Yes we were shocked when the RERA results came in that we lost and the reason why, is because we never got a REPORT from Municipality employee to document the damages done by the tenant. We got the keys back so it kind of says its ALL OK! we had burn marks on the kitchen cupboard, over 20 tiles chipped all over the house etc.... and it was brand new when we gave it. SO we had lost before we showed all the evidence being videos and detailed pictures and a witness. BUT NO ONE SAID anything, you just go through the process and then they say NO REPORT = Loose. **another alarming things is that the landlord takes a damage deposit correct?......but if there is damages you must sue him at Rera for the damages amount OF course with a report from Municipality! but you can not just delete the amount and give the remaining. THINGS have changed so please be aware of these rules they have in place.

This is great info. I think I may still fly into Tunis and drive from Tunis to Djerba - even though it's quite long. Could be interesting to drive through the country. Do you guys think this...
Hi wizzy, I just wrote a whole lot but I don't know what happened to it! I do not know if it is safe GOOGLE IT> ... Tunis and down to Hamamet was totally safe for me as driving. 'Canadian Blond woman with 2 girls and a nanny'. We went everywhere and had such a wonderful time in a simple country with beautiful beaches... we did find Paul and Eric Kayser and Chilis international brands... they have Carrefour there... if you need more info on Tunis I know it fairly well. When you land go to OOreedoo and buy a 30 day wifi sim for 22 tnd I think and you plug it in your android and your good to go with google maps. You do have to hold your own on the roads because some people are not using their manners! haha... you will learn fast. I myself wouldn't go down to djerba in a car without a male. I did hear its lovely their just did get the chance yet.

There is no such thing as weight loss massage. Apart from possibly a small amount of water loss, which does not count. Your user name says it all. Please don't set up at all.
hahaha i just read it... so true. Hustler? I would love to see the Emirati sitting at the business licence counter when she explains what tantric massage is to get it included in her business activities!

hi, terrible. I always get a receipt or take a picture if its a big payment n send it to there admin. I guess its tempting for some. what a shame. I am using the maid Company (30drh per hour) and they seem to be on the ball and have philipino ladies.. maybe try another couple companies. And tell the managment that if they hassle you for the payment you will make a statement to the police and they will investigate from there. Good luck.

No promises!

I used Supreme movers (saji) and I am using them next week also. They were fine, you need to be there to monitor that expensive things get wrapped properly etc..the un packing team were to tired so maybe do the move in 2 days if you want a good service. Stay away from the moving company with the word SAFE in it , ruined my expensive furniture

Hi, this seems to be the norm aed100 per week. My maid said she can live off it as she buys bulk rice n chicken n cooks for a few days at a time. I personally do not follow that I buy whatever meats and she has her rice n noodles and vegetables she likes and she cooks and eats from that. The nanny eats with us and cooks as she wants she tells me if she wants anything special. ( I always buy Philipino treats when I am at the grocery just to make them happy). It all depends if they are live out or cooking in their own room. Live out probably shall be aed500 a month I would think. I also give her aed60 per month on metro and of course a good salary.

Hi, Yes some schools offer late pick ups and have after school activities. A nanny live out or live in would cost AED2000 onwards per month and you would have to sponsor etc. this might be a more relaxed option for you so you know the child is at home and being cared for, fed dinner and you not rushing to the school in the Dubai traffic like a mad woman trying to beat the clock. This is true btw, you never know traffic here. good luck :)

Hi ladies, I had both dd's in City, I was very comfortable it is a reputable hospital and it was smooth sailing. The hidden costs we encountered were a upgraded room, hearing test (aed500) if MOM has any conditions ie. thyroid etc. they need to test the baby to know if it has same thing. My C section bill was approx 24,++0 2 years ago. my maximum was 25k hahaha so close to the line that insurance allowed. If you ask if I would go there again yes. good luck and all the best.

I agree with Bluesky, Dubai is just another city. I find it a hard place since having kids because of the heat that is it, that's why we leave for 2 months in the summer. I do think its a good city, it is safe, there is lots to do and its how you look at it. We are not caught up in all the party life, we enjoy ourselves we treat ourselves and we are a happy family. Its up to you on what side of the coin you wanna play, homesick is a feeling that can quickly be turned into going and having fun with your kids either going to a play place, doing crafts going swimming there are loads of things to do to change the spirit. Missing the relatives well yes this is hard but when the kids are happy they will just deal with it in a positive way. Every weekend there is stuff to do in timeout, take in a new adventure, go to the free parks, go to the adventure parks stay home and make popcorn start to make rituals so the kids feel they are putting some roots down not having their bags half packed.

In the malls there is clearly a dress code, dress that covers the knees and if I recall correctly the picture has short sleeves. Shorts are fine BUT NOT SHORT SHORTS so that the b U M is showing. No sleeves are fine but I have a 3.5 year old and ALWAYS dress her in thin long sleeved shirts because there is air conditioning in all indoors. Yes even in winter! On the beach its been windy so no sleeves are bit chilly. Happy packing and bring a light sweater for everyone.

What do you mean baby sitting? On a daily basis ? The odd time you want to go out? If its a carer for your child when you go to work then I would look at sponsoring a proper carer, if you do not have a spare room for that person pay her to stay out. nurseries are expensive but depending on the one you choose they do have benefits.

Hello, We have a company plan for medical insurance, we have hired as a (Office help) staff who is 43 years and the medical insurance is AED 10,000 which is way to high as per the job and salary provided. Any ideas of companies who we can approach? I have approached some and they want the whole company policy of business. I thought employees could get single policies at a reasonable price> please let me know. thank you.

Welcome Steph, Yes you are right there are hundreds of relocating threads, London is right you must get married before you shall think of moving here so however that takes then getting all your legal documents together to present for resident visas here in Dubai, UAE. Schools are plenty but at age 5 I have heard for some unknown reason the classes are full in many top schools. Keep in mind School fees AED 40,000- 66,000 are the yearly fees roughly. Rent, Car rental or purchase, furniture, medical insurance, spending money, etc. are all things to add up and see what the sum would be. There is so many classes, sports, fun things to do here that she could be busy every day after school if you wanted her to be. Swimming, Dance, languages, music, fun, cooking classes, walks on the beach, horse riding so much to offer. Multi Cultural experience is remarkable, some like it some do Not. What fits for you will not fit the next. do some searching and have a open mind and before you start I would see of the company would move you with decent budgets in every avenue. happy days.
