We went last Saturday for lunch...they said the wait would be 40 mins..but we got our table in 20 mins or so...cheddar bay buiscuits were amazing..just like back in the US! It took a long time for our food to come though...but it tasted great! But the table next to us was having a lot of trouble with their order and food...and in the end I think the manager was coming to talk with them and bringing free desserts etc to make up for all the mess up with their orders! I think though...there are mixed reviews coming out right now...some ppl are liking it some not...growing pains i presume! Will go back again though!

So I emailed Tim Hortons Customer Service head office...here is the reply I received today. (It seems that either she sent me the Dubai info..or its City Center but was suppose to open April 3rd but is delayed?) 'Thank you for taking the time to write our Head Office with your question about our location in Doha, Qatar. I am showing that we do have a location on Fujairah City Center Doha, Unit G042. It opened on April 3 2012. I hope I have been able to answer your question, please contact us. The TDL Group Corp. Guest Services Representative Toll Free: 1-888-601-1616

I can suggest perhaps Al Fardan Garden 5 and Tameer Village they are about 5-10 mins from Villagio mall. Not sure what the rents are in AFG 5 though...but Tameer Village is in the 18,000 range. But the 4 bedrooms villas are pretty big! I drive to Sherborne from Tameer Village and it takes about 25 mins...most of the traffic is nearer to the school...but if you know the inside roads its not too bad. Im guessing DC would be slightly less - just dependent on traffic. Ive heard there is a new compound in Gharaffa called Al-Jazi Gardens (similar to what they have in West Bay)....heard those are nice too... good luck!

Looking for a childrens party entertainer (activity oriented)...but not clowns, face painting etc. I contacted Teeny Tunes, Kindermusic - but they are not available and am waiting to hear back from another...basically the instructor comes in and does songs etc with kids...simple. Are there any others anyone can reccomend? I dont have time to really organize any activity myself thats why Im looking for someone to come in and keep the kids entertained for an hour ... I have looked at Chocolate Fish already...but if there are any others please do let me know!

I have recently relocated from Bahrain having lived there there for 2.5 years...and its a nice place...very small! If you will commute to Saudi...then you want to live in either Janabiyah or Hamala....they are right by the causeway. There are many nice compounds in those areas..and the rents have gone down drastically. Saar is also a nice area adjacent to Janabiya...but now Saar village (which is close by) often has riots and so Ive heard its not ideal. I think when I compare it to Doha...I find there is a lot more to do in Doha...(I have 2 kids though).. many more activities for kids etc. But there is hardly any traffic in Bahrain...everything is 15 mins away :-) there is a very nice restaurant district called Adliya that has some great dining options! Oh...and you can go to the facebook page 'Mums in Bahrain'..its a free online forum with a wealth of information. Just post there asking whatever you need to ask...its a group of very helpful active ladies! If you join that facebook page they often post fitness classes, restaurant discounts, kids stuff, concert info and much more. Hope this helps. If you need any specifics please just ask!

If you want to drop me your email here..I can email you in much more detail...you can remove it when Ive got it... Yes rents are high...but I think we get a lot of space for it...which is what we wanted. But no garden! I think you have to see it to get a feel for it.We had our own furniture which we brought with us from the US. School is Sherborne....dont have a 12 year old though :-)

4 bedrooms -semi furnished- 12 months And rents were fairly high when we signed up in the 18000-19000 range...i think they may have lowered them since...but you can ask the compound mgmt .

I just read your post and smiled...not long ago I posted the same question... My husband had taken a look at Tameer Village and liked it.I did not know anyone who lived there...but we decided to move there... So far its been a good experience...the families are all very friendly...we do many get togethers..just had a poolside party this saturday...and a bbq 2 weekends ago...so very friendly...and most everyone has kids..and ages range b/w 1 year and 12 years...so you will all see them outside playing, riding bikes etc. There is a small shop as well on site that has a lot of the essentials like bread, milk snacks. Gym is fantastic. They plan to build a library, cinema room, salon, but in all honesty I dont see it happening too soon. The downside is that it is still fairly empty (about 15-18) families so far ...though I heard another 3 families are moving in this month. I think the company 'Schlumberger' has taken something like 50 villas...so they will move their families in soon. Also...there have been some issues with the villas because they are all new and have never been lived in. But I think that is expected anywhere. The maintenance is pretty good about getting back to you...and fixing it. Though sometimes it takes them 2-3 tries to actually fix it for good. Another downside is that it is far out from the center of the city...so if you will need to make a trip there it takes time. Also...not many restaurants deliver to the compound...many restaurants deliver to Al-Waab...but they wont come out here. Hope this helps... If you have any specific questions..or if you are visiting the compound..let me know and I will try and help!!!

Zaatar w Zeit ( they have two locations) but we've ordered from the one close to Education City (AL-Rayyan)... The food tastes delicious! Im not sure about the prices..since we ordered for a gathering..but everyone chipped in...but the Saaj was amazing! Maybe not cheap eats...more like 'mid -range'..

Thanks Debk! Always good to be careful and cautious! Hence Ive always been reluctant to use a driver. My nanny will however be accompanying the children for the school run so hopefully will be more cautious...since shes generally good that way. However, I still havent been able to find anyone at a decent price..they typically quote me 80 riyals/day which is over budget for me right now.

Sorry dont have any experience with Karwa...but wanted to say I have used the driver ccdoha reccomended and he was really good! Punctual and knew the area well. And did not drive mega fast like some of them which I appreciated. You may want to try him out. I think though he may require advance notice or something...but im not sure.

I have used Qatar Home Servies(1-2 times)...pretty hard to get through though... but try texting Gina (Supervisor) at 33512349 and she usually responds by text msg. My friend has used Dallah Cleaning Service - 55241797... And another friend uses Rose Cleaning Service 44888562 Dont know how the other 2 are...since Ive only used Qatar Home Serive.

Do let us know how it goes!!! I just had hubby pick up a package yesterday from Aramex (main location)...but i dont think he will do it again...horrid traffic, parking issues etc... If I could pickup from Landmark that would be awesome! And Shop & Ship also delivererd to our home in Bahrain...it was soooo simple! and stress free!

Sorry...dont know much about furniture stores...but would like to say..did you visit the home center in Al-Asmakh mall? That one is much bigger and has a wider selection than City Center. Also, Ive heard that there is a store on Salwa Road called Apollo furniture (near Decoration R/A)...never been so dont know the price range or variety there. Also, Qatar Living usually has lots of stuff on sale if you wanted pre-owned furniture. I think the other stores 'The One', 'BoConcept' and 'ID Design' have good stuff but higher price range. Good Luck!!!!
