After living in Dubai for over 12yrs, myself and my whole family have been seeing Dr Chris Johansson since we arrived, he is amazing, very conservative and gentle. I would not see anyone else. he is located at My Dental Clinic in Umm Suquiem. Hope you try him.

Hi I hear good things about Chris Johanssen (sp) and Dr Neil at Dentist direct. Would you agree? But I have no recommendations for an Orthodontist. Any suggestions? Are the orthodontists in either of these places any good. Any other recommendations welcome. Thanks :) My son see Dr Lina Papika at My Dental Clinic, where Dr Chris works. My whole family see Chris for all of our general things. He is very good and a nice guy

I have just moved there and I have only seen the Blossom Nursery which seems to be very popular. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone! I'm in the market for a new dentist so I called around all the recommendations I found in the entire Dubai forum and as of JUL 2017 these are the prices for a general check up (minus x-rays) and a clean in case anyone's interested... Dr. Michael's Check up 390 Clean 600 Joy Dental Check up 250 Clean 550+ Hey! Dental Check up 160 Clean 400-700 Dentist Direct Check up 300 Clean 465 Dental Studio Check up 350 Clean 550 My Dental Clinic Check up 190 Clean 450 I can honestly say My Dental Clinic is one of the nice clinics I have visited in general. I see Dr Chris there, who is amazing and very good with nervous patients. My husband has seen Dr Chris and Dr Eva, he likes them both. The reception staff are very helpful, will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable,.

Hallo I am new to Dubai. I am married 3years and have been trying to get kids for one year now. I have gone through a number of gynacologists in Dubai only to get to the end when they told me there is no other way to get children other than IVF- ICSI (male factor infertility) My gyna recommended Conceive Clinic JLT. I would appreciate any advice on which doctor to go for and how much it costs as well as the procedure. I am also open to any other IVF clinics that you can suggest. Any success stories through IVF would be very comforting ? Also if there is a support group I would love to join to go through this in a foreign country alone is pretty lonely. We used Conceive for IVF last year, it cost around 18,000dhs but that included freezing some of my eggs. Dr Pankaj is lovely, however extremely busy and tries to fit everyone in so be prepared to wait when you have appointments. The staff are very nice and go out of their way to help. I went to Fakih clinic before and did feel comfortable there or connect with the doctor but they seemed very professional and organised, plus they charge more than Conceive. Sadly, the IVF failed for us but we have my eggs frozen so will give it another go next month. My advise to you would be, try not to get too excited about it or get your hopes up, it really messes with your head, I got so convinced it would work and the 2wk wait from when they do the transfer is the worst....its all you can think about. Good Luck x

Hi, Has anyone seen any yellow princess dresses around? Need it by tomorrow evening, please. My daughter asked to be princess Amber from Sofia the First for world book day which was a deviation from the "I want to be a pink princess" initially so I am completely stumped, but don't want to crush her spirit. Any help would be appreciated - even to borrow or buy a second-hand dress. Looking for size 3-4. TIA Carrefour MOE normally have looks of little girls princess dresses.

We hired a housemaid that came with great recommendations from her previous family, she was a qualified school teacher for several decades and she seemed great. She owed some money to the agency that had handled her visa changes and accommodation while she was looking for a new sponsor (previous sponsor relocated), so we paid it for her (4500dhs).on the agreement that she would get a little lower salary. We paid her 2500aed per month, all food and toiletries are paid by us (whatever she wanted), we paid for her work clothes (I took her shopping, normal clothes not uniform), a small allowance for food and to top up her nol card, she got to pick what furniture she wanted for her room (the maids room is a separate building with a big room and private shower/toilet). The agreement was that every 3 month we would have a review and then she would get a bonus with the amount depending on how her work was. Her working hours are from 7-10:30 and then again from 15:30-19, 1 day off as agreed (but most weeks 1.5 day and every 2-3 weeks 2 days off), off on some public holidays and off on most of the Christian holidays. She is to clean in the morning and then to do ironing/tidying in the afternoon while helping me out a bit with the boys while I am cooking When she first started she was amazing, there was no more rush in the morning and I didn't feel like I had to collapse in the evening when the boys went to sleep (little in preschool til 12 and 'big' one in kindergarten til 14:30, I am working from home when they are in school). After 1.5-2 weeks we had the first issue with her letting my oldest climb on the outside of the stairs (about 2.5 meter to the floor), when I saw it I asked her to get him back over the rail immediately (she didn't so I ran up to grab him), I asked her what the f. she was thinking letting him to that and she replied that if she said no he would be angry, I told her I would rather have him angry/upset than have a broken leg/back/neck. We had an agreement that she was allowed to have visitors as long as she let me know in advance and that I wanted to meet them first, she understood me perfectly and agreed we should be careful since we had young children. After 2 weeks with us she had her birthday, I gave her the morning off but asked that she came back to work at 4, at 4:15 all of the sudden a stranger walks in through my house, and she tells me 'oh madam this is my friend she is here for my party'. I called our maid over and told her that we had an agreement with no people in my house unless i knew, and that she was supposed to be working now, and she was all 'oh, sorry sorry mam' and then she went in the kitchen with the friend to gossip (and not work). While having these issues she also became less helpful and less sweet with the older one, she would pay loads of attention to the little one while ignoring the oldest (to the point of only cooking breakfast for the little one), then I caught her yelling/screaming at the oldest (told her off immediately and made her apologize to him), it wasn't even the big one doing anything but the little one kicking him and the oldest then pushing him away to defend himself (they are close in age and are fighting a lot these days). It got a little better and she improved her patience with the oldest but was still not great with him, we thought with some work it would get better, but then one morning i took my youngest to the nursery while leaving the big one in the bed as he was sleeping with a fever, my husband was at home but in the garden taking some phonecalls and she was listening for the oldest. When I came home I found my oldest sobbing loudly at the top of the stairs, face all red and covered in tears and snot. I carried him down and then went to the kitchen were she was doing dishes, I asked her why she didn't go take him and she said that she did but that he didn't want her so she left again, upon asked why she didn't sit down near him, or went to get my husband in the garden or even call me on the phone she had no reply. After that I told her that our working relationship was finished, that she could live with us till she found a new job but that she better find it fast. After a week she told me that she didn't want to find a new job but that she wanted to go back home and her family member had booked her a ticket for march 12 (this happened about 20 days ago), so we sort of felt we had to let her stay with us for that time. Just now we took a new lady on trial, I offered to give the new lady a lift to the metro and asked the old maid to watch the boys for the 10 minutes it took. When i backed out and was closing the gate there came running my little one, I stopped the gate and was watching him from the car to see if she would come for him, when she didn't, I took him with me in the car. She didn't call or text me till we were almost back at the house and what she wrote was 'sorry madam, he wants to go with you, told me don't follow me'. When I came inside the house I asked her how she could let him go out to the street alone, that if i hadn't seen him he could have ended up on the street with the gate closed behind him, then she grabbed him and started yelling at him 'why did you do that, i told you not to, now you make your mummy mad at me' etc etc and then she smacked him on the leg. Would i be unreasonable to send her out tonight? And possibly put a ban on her, normally I dont agree with bans but I am so furious now, she put their safety in jeopardy several times and then she actually used violence against my little 3 year old. Sorry its so long, but wanted to give a proper history and to explain that she was well treated OMG! I would be sending her home asap....and yes put a ban on her. She is lucky you didnt call the police for hitting your child...many others would of. You can not have her in your home, goodness knows what she is up to when you not around or your back is turned. I would of lost it...along time ago.

Hello ladies, I am trying to conceive the 2nd time and my fibroid size and position is preventing the conception. Doctors are suggesting removal of the fibroid by performing a laproscopy surgery. I wish to get operated in Dubai, however, I am very nervous as I am not confident with which doctor I should undertake the surgery. Has any of you done this procedure in the past? If so, can you please recommend a good surgeon? I have got few names thus far. Dr Rajesh Devassy Dr Ajit Shyam Kanbur DR Christian Jozsa Dr Nikita Trehan Can anyone please give me any reviews for these doctors? I will highly appreciate it. Please be extremely careful about who does your procedure, I had fibroids removed by a doctor here and she caused me severe scar tissue, called ashermans, its so bad that I cant conceive as my uterus is completely closed up. I have had 3 surgeries to open it up again but it keeps closing because of the scar tissue. surgeon here are butchers and dont know about this, and neither did I, the doctor who did my surgery saw me for follow ups for 2 yrs after and told me everything looked good, it was only when I saw Christian jozsa, he discovered my issue, so i would say he is good and he was one of the doctors that tried to open up my uterus. they say 25% of woman that have fibroids removed will end up with ashermans. i dont mean to scar you or put you off but i want woman to know about this as no one told me this could be a side effect from the surgery and this ashermans is still so rare people dont mention it. good luck to you x

Yes you can get them wet and wear eye liner and eye shadow. Just make sure you do not use an oil based eye makeup remover or they won't last long. You will to go every couple of weeks to top them up so it can be quite expensive to keep them maintained. Thank you

That's good news. Just thought I'd mention it ... not all people are aware that permission is required. Sorry I can't be any help. Have you thought of driving around the Ranches and asking at any homes which you can see have had alterations/additions? When we lived there we had large canopies put up in the back garden and several people knocked at the door asking for the company's details which we were happy to pass on. Surely, Emaar can recommend someone to do the work

Hi Ladies Was watching BBC World news this morning & this story came on about an Afghan man who paid illegal smugglers to get him & his family out of Afghanistan. However along the way the boat got into some trouble and a lot of people died. Including his entire family - young children and his wife. In order to get his families bodies back to Afghan to bury them, they were flown back however the Afghan govt. would not help cover costs and now he is bankrupt and in over USD 8000 debt. This story really brought tears to my eyes... His wife and sons were buried in Afghanistan however it took a long time to find his daughter and she is now buried in Turkey :( does anyone know how to go about setting up a funding site to help this man? I have contacted the BBC as i'm sure they would know his details but not sure if there is another way to do this?? I think the BBC will take a very long time to respond as i have to go via the "contact us" section as its the only way i could find to email them his name is mentioned on the top of the video The video link is below from the news story: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-36431901 awful...just when he thought his life was bad, it gets even worse. wish some country would at least take him as a refugee now

Hi all! I'm moving with my two children in two weeks from the UK to dubai! Our new home is in sports city - obviously used to having a GP five minutes away here in England ! Can you lovely ladies please recommend me a good GP/ Peadiatrican local to me ? Same for a dentist of possible ! I would prefer a British doctor but not essential - just a good Pead who is friendly and doesn't just prescribe antibiotics for anything !! Thanks ladies ! I cant recommend my dentist enough, he is at dr michaels, dr chris johansson. he is swedish and amazing. my whole family see him, my kids are very nervous and i have always problems with my teeth. been living here for some time and i know who and not to see. the best gp for us it dr carol smart at healthbay, we see her mostly and i have seen her husband once, graham smart. both v good and british. I agree, Dr. Carol Smylie (not smart) and Dr. Graham are both very good. I used to see Carol Smylie all the time many years ago when she still worked at Dubai London Clinic. She was my favourite doctor however she's now based in Mirdif branch of Healthbay and way too far for me to go now OP was looking for something around sports city area which is miles from Mirdif unfortunately but if willing to travel, i would say definitely Carol Smylie at Healthbay yes, sorry smylie.... i had a friend carol smart...she always reminds me of her...my brain...old age!!

Hi, Has anyone delivered with Dr. Ivana Cmiljic in Medcare? I have just had my first visit today (5 weeks pregnant) and I am a bit disappointed. She was very nice, but didn't explain anything and the only answer to my questions was to eat and drink healthy. She hasn't ordered any test either. I was expecting her showing a bit more of an "interest", especially it is my first pregnancy. Maybe I am expecting too much? How were your first visits? Which doctors would you recommend in Medcar, IMH, Belhoul? I saw her previously and found exactly the same. I would highly recommend Dr Natalia at Cooper clinic, I see her now. Or, Dr Britt at City hospital. If you dont get a good feeling about someone dont stick with them especially if its regarding pregnancy. You want this to be a perfect as it can be. and you will be seeing this gynie a lot too.
