PO box is 92 however you would also need his mailbox number for them to direct his post to the HIS mailbox.

Hope your DD is feeling better. here DD is better but now DS is unwell instead! The house nearby is by agency too, said White Sand on the sign so I guess you are just better off going to DSOA. If you want the number to agency anyway just give me your email address.

Im new here so maybe I shouldnt speak but I think Mohandissa is right. You could always check the DSO website http://www.dsoa.ae/en/cedre-villas.jsp where there is a number to call for enquiries, maybe that is more direct? Otherwise there is a sign on a house in a parallell street to ours, not sure if it is for sale or to let but I can pass and check for you tomorrow (if I remember!) Ohhhh that would be good thanks xx dont know if im allowed to post details here, if you give me your email address I will send it over when i have it as today Im home with a poorly DD and probably wont get out of the house...

Just an update, we applied on the 16th and didnt wait for appointment for biometrics but went to a centre anyway. Yesterday DH got texts that the kids id card were ready and one that his application had gone back to typing centre. This morning he went and had to pay the fine. The fine was for all days in Jan, not just working days, and included the day he had applied so 16*20=320. So far no news on fine for me though.

plumie i think your britax carseat will be clipped into your car with anchor belts attached to the seat infront of it (and with the main seatbelt where it is positioned). I suggest you buy a spare set of anchor belts, that makes moving the car seat from one car to the next much easier. However come to think of it with the heat here in Dubai I think I would rather just spend the money on a second car seat. Imagine attaching the carseat in your car in the summer heat, all while your child is roaming around waiting, either on the pavement or inside the car....I've been soaked with sweat myself just from clipping in three children in their carseats (when the carseats were already in the car!)

I made a viking costume for my son out of potatosack material. Just made a hole for the neck and tied it around his waist with a rope. Then I bought him a helmet and a sword. Easy!

Cherry ripe we also arrived in august (or DH, rest of us came a bit later, maybe you are our neighbour ;) ) and he was never informed that he needed to do id cards asap. Today though he went to a typing office and sorted it out and for now there was no mention of any fines. He payed 370*4 and it took him an hour in total, now we have to wait for sms for appointment.

Im new to Dubai and was recommended to see Dr. Barrow but as you, found out he has left. We talked to him on his last day and he left Dubai all in all, not just City Hospital. Since I had to change plans Im now seeing Dr. Michael Klein at Health bay (I think its called) and so far I have had nothing to complain about, he calls me for test results and seems to know what he's doing up til now.

Check carseat.se if you are looking for rearfacing for your 3 year old. Lots of ppl here seem to have been using them I got mine here when I travelled. Do read the info section about isofix though as "The weight limit of rear facing Isofix seats is 18kg. (40 lbs) which is low by Swedish standards. The recommendation in Sweden is to keep children rear facing until age 4 which can be difficult with a 40 lbs weight limit. There are discussions on changing the Isofix limit to 22 kg. (48 lbs) but decision and implementation is years away" Good luck!

We have the "old" version of Britax Hi-way in our Pajero. It fits nicely however the clipping of the seatbelt IS a bit in the way to get DD in and out of the carseat but you get used to it. Im from Sweden and our roadsafety association suggests not to use the convertible ones (like two way) forward facing as they are too bulky and heavy for that kind of use. For forward facing its best to use a carseat only for forward facing like the Britax Kid plus. For DS we had a Two way until we had to change it when we were crashed into and changed into a Hi-way and I can confirm that there is more space to keep a child rearfacing longer in a Hi-way. He was lacking space in his Two way and fit much better in the Hi-way. My son was never particularly short and stayed rearfacing until he was 4½ in his hi-way and we didnt change him to forwardfacing for lack of space but other reasons. Regardless what carseat you choose, if you have two cars have a think about getting a spare set of anchor bands. They are a bit of a pest to attach and having a spare set will save you some time when it comes to moving carseat around. Good luck!

Just to let you know that today we got our acceptance email for Reception 2012 at DESS. Could it be that they started assessments for children with siblings in the school already?

Mine were both like that too and pull ups saved us. They are good for potty training but also for when kids only want to be standing up. They come in smaller sizes too so younger children can use them and you just pull them on like underwear and kids dont have to lie down to change nappy. Brilliant!

We bought ours from Oasis water 15 years ago for 800 dhs and never had a problem. We got their technician to come once as the water was too cold and he fixed it. Ours gives both hot and cold. ..no plastic taste. Our only issue lifting the bottle on to the dispenser. I wish some one would make one user friendly where the bottle sits beneath the dispenser and an electric pump brings the water to the cooling heating unit. We have one like that, its from Plug ins and the make is Midea. It was not cheap but well worth it for now as the design is perfect.

No cuddles,no cash. Get another nursery with loving affectionate teachers. *like* Could it be a case of not wanting trouble with abuse complaints? A friend thinks we are making too big of a deal about it and that we have transfered our feelings to our daughter. But how can we like a place where she spends 6 hours a day and they dont give her any affection?

Thanks for sharing your loving nurseries. DS's too. Today he was crying for mommy when I went to pick him up. He was seated on the lap of an assistant teacher and another teacher was trying to talk to him. I am very happy I am with them! Wouldnt leave my precious little bub with anyone who wont bother to cuddle him! That´s what Im feeling and why Im thinking of looking for another nursery! For me it comes naturally to want to cuddle a sad child and I dont get why I should have to bring up such a basic need to the teachers, that they dont do it automatically tells me a lot about them and the nursery.

Im not blaming the nursery for her crying in the morning, I just wish they would comfort her when she is sad. Its never easy leaving your crying child but its hearbreaking knowing she wont be comforted when she is sad. I will talk to the teachers about it but Im surprised I have to bring it up, I thought it would come natural for everyone (at least working with children) to want to comfort a sad child.

We just moved to Dubai and my daughter goes to a nursery nearby and she says she has fun, she is proud to point out "my school" every time we pass. However, every morning she is sad and crying. The teachers have not once picked her up for some cuddles or given her a hug. Is this the norm in Dubai? In our previous country the teachers would cuddle all sad children to comfort them when being dropped off so this is totally new to me and doesnt feel right for my LO. How are your nurseries? Loving or cold?

Hi ladies, Im all new to Dubai and this whole maid circus, but I´m eager to get some help around the house. Have tried to search for info but im missing bits and pieces and was hoping a good soul here could help out. Should I try to find someone here or go through an agency? Any agency recommendations? If someone is here on a visit visa, what does it take to get her employment visa? Does she have to go back to her country? What are the costs to change the visa? What are the costs to have a maid empolyed, apart from her pay, like healthcare, visa renewal etc? Thanks for any advice you might have...
