). There is NO preference for corporates, they have to use the same queue. Have been doing it for a couple of years now and never been disappointed.

We use our HSBC with most purchases. They team up with air-miles and I must say they add up pretty quick. You can buy Emirates tickets or electronics. In combination with air-miles Card you get double points.

It's a bit too general and the classification is based only on the location and number of bedrooms. There's no allowance for a place being furnished, views, proximity to amenities etc I guess they would say the range covers all these factors but if you have a number of different developments in the same area, there are more factors to consider than bedroom size. That's true, but I doubt landlords or developers will see it that way ?

OMG, we went from 0% in September, to 5 % in November, to 15% increase today! And our contract is due for renewal in February. So far I haven't heard from our Landlord. Is he still supposed to give us 3 months notice on the rental increase, or is that rule down the drain as well?

Oh Celesti, what a terrible turn of events. Go home with your baby, make sure he takes good (financial) care of him and focus on rebuilding your life. Don't waste another minute on them. She's got what she wanted for now (I start to believe her telling you was all a set-up), they'll get theirs. Stay strong, you know you can!

I still think there are worse things that can happen. And why there must be a nag thread for every little thing that gets on people's nerves in this city? Yes, we all have frustrations and things that annoy us, but really a thread for everything? Welcome to the world. It's not only in Dubai that people complain. You hardly hear about the good things, always the bad. However if you read the local papers in the UAE it's usually the other way round. All is great in Dubai, nothing ever fails. Well, the fireworks were fantastic, nobody is denying it. Organisation and basic traffic control was nowhere to be seen. If the nagging bothers you so much, why read or even comment on these threads.

Seems some are determined to break another record: thread deleted within one day into the New Year. I love living in Dubai and would have certainly loved seeing the spectacle on the Palm. But truth is: yesterday's event was very badly organised, as a previous poster mentioned, they royally messed up. I left Jumeirah at 7 pm with a visitors pass to the fronds, gave up at 10.30, turned around and was back home by 11. Popped a bottle and watched the Burj fireworks instead. The news was out, passes would be required, this tells everyone that it is a private event, and to be honest, why were every man and his dog attempting to access any where near the area? The public need to learn a lesson too. Read my post: I DID have a pass.

Just wanted to add: many cars WITH passes were stuck in traffic and did NOT get on. Didn't make it to their parties or homes in time for New Years. Neither did the Sandance busses. People who bought tickets were in their dedicated busses, but the busses were stuck in traffic as well. The worst organisation..... But I guess you won't read that in the papers tomorrow. They accomplished their world record. Bring on the Expo ? Happy New Year everyone.

Oke, I've let all this negativity go on, but this is the limit. I really hope you're kidding! Do you people not have a couple of good friends to spent a fun and relaxing time at home with? There is something in between going to bed grumpy and paying a fortune for some lame party. Lighten up, it's New Years Eve ✨???

Quite interesting that posters think its against a maid's human rights not to have two days off, be able to sleep outside the house, have internet access etc now think it's ok to sack a woman because she's pregnant.... Spot on Izzy. Probably the same posters that go into a panic as to where to buy their Christmas Turkey, or worry about lack of chivalry in Dubai.

I took her back to the agency today morning...she tried to talk me into keeping her asking me " why are u sending me mam". I didn't want to talk to her I just said u know why...I had called the agency 2 days back and told them the issues and they had told me to provide her with her supplies and I also agreed to give her an additional allowance her rudeness and she lying on my face I don't give her food happened after that wen I asked her to cook her food yesterday...today at the agency wen they asked her why she wasn't cooking her food she changed the whole story...from I know filipina cooking only teach me your cooking to I don't know cooking then I don't have time and I don't understand when you tell me to cook my own food it became she was afraid to touch anything in my house so she couldn't cook her own food...I really had to laugh and ask so you weren't afraid to open the fridge and eat whatever you liked but you were afraid to touch the things u asked me to get for you...from yesterday afternoon bag of rice, packs of noodles, veggies are still lying on the kitchen table untouched plus the chicken and fish in the freezer which I told her to just ask me before taking so she is clear what is for her and what is for the family, all coz I asked her to cook her own food,I am not sure if she was waiting for me to cook it for her or she was trying to show I was starving her...i had taken a few pics of the things lying on table and I showed it at the agency and then she was complaining madam didn't cook chicken stew for me...leave alone cooking for her I heard the word chicken stew from her mouth at the agency... @oopsiedaisy u really think I can change this woman's habit of lying with clear instructions? I had to tell the agency please take back the queen of philipines and give me a maid who can cook her own food... I don't know, never said I thought so. All I know is that your posts still don't make sense to me, it all appears very chaotic, so my advice would be to start with clear rules and agreements with your next maid. Good luck.

Sorry wowsmarties, you are obviously having a hard time coping. I cannot believe al this nonsense about food, cooking, you objecting to her ironing etc. Get rid if the maid, you've started off on the wrong foot and are clearly beyond repair. But to be honest, your posts make no sense to me at all, I can easily see how your maids gets confused or misinterprets your instructions.

I would think it very uncomfortable if the maid has to move out of her room if guests come. For both the guests and the maid. A maid needs/deserves a place of her own. If an employer can't offer that they shouldn't hire a live-in maid.

I love this girl to bits and hope we are going to meet soon. I don't even wanna know what happened and i don't care, i'm just sooooo sooooo happy to have her as a friend again. Thanks for all your advice xxxxxxx Great news MrsAbdalla! Thank you for letting us know.

Fijne Kerstdagen??

I am facing the same challenge. Here's what I'm going to try: Quickly bake the breasts in butter to close the meat and get a brown surface. Then use a slow cooker or a Dutch oven. Ad cranberry sauce, orange juice and a pack of powdered onion soup and cook at 150c in the oven for a couple of hours.
