The requirements for licensing within the healthcare sector have got a lot tighter over the last few years. If your job is at Healthcare City they have their own licensing requirements. If it is elsewhere in Dubai you will most likely need a DOHMS license. Their office is also in Healthcare City, in Al Razi building, block B. If you visit the office they will tell you the requirements, alternatively search on-line. It's all on their website. I know for therapists (OT's, physios, speech therapists etc) you need to have 2 years documented work experience to be able to apply for the license.

jackiecr - names have to be submitted to the Embassy beforehand for security purposes and then you have to take photo ID with you. You might be too late to change names now.

The French bakers in Le Marche do some lovely things. Their scones are very 'homemade' and everyone raves about them when I serve them.

Yes, there are different types of Saheels. I think the one next door to us is a type 9. It has a family area adjacent to the kitchen, then a larger lounge area and a dining area. It has a master with ensuite and the 2 other bedroom share a bathroom. It has quite a large upstairs landing. Definitely big enough for another sofa and TV or kids toys. We use our upstairs area as a study.

Our next door neighbours in Saheel have recently moved out. It's a 3 bedroom plus maids and has since been freshly painted. It is in street 2 and is on with several agents, I know Househunters is one of them. It has a nice large paved area to the side of the house, great for outside dining and kids ride-ons. The rest of the garden is just grass. No idea how much they are asking for rent but it could be worth a look. ( plus you'd have lovely neighbours with teenagers keen to do some babysitting!)

The venue seemed to work well. We were in the Maroon pit which was great. I wouldn't have wanted to be right at the back. Easy access in and out.. There was a problem getting out of the multi-storey car park. It took us 45 mins to get out. Parking for the evening cost us 55 dhs.

Hi Just spotted your post. We visited the Turtle reserve at Xmas time. There is no longer a campsite there. We arrived in the dark expecting the campsite as we had stayed there a couple of times before some years back. They just told us we could put our tents up at the end of the carpark so that's what we did. It was fine.we used the bathrooms inside the visitor centre. I would urge you to contact them and book a place on the evening tour though. They are much stricter with numbers now and can booked up with tour groups. HTH

The main information desk in MOE sells stamps. It will weigh letters etc to determine correct postage. I believe there's a postbox close by.

I have an OPT flip cover which I have had for over a year and am really happy with. I got it from one of the stalls opposite C4. It is sort of snake skin looking leather. It has 4 rubber corners which hold the phone in well. The flip cover is very easy to open.

You can make guacamole with them. You just have to wait for them to ripen first. You'll know when they feel slightly soft. They are good and a lot cheaper than the other ones.

I agree the Oman dive centre is lovely but it has got very pricey. Their website say it is High season until 30 April and a double occupancy hut is 82 O.R. (approximate 820 dhs) for half board.

I actually rang the RTA help desk to ask what I needed to do and this is what they told me. No mention that a police report was needed. Gotta be worth a try first to save you the hassle of getting typing done and waiting for the police report.

I think white beach in Oman would be lovely for a camping trip. If you leave early you could be in Muscat for lunch and then head down the coast on the fabulous new road towards Sur. Loads of places to camp down there. ETA : if it was too hot you could head up high into the hills from the coast and it's a lot cooler up there. <em>edited by plum2 on 16/04/2011</em>

I just did this about 6 weeks ago as I lost my wallet which contained my driving licence. I did not get a police report. I just took a passport copy and a photo (although that wasn't actually necessary) to the RTA office upstairs in the union coop at Safa park and got a new one v easily.

And the gardener may be OK with the chemicals but would he know what to do if there were problems with the pump etc. At least with a pool maintenance company they usually have someone to come and look at any other pool related problems.

Why couldn't they pack it in their suitcases? Well wrapped bottles in the middle of a case should be fine. I just came back from Spain with a bottle of wine, olive oil and balsamic in my case and all were fine. Not sure why you say you can only bring in alcohol bought at Dubai Duty free? You can bring in other alcohol too. <em>edited by plum2 on 13/04/2011</em>

They can bring in Ouzo as part of their duty free alcohol allowance. They sell alcohol which people can buy on arrival. Not sure of the allowance but it's about 4 bottles each. All the other goods you mention can be brought in. <em>edited by plum2 on 13/04/2011</em>

We are in AR and have used 'those pool guys' for the last year for our pool maintenance. They come twice a week and the pool always looks great. I think we pay 450dhs a month. HTH

House hunters and Better Homes both have sales/rental places within the AR shopping Centre. You should be able to look at their websites. Your son will be able to cycle to school from anywhere in the Ranches really. The closest communities would be Saheel, Savannah, Alma and Avenida I think. You would find 5 beds in Saheel and Savannah.

Hi. I'm in Saheel in AR. Good for access onto umm Suqeim Rd (towards Mall of the Emirates) and Emirates Rd in both directions. I have 2 teenagers at Dubai College. They use the school bus. Weekends: There is a bus service to MOE but we tend to drive them around a fair bit to activities, parties etc. Have you got a school place sorted?
