Hi All! I know there have been threads on brunches but I am not finding the right answer  We usually go to Al Muna for brunch when guests are here as we love the scenery and food, however we have guests coming next weekend and they are fully booked. Can anyone recommend a good food/armosphere/drink for adult brunch and that has that 'wow factor' ?? Thank you all in advance  I would highly recommend Dek on 8 at media one, its outside by the pool you can reserve tables or beds or you can sit in the garden area or inside. Food was lovely and it was fun. 395dhs for food and booze

Is anyone up to date with any new Thursday night brunches, preferably down Marina/Palm end of town. Not interested in Rotana or old style buffet nights. It can be al a carte as well but preferably a package that includes alcohol. Yatch club in marina, great only 350dhs

Hi Ladies! Anyone here suffers from TMJ disorder? If yes, which doctor have you seen in Dubai, or who do you recommend? It is pretty hard to find anyone who understands this disorder or has any education about it. Please help! Thank you! :) Yes, I did for many years and you need to see an excellent dentist. I had ground down my back teeth so bad they were like flat so did not grip together. My dentist build up my back teeth and to how they used to be and made me a very good night guard. I did not want to use it at first as I had so many in the past that were rubbish but he made a different one that works. He is the first person to actually fix my problem,it was all due to my poor bite. I havent had jaw ache in a year now. if you want his details, his name is dr chris johansson, he is at dr michaels at the umn sqeuin branch - 04 394 9433.

thank you for ur reply .I was really waiting g for the reply ...feeling so lonely in abu dhabi ....I am in abudhabi n TTC for last 3 years now dr are telling to go for ivf any suggestions for ivf in abu dhabi. .how much is ivf in bourne hall and fakih I can tell you Fakih is 38000dhs that is one go and includes the genetic testing, very very expensive....and only a 40% success rate IVF at Bourne hall was 32000. Bourne Hall was the 1st successful clinic in the UK for IVF. The owner of the clinic has won a noble prize in medicine. We tried Faikh when we first started the process here and we felt that they were all about the money. Where Bourne Hall made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in!! I wouldn't go anywhere else! Genetic testing is included in the price and it also covers you for 3 months after you have a positive test result!! Which doctor have you seen?

Strictly speaking same gender massage is the law and hence this is the practice observed by almost all the 4 and 5 star hotels. You can either go to the likes of Dreamworks or the lower quality hotels for a lady to massage your husband. If you having a couples massage, I would not want a man in the room while I am being massaged. So many of the 5 star allow female therapist for the couple massages, while the wife is present. Many men, feel more comfort having a relaxing massage by woman and it not in a dirty way, its just feel more natural

Hi ladies, just passing by to give my experience. I went to a clinic opposite burj al arab and wild wadi called oris center and met with Dr Munther Alherani ! he is very nice and super professional the reason why I am sharing this comment is because he gave me a very interesting deal while other dentists I had seen before where very high for the same services... I just finished my veneers and I was so worried it would not look naturally especially at the price I got them but thank God everyone falls in love with my smile and I feel so confident know and I really owe it this doctor. If you need a dentist don't hesitate to pay him a visit, so far he is to me the best ... check out his insta @drmuntheralherani good luck to all of you :) xx :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: Oh dear Hmmm.....yes, oh dear indeed

Do many of you recommend eye lash extensions? Do you need to wear mascara with it? Or, can you have so much volume that you dont need mascara? I love thick, long eye lash but I am stick of wearing mascara as its always smudges, even the expensive waterproof ones that say they dont smudge do. I am constantly having to wipe it away which I am sure is going to give me big bags under my eyes, Can you get extensions wet? Thanks

http://7days.ae/its-august-and-weve-already-used-the-earths-resources-for-this-year/68420 Getting rid of Ski Dubai would be a great start...... At least Ski Dubai contribute to something positive, people can keep fit there during the summer. Recycling and green energy here is hardly existing. Put pressure on people to use public transport and widen their transport network. People should live closer to work and schools. yeah right...keeping fit, that's hardly what it is used for. It is proven that ice rink and these sort of places destroy the planet. Agreed, travel is a massive problem too...i feel guilty driving everyday. but, here the public transport system is terrible. you can recycle i do every week, i take my glass, plastic, tin to the recycle bins. http://www.footprintnetwork.org/…/ind…/GFN/page/calculators/

Dr Lina there is excellent, she has worked in Sweden and London, much better than others here. The cost may be a bit more but when you spread it out over the months it worth it.

We were successful first time at Fakih. I know someone else who had a few unsuccessful rounds at Conceive then was successful with twins at Fakih. However it probably depends on your personal circumstances. For us the issue was not major and it was with DH which I think is easier to deal with. The only thing I didn't like about Fakih (aside from the obvious pushy sales tactics and the factory like atmosphere) was that they really wanted to transfer three embryos - most EU countries won't do this due to the risk of multiples, they also do 3 day transfers and cannot freeze leftover embryos. We are having a round for no.2 in London at the moment - they plan on a blastocyst transfer and will only transfer 1-2. My cousin had two failed cycles in Leeds and was told she had no chance of success. Then she went to a really good clinic in Greece (also quite cheap I think) and had a successful cycle there first time. Thank you, Ruth. This is really helpful, sound like Fakih has more success than others. Maybe worth it, thank you. Do you know the name of the clinic in Greece?

Fair point, Oopsiedaisy, but we're now being hit from all sides - high rents, high school fees, increasing petrol prices (will soon be on par with Europe if the price of oil goes up), high DEWA bills, high Internet bills, high medical costs and insurance, expensive groceries, etc. For most people, this is not sustainable. To compound the problem, we have no options - no public schools for expats, limited public transport, no real choice when it comes to energy and telecoms providers, limited access to public hospitals, limited range of local products/groceries, etc. I know we don't pay income tax so we aren't entitled to most of the above, but TBH the cost of living has gone up so much that we may as well pay tax and get some of the above in return. People are feeling the pressure from all sides and salaries are simply not keeping up with expenses. Personally, I don't subscribe to the 'people in Dubai live beyond their means/overspend on luxury items' theory. My lifestyle and spending habits haven't changed in many years, but the cost of doing and buying the same things has doubled during that time, while my salary has stayed the same. I agree, I feel there is going to be another recession v soon....people already are starting to panic and when people panic people stop spending....very worrying...

Does anyone have any advice for me regarding finding a job in the UAE. My husband and I just came here 2 months ago from the Netherlands because of his work. I would also like to find a job in Dubai because i also have allot to offer :). At the moment I am of course sponsered on his visa in Dubai. But If i find a job it would have to go through the legal ways. The last job I had was in the cityhall. I was working as a social worker. Before that I was doing my studies to become a occupational therapist. During the study we learned how to work with children who have autism, ADHD buth also with elderly people with disabilities. During the study I learned to think in opportunities instead of in problems. I can get along easily with children and people from all kinds of ages. Unfortunally i didn't finish my study, but got my study points until the 3th year. After that i started to work in the city hall as a social worker. I know I can't work as an Occupational therapist but I was thinking of working as an assistant at a nursery, or in a hospital or receptionist or even as a callcenter agent would be o.k for me. I do have my diploma as social legal advisor worker from the Netherlands. Do you have any advice for me? Or maybe even a job or any connections :). Thank you very much! There a few of these clinics in healthcare city, maybe pop in and ask.

Thank you Nomad! I will definitely check with the dentist. It interesting how everything in our body is connected.. Do you grind you teeth? If you do and you suffer from jaw tension it could be causing this. I would definitely get this checked as I have a friend who could sleep because of the tmj problems. maybe it associated. i sent her to see my dentist who is excellent with this. dr chris johansson at dr michaels on al wasl road. have you maybe thought of trying acupuncture? can work wonders for stress and anxiety.

Hello Ladies, Is there anyone who tried these groupon vouchers for botox? I only need few for my forehead and between my eyebrows. I am on my mid 20's just the main reason to stop doing my angry face mimics. I don't really prefer to pay 1800-2000 dhs only for few injections so looking for a cheaper option... They have vouchers for 599 for two areas... any feedback would be appreciated about the clinic. Thank you! Merve Please be careful, I would only see Dr Reza as sarahlou suggested or dr viel in healthcare city....i had someone do it for me years ago and had a drooping eye lids, it took months to go away. not something you want before your big day....only got by someone highly recommended, experienced and someone that has been here for a long time.

Hi Ladies, Can someone tell me if my company has the right to decrease my salary if my OB requires me to take an extra day off? She advised me to work 4 days a week only since I am having a delicate pregnancy and practically speaking I cannot quit working. I cannot find anything in Labour Law. No, they cant. Ask you doctor to write a letter stating this. Or if she can give you like sick leave form saying you need rest. If you don't take rest properly then you will only be signed off work for even longer, meaning they will have to pay even more sick leave.

I have been living in Dubai for over 6yrs now and had to see lots of doctor/dentist/surgeons here for many different things. I just want to say to everyone, please, please make sure you do your research on the doctors you see here, try see someone who has been in Dubai for a long time, not the ones who have just arrived or been here for a short time, as many doctors come here for a short time only and after my experiences the ones that come and go or work in many countries are not good enough so never stay anywhere. Myself and people I know have had things done with doctors who then disappear and when you have problems regarding your treatment they not here. You should always try stick with the same doctor or dentist, as doctors do work differently and I think now it’s so important you don't change doctors, especially dentists.my dentist now has me on the right track but from seeing too many different dentists in the past, I had to have so many things redone and I had somethings done that weren't necessary. Young dentists are too eager to jump in your mouth with out thinking. I also had a gynie procedure done many years ago that was not done properly and as a result I am now having problems having another baby and at the time, I just went with this person without really thinking or getting a second opinion. So now, I have to have more procedures to fix this and possibly IVF. It’s very important that you find a doctor who has been here for a long time and who is highly recommended, experienced and not young either. People dont know all these things about DUbai especially when you first move here or you haven't lived in other countries too.

Exactly Preethihappy, no one wants a tragedy! Bottom line is if people take their children to the water park they must be constantly under their supervision, the Lifeguards are not there to babysit. Can you imagine the uproar if they had gone in to help these children and someone else had drowned while they were doing so. I feel for these Lifeguards, damned if they do and damned if they don't. Yeah, I dont really want to see anyone fired either. I was just shocked that they were standing there watching too. I will leave it, wished I had found the parents and said something.

I did think about telling the parent off, but they go out and ran off...was kind of an after thought. I dont know if i am just an over protective parent but I make sure my kids stayed with me when they were that young.

I bought one from the LG shop It helps with stray hairs and it does collect some dust. It's not very good around the corners. Dust tends to collect there. I saw clips of dogs riding on it but my dogs just bark at it. It's good for the very busy days when there's no time to clean properly but it isn't a replacement for proper cleaning. Thanks, maybe not worth it. if I need to just get the vaccum out anyway.

Hi all We moved to a villa with a garden and I need some help re: what to do for dogs potty area, previously in old place they had a specific tiled area to go which they used without fail, very easy to clean down and no smells straights to the drainage etc. I don't know what to do now I have allocated an area but what do you do to keep the wee wee smell away / dogify the area? I don't want them to go on my grass so we cornered a nice big area off for them at back of villa which is currently covered in bark and some flags from previous owners. Some people suggested putting down a mesh under some pea gravel and its easy to keep clean and disinfect? Anyone share some help in this area? I don't want smelly wee garden especially in this heat yuk lol. I dont smell the wee at all, only the no. 2s. Do you have grass? You can buy potty drops in pet stores, and dogs will pee where they smell the drops. we used ti when we were potty training ours. There is also a spray called stop it, and they wont go in the area where it sprayed. All available from Dubai pet food.

Hello, I've just come from a salon and had a shocking experience! I've been going there for many months with my baby and was happy with the treatments I received! But after paying for my treatment today I was told not to bring my baby again, because they cried! I was fuming and asked for the managers number to complain. I was dumbfounded by her response, which was that they have a policy for no babies and when I told her I've been taking my baby for months and not informed of this, she told me my baby cried a little bit and so she's not welcome there, they only make exceptions for quiet babies!!l How can this be acceptable!?! I would just like to warn other mums of this incompetent salon! Ah, poor gemg33 it difficult for you, I know its hard when there is no one too look after your little one and you wants to do something, i would be really upset too. but, most places do have no baby policy or ladies talking on there phones. especially if your baby has never caused a problem before. why dont you try nail emporuim they come to you home so you could have your baby with you. http://www.nailemporium.me/ +9714 3447732

In all honesty do you have any idea how difficult and stressful it can be for some people to give up I tried when I wasn't pregnant and struggled. I would have hated to have tried while I was pregnant. But, why would you just not do anything to protect you child and make sure they are the healthiest they can be...woman smoking while pregnant now days is just ridiculous...we are so well informed and educated about this there is no excuse....

Hello, I am interested in doing a dental implants in Dubai. I am very young, but I have lost some of the back teeth, so the best option is the dental implantation. I would like to hear some personal experiences and some facts about this procedure because I don't have a clue about it. I know that every person and medical history is different, but I believe that you could help me make a general picture of the process of the implantation. So, let's begin: 1. The process of implantation, how much and when does it hurt? 2. How long does the process last and will I be able to work and function normally during it? 3. Do the implanted teeth really look like the real ones, or that is another marketing trick? (very important) 4. If the jawbone accept the implanted teeth, is there any risk of any pain afterwords? I am referring when you are flying, or when the time changes or when you are pregnant? (I ask this, because I have a lot of pain in the arm that I have broken a years ago, so I kinda have that fear that any procedure could cause me similar pain) 5. Do the implanted teeth need an extra attention? 6. How much is the average price per tooth? (I know that that depends on the which tooth you are planning to do, but I just need to know any average price) 7. Who is the best doctor in that area in Dubai? Thanks a lot :) 1.) Cost depends on how many you having, my husband had 3 and with the permanent crown it cost around 30000dhs with professor steen at dr michaels. He said it was very tender the first week of having them placed but after that nothing. you can continue as normal but need to avoid hard food, crusty bread for the 1wk to 10days. 2.) procedure, took him a few hours and had two appt only cause they work on one side at a time and my husband had in two areas. was back at work straight after each procedure. 3.) He had the implants placed when the teeth were taken out, straight into the sockets and had temporary crowns placed first, with dr chris j. at the same clinic, they cant put permanent crowns because its takes 1-3month for them to integrate to the bone and only once it has they then do the next stage and that place permanent crowns. Temp crowns are just cheap alternative for the initial stage. 4.) he has had them now for a year no issues at all....no pain 5.) special cleaning i believe, my husband had to buy a sonicare tooth brush and had little brush to clean in between (not that he uses them though!) he does see a hygienist there regularly who knows how to clean them 6.) About 10000dhs per tooth 7.) We highly recommend Dr chris and Professor steen, most people i know see chris and prof steen worked at Eastman dential hospital in london, i believe he is a real surgeon. As a ex- dental nurse i would not trust anybody else here. its so worth it if you can afford it, terrible loosing teeth. and if you have missing teeth you get bone loss which changes so much with you face and mouth....all the best x

cheme thank you! Preethihappy I am 26 years old. Do they offer non-hormonal treatments there? I have bought the lady comp baby and started taking my temperature to track my ovulation. I'm really excited and hope it will work with me. I have read that 90% of women after three period cycles manage to get pregnant so I'm trying to stay positive. Oh, you still very young. Have you have a proper examination yet, to make sure your Fallopian tubes are not blocked, the thickness of you lining is ok? There are so many things, I did not get checked until my 30s...and I dont mean to scare but I wish I had, as I had many things going on there. Highly recommend Dr Josza at Healthbay clinic, he is amazing and made things happen for me....but you still young, maybe you just worrying about it too much. dont think they offer alternative medicine, unfortunately..

We are looking to employ a filipino maid in September. She use to work in Dubai for 1yr and was sent back home recently, so we know her very well. My kids love her, she knows my likes and dislikes so we don't mind spending the money to bring her back. She is married and had a child back home but her relationship with her husband is not so good. While she was working her she got close to a pakistani man and has formed a relationship. I personally think its a dead end relationship because the guy has a very strict pakistani upbringing (promised to a girl back home, parents want him there now to get married). I cnt see this relationship being anything but a bit of fun. What i am worried about is how this might affect her work, while she was here previously she was always on her phone during work hours chit chatting away, i wouldn't mind her doing this if all the work was done, but never while i leave her in the care of my children. I'm also worried about if she gets herself pregnant, or if she thinks she can bring this man over when we are not around....i have told her already that if she does get pregnant theres nothing we can do to help you, just as a warning that its not an option. I don't trust the instinct in men either as she fought for the man she is currently married too, she hasn't spoken to her parents for years because they never accepted him and despite going through all that shes now chit chatting away to this new guy rather than fighting for her husband. How do you address these issues, am i being harsh expecting her not to have a relationship? Apparently its the filipino culture, so do i have to bite my tounge and let it be? Any advuce would be appreciated Thanks Dont even go there, if she doesnt get involved with this guy, it will be another, she is probably just that sort.Find someone else. The fact you worrying about it already and she is not even with you is a big sign to say no.

Has anyone had a wonderful afternoon tea in London that they would recommend? The best is the Sanderson Hotel, its an mad hatter tea party and the food was divine. Around 50-60pounds but includes a glass of champagne, you really wont regret it. And, the tea were so nice.

Hi there, hoping someone out there can help me. My hubby has been told by a very reputable dentist here that he needs to have his tooth extracted due to the levels of decay and state that the tooth is now in. He'd visited this dentist to have a root canal completed, which had been started by a previous dentist. The previous dentist was even in two minds as to whether he even needed a root canal which is why we'd like to seek a second opinion before we proceed with an extraction. We have seen the x-rays and have no reason to doubt the professional opinion of the current dentist but would like a second opinion nevertheless. Are there any dentists that anyone here can recommend? Many thanks. Dr Chris Johansson, is an excellent dentist, very honest and spends the time to go through all options. I recommend him to many friends. he is at dr michaels clinic, um sqeuin. definitely best to always get a second opinion of these sort of this. my daughter went to see a pediatric dentist who said she needed all sorts of things, including crowns and she was only 6, took her to see dr chris and all she needed was a few small filling.
