I would recommend Cape Fertility Clinic in Cape Town. Wonderful doctors and caring nurses. And high success rates too.

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I recommend the Imupro 300 allergy/food intolerance test at the Dubai herbal and treatment centre. It is not cheap, over 2,000 aed but well worth it and you get a detailed report with suggested menus/recipes based on your results.

Quick question ladies. I have a small company and employ several people who are entitled to a flight to the Philippines once a year. I am planning to give an allowance to cover for the flight so they can use the money as they wish. What in your opinion is a fair allowance ? TIA

Hello, We bought a bed in Pottery barn Kids for our 2 year old son but didn't buy the mattress as they couldn't deliver it for another month. Where can I find a mattress with American size dimensions in Dubai? I have tried Intercoil, Indigo Living and Home Center but either they didn't have the exact dimensions or the quality of the mattress was not great . Anywhere else?

Hello ladies, I am breastfeeding my 4-month old baby, I started to give him top up formula (about 180 ml in total every day when I'm at work) and he hasn't had any stools for the last 3 days. What can I do to to help him? He has also developed a rash on his cheeks, neck and upper chest in the last few days. It is very red - not itchy. Could this be an intolerance to lactose? I give Aptamil Comfort stage 1. Planning to see the paediatrician later today but just thought I would ask for advice from you ladies. TIA

Just bumping this thread - are there any coeliac support group meetings in Dubai? Both son and husband were diagnosed coeliac in the last 3 months. I would like to connect with other people going through the same thing, particularly mums of coeliac children.

To those of you who have travelled with your maid, can you please let me know how much you have to pay by law in the UK / US. I understand that I need to make a contract of employment stating our maid's salary whilst in the US / UK as part of the visa process. And we are prepared to pay more than what we pay her here. I just have no idea how much we are expected to pay. Any advice is greatly appreciated. TIA

Another question - do you give your LO supplements (iron, multivitamins)? If so, do you know which ones are GF? My paediatrician was clueless when I asked her , she suggested I ask the pharmacist. But I am not very confident they will know....

My nearly 2-year old son was diagnosed with Celiac disease this week. It came as a shock and I would really like to connect with other mums whose kids have this condition. How did you get organised for school meals? eating out? baking for the whole family, etc...We are planning to all go gluten free at home but I know there will be challenges at school / birthday party events...Any advice / tips are welcome.

Same here, I'm pregnant and suffer from swollen feet and ankles. I recommend Kenkoh sandals / flip flops. They help to reduce swelling in feet and they are very supportive so I don't suffer from back pain either. HTH

Hi everyone I just wanted to share that the International Centre for Culinary Arts – ICCA http://www.iccadubai.ae/ offer cooking classes throughout the year. You can enrol your maid for a set of 3 / 6 or 9 classes. You choose the type of cuisine you would like her to learn and in each class they teach her 3 to 4 recipes. It all looks very appetising and well organised. I also spoke to Louis and his cooking training sounds really good too. But he does the class at your home so this is not convenient for us at the moment because I want my maid to be doing the course whilst we are away on holiday and not want anyone to come to the house in our absence. I may try this course later in the year. Thanks everyone for the tips.

Derien, thanks so much for this. It's really really helpful. Another question if you don't mind. Our maid is sponsored by my husband but I am processing her visa paperwork. Should the employer on the CERFA form be my husband or can I do it under my name? Thanks again for your help.

Yes we always pay her when we go on holiday as this is not her decision to be off work. She is brilliant though and we aways find the place spotless when we come back.

Derien, would you mind sharing with me how you filled in your CERFA form? ie. did you say that her salary was 1365 Euros or did you split it between salary and "advantages en nature"? Also, will we need to pay URSSAF for her? Do you know how much? Thanks so much!

Thank you all for the tips. I hope I'm not too late...We plan to travel early July. I was convinced the UK was a Schengen state and had assumed we only needed one visa... I will speak to the different embassies this week. We are not particularly worried about the maid running away.Even if she does, we are prepared to take the risk.
