Hi mommy to be, Congratulations! I have a stokke Xplory and love it BUT I have a big 4x4 and I do not take taxis or travel with it. It is big and bulky but I loved it and my husband whom is tall loved it and the baby gets to see everything higher up rather than everyones bottoms and be at peoples feet in the crowds. If you want to walk on cobble stones its terrible, like on the old jbr walk. I have the orbit system now in addition and its all a bit heavy but excellent. If I would buy again I would buy Stokke Xplory and a YOYO to travel. Best of luck.

Hi, I totally understand what your going through. I had a DD who was so unhappy she cried as soon as sun went down until bedtime. sleeping was a nightmare, cat napped then the eyes would pop open just as I was getting a cup of tea. I walked with her in the baby Bjorn carrier ( facing out) in the house to try and calm her I had the stroller in the house! I tried everything, I did put her on bf and formula so that if it was hunger that would be taken care of. She did get better after 4.5 months, she finally slept for 4 hours in 1 straight stretch and she relaxed. The pediatrician said she had colic and not much I could do but be patient. Your arms will feel like they are falling off, you will have knots in your shoulders.. try to put him on tummy on your arm, give him some toys always hold him outwards so he has things to look at. A word of advise, get a break go have a coffee or grocery store. It helps to get a breather and come back in a happy frame of mind. ** I hired emirates nursing and my dd actually enjoyed the nurse singing and dancing with her. best of luck.

Hi Maha, City hospital is crazy busy these days but the doctors in the Gyne department are very good. I can recommend Dr.Jennifer ( american) loads of experience. City was very comfortable and the nurses and mid wifes were fantastic even when i had a scare in my pregnancy they were like my angels and put me in safe hands. I safely delivered 2 lovely dd's in 2 years. Good luck to you.

Hi, a doctor letter is a must especially if your big. I needed one when I traveled just a 6 hour flight with Emirates. ( 2nd pregnancy so maybe I was a big) Also compression stockings from the pharmacy is a must my doctor said. When you get a doctor note he or she will inform you on all the things to do. I did feel very tired and my tummy was very tight may e the baby inside was feeling pressure i am not sure! But everything was fine. Keep the note safe because you need it when you travel back! Safe travel.

Hi donna, dont pack too much but make sure you have a change of clothes and diapers if you little one is still in them. Bring food, snacks, dry formula, for the little one as they usually dont like the plane food or the baby milk provided. REMEMBER to use a back pack so your hands are free... And gate check a stroller as the country we land in from flying Emirates dont have complementry stroller on arrival! I had a disaster in August with too many hand bags and no stroller with a toddler and a new baby and no strollers! Yikes! *** Oh and bring medicine and a bottle or soother for little ine to suck on when take off and landing. Best of luck enjoy the flight.

And diet etc... Then explore bigger options. I used the above mentioned and bang it worked immediately and then the second time immediately, both in Dubai. I know you get impatient but with this you have to be patient, you can also do massages i did at a spa in the center where 2 xl ( Jumeirah behind life pharmacy) is the owner is brazilian she is lovely. Hi zoey, I just had a c sec with Dr. jennifer 5 weeks ago. She is quiet but she knows her stuff and she is so experienced i would highly recommend her. I had a c sec in city before with another Dr. And I was hesitant to change but I am so happy I found Dr.Jennifer. Smooth, confident, fast, good is what I would say she is. City is a good place but I have heard good things about al Zahra also. I went to city at 7 weeks and the Dr.s had a giggle as it is early to go to a Dr. 8 weeks is the norm i have heard. Good luck

Hi sleepy, I have turned my part time maid agency into full time the last 2 months as guests and new baby arrival with a toddler. I use Dubai housekeeping, talk to Param and tell him your needs etc. i am sure he can choose the right girl with child experience/ maid from his staff to help..or you could hire emirates nursing if you want a registered nurse. I am home so i just need a helping hand and someone to clean n play with my toddler. Good luck.

Hi, have you been to Ikea lately? I have been looking into this and they have some new finishes and it seems they have stepped up the kitchen range. I would give it a go and sit with them it is affordable and does nto take 6+ months to order. If you choose a great backsplash and floor tiles it will look designerish, for a whole lot less. :) I know Ikea seems not up to par compared to the designer kitchens but i was impressed with the offering now.

Poor little one, my 20 month old had a virus this week with 39 temperature, volteran supposatory ( for kids) brings it down right away or Motrin from USA.( always in the medicine cabinet) Of course all the cold cloth, take the feet out of any socks or pjamas, cool room etc. and drink water has always worked for me. There is a nasty virus going around I got it and am suffering big time...throat, ears, cough. The emergency rooms and clinics have children and adults both. I have been to 3 different clinics/ emergency in the last 5 days! Get well

Hi poomba, No there is a limited amount of bassinets you must call emirates now and book one. And you sit in the front rows. Yes the kettle is the thing that worries me on the plane, you can watch them to make sure they are using bottled water...but kettle is iffy! If your flying emirates which we do...we get water from the lounge and then your checked straight in from there. I say take both powder and ready made. If your a 1st time mom to travel make sure you give a bottle for take off and landing so they are not bothered with the force. Also take a baby carrier it will save your arms!

Hi, I have seen individual premixed formula at choithrams maybe call them and ask so your not driving all over Dubai. Tips on travelling, wet wipes big bag! Light Blanket for the top of the bassinet as the draft is bad when baby laying in it! We make a tent ontop of the baby. Dry formula is lighter to travel with but you never know how clean there water is. Yes change of clothes for you, vomit is very common on flights i noticed. Bring enough diapers, sleepers so baby is comfy and covered. Oh and a change table mat for when you change diaper. Happy flight. ..I will be doing this in august.

Hi ZJ, I am prone to cold sores as I have auto immune disease, I use zovirax ( at any pharmacy) as soon as I feel a little sorness itch ( start of the demon) i have never heard of such rubbish that your friend is talkig about. Yes its a form of herpes but in no way is it a std. As far as insurance goes i am not sure this is a huge pre exisiting condition. I have never even thought about claiming it on my insurance as pre exisiting as it is so small of a case. Cold sores come from winter, germs, viruses etc. it is very common. I have lived here for 15 years and never had a problem but I do know how to catch a cold sore before it erupts. Your friend makes UAE sound crazy sorry to say!

Hi GE, I have been using this company and the same girl for 5 months now, I trust her and leave a key. Ask the manager in your situation, maybe he will keep the a key with driver / supervisor, its up to you and what your comfortable with. Ask him if he is insured etc. Ask questions for your comfort.

Hi confusion, I have 2 flattish pillows both with her barbie friends on the pillow case! So its exciting for her to get in every time! My dd wears pjamas and uses a cotton receiving blanket to cover thats it, no quilt or blanket to smuther her and she is away from the ac vents so its perfect. Dd has been out of the sleeping bag for about 6 months now as she would get too hot with her feet restricted in the bag so pajamas it is. Hope that helps.

Hi Mols, We just moved our dd to a big girl bed last month and it is sooooo nice! She is 19 months and slept with us until then as she needed a King bed to roam around in all night! I also have #2 arriving in 5 weeks...we went to ikea and she found a bed and loved it...it was a 160x 200 and she didnt want to get off it so we bought it and then we bought the Tomy sides from babyshop...tada we are free! And she goes to it every night of course with her animals and books. ( btw she was not interested to get in the little kid beds at ikea at all) Best of luck.

Hi Natalie, We tried for a few months and I thought it would be so easy, I bought the Clearblue digital fertility monitor from the USA and boom 1st month I got pregnant. I thought I knew all the days of my ovulating to try but I guess my body needed to be percise as the machine tells you the window you have to try and conceive. Of course I took vitamins from GNC and my husband took the men vitamins also. All in all the recipe produced our dd. I did go to Fakih fertitlity and asked them to test my eggs and blood and what not and they did and they told me everything was on target to get pregnant so that was reasurring to start the fun! Best wishes and all the baby dust your way.

Hi we bought this little box from Verizon ( stores are normally in strip malls) it was $50.00 I think and you charge minutes on it to get internet anywhere. Sim cards are for sale in Target, Walmart, probably any big grocery store...its America everything is readily available. We used google map on the phone using the Verizon device and it took us literally everywhere it was great. If you have time Universal studios is good. But the five or six flags in Cali are fantastic fun especially if your kids like rides. Just google and it will show you a map of where they are so you can catch one as you drive down. Ghiradhelli square in San Fran is a lovely treat too, its always a must on my trips! I am jealous now.

Hi for the rental cars, google car rental and remember they don't quote you with insurance...a $350.00 car rental turned into 700 with insurance. Use google for directions. We bought a Verizon internet device that you have to refill for the internet as we wanted to google when we were in the car, yes get a sim for calls or use skype. Also stop in Malibu if your kids like surfing, paradise beach cove restaurant is just off the highway...its famous and you may even see a movie star there. Santa Barbara wharf is on your way to LA too. Santa Monica is a quick stop as well....the list goes on!

With all different nationalities here in Dubai I have seen lots of different alarming things in grocery stores! I saw a woman 2 weeks ago eating 4 ( oranges, strawberries, grapes, cucumber) different fruits and I looked at her trying them all as I was so surprised and she didn't even flinch. I think its OK in some nationalities to try before you BUY! Funny enough she arrived at the cashier same time as me and I glanced to see what she bought eventually and it was only the oranges! Shame she is teaching her little one her bad habits! I think the staff Must take action in these situations, as it is stealing.

Hello ladies, quick update! I went t bring my sample of water and thought it was all OK as i spoke to a gentleman last week who told me he will test the water for any bad bacterias for aed150 and it takes 10 days. I thought it was a easy task and straight forward, bottom line i dont think they have ever tested water....the secretary made 4 inter office calls to see what to do and then of course they started to rack the bill up just to test my villa water to make sure if it has bad bacterias or not! I walked out as they seemed incompetant and i dont like when you get to a office that they start adding money and making up different amounts as they total. So i dont recommend them and i am looking for a competant lab to just test my water to see if it is safe. Any recommendations would be welcome.
