Just tell him that you know for a fact that your parents still like to ahummm on the sofa sometimes....even though he might not be able to imagine the scenario. Besides that, it is downright rude to ask this of them, even if the camera only points out toward to garden area. It is rude It puts you in an embarrassing position It is a dog Your parents will feel untrustworthy. It is a NO Yeh exactly, I'm gonna email him now - it's not happening full stop! Thank you for input.

A webcam to view a dog? More than a bit over the top! I know, its because we put our dog in Urban Tails and we can view him easily when we are on holiday but this (I personally think) is taking it too far - yes our dog is getting a bit older now and he is our most beloved guy (we don't have children) but it's still not a reason for the webcam. Keep the comments coming and then I will email my DH!

I believe that the old rule giving a second year at the same rent no longer stands. I think that landlords can now increase rents for the second year if allowed by the Rent Index calculator. But I also think they need to give you 12 months notice from the end of your current tenancy period. It's not an old rule, this law still exists 100% but sadly a lot of tenants do not enforce it. Believe or not the Law is on the side of the tenants in Dubai.

Firstly, you do not have to let your landlord know that you intend to renew, all contracts automatically renew unless you notify that you are NOT renewing. ( unless your contract specifically states non-renewable) Secondly you are entitled to 12 months notice under the Dubai tenancy laws. Therefore you do not have to file a dispute since you have the law on your side. If the agent disagrees, then it is up to them to file a dispute and they will be told at the outset that there is no case and will be turned away. My advice is to write to agent quoting tenancy law no.( 33) of 2008 and state your intention to remain in your apartment for a further 12 months. I second this - if you contract does not state that it is "non renewable" then as a tenant you have the right to stay for the 2nd year at the same rent. You very simply reply to the agent stating your rights as a tenant and you will be staying for the 2nd year and tell them that this is RERA Law. Do not waffle on in the email - this is all you need to say. They will know this to be true. Stand your ground. Based on this Law, they will NOT take you to RERA because they know you are right. We have been through all this before and we spent the whole week of our holiday once (from our sun beds!) throwing every law in the book at our estate agent and finally they backed down but you have to remain strong and don't ever think that you are better off moving and not have this stress. I know so people that have been thrown out after a year and I only wish that people were stronger and give these Landlords/Agents what they deserve. Good luck and be strong please.

I brought my Labrador over 5 years ago when he was 3 years old and I used http://www.petairuk.com/ Pet Air, they were brilliant and co-ordinated the whole thing with DKC this end. Yes expensive, I think cost was around 2.5k GBP but totally worth it - I wouldn't do it myself - leave it to the professionals. Good luck!

Most landlords will allow you to find a new tenant without a penalty. Subleasing to my understanding is not allowed without the landlords permission. Yes I would always be totally upfront with my landlady, she lives in Dubai so that makes it easier but I just needed to know whether it was allowed - I guess you have to involve the estate agent for paperwork but if I found someone then they wouldn't need to pay commission etc.

I have been following everyone on here as always, such great info! I finally went to Fahik last week to have an ultrasound and blood tests, all which were fine and so is my DHs sample fine too. We have been trying for over 8 years and I am now 41 so I am now taking Pregnacare, folic acid, royal jelly and Coq10 400mg and my DH is taking Coq10 also - I will spend the next 2 months doing a fertility diet and then we will start IVF in May - I have decided to do natural IVF - very excited and can't wait - Good luck to everyone else and a huge sprinkle of baby dust for us all!....

Hi jackie! I currently live in Dubai but my DH works and lives in Kuwait. I might be moving there myself towards the end of the year. I have a labrador and in Dubai during the summer months you just need to be getting out early well before 7am and then a quick walk in the evening - so it's definately doable. Over the next few weeks and months I will start to check out the facilities for dogs, veterinary care and boarding kennels (we are very spoilt here in Dubai with excellent kennels & daycare for dogs!). My DH has just moved to Al Zahra area which is more residential, it's near a shopping mall called 360 and also about 10 mins away from The Avenues which is a fab shopping mall. Going back to your doggy, apart from the walks obviously he/she will be inside with the A/C on just like my dog in Dubai. The winter months are quite a bit cooler - very cold actually so this is the time to have longer walks and burn a few more pounds as the unfortunately the exercise is less in the summer. If you need a good estate agent let me know. For jobs or anything else look at Dubizzle, fantastic website! Let me know if you any other questions and I'll try to answer them. Good luck!

Hi hopingblue, I took the following before and during stims: Coq10 - 400 Selenium Pregnacare - this one is amazing! Larginine - 3 times a day Royal jelly - cant remember dose but high one Folic acid I also ate loads of eggs, super foods like quinoa and lentils, and loads of protein like chicken, fish etc and I tried to eat organic meats, eggs and fruit. It was like a body builders diet but I believe it really helped with my egg quality, my hubby took a male fertility vitamin and coq10 too, I ended up with 3 (5 day) blasts, in which 2 transferred and stuck and have one frozen. I took two weeks off work during the retrieval and transfers and watched only funny tv (modern family), plus watched the video "the secret" the day of my transfer :) Acupuncture is another option, I actually did it for the two failed cycles but it never relaxed me and I always felt it hurt, but a lot of women it does relax them, I didn't do it for my successful cycle. If you do choose to do it I would highly recommend Dr Ou that comes to your house, she actually told me I didn't need it and recommended me to take the above mentioned vitamins. Best of luck to all the ladies going through ivf, remember to stay positive :) Hope this helps xxx edited by Mummabear on 30/01/2013 Hi mummabear, I'm just about to get the Coq10 400mg for myself, can I buy exactly the same for my DH as I have read it is also very good for men but I just wondered if 400mg is ok for DH. Hi Ladies, I have heard that to be able to join the British Embassy for all events that you need to know someone or be recommended by someone - my DH did meet someone who had access to the embassy last year but then his boss said he would sort it out but didn't. This was probably about six months ago and really my DH can't just get back in contact with this guy now seeings that he didn't know him anyway. So my reason for the post is, can you recommend anyone or is there anything else my DH can do to join the embassy to be able to go to their events? Really would appreciate any help or feedback. Thank you!

Hi everyone! We've just landed a week ago and will be based in Kuwait for awhile. Been doing some research on where to go for IVF in Kuwait? As of today, I have called only Dar al shifa in Hawally and New Mowasat in Salmiya. Any one had any experience with an IVF doc with a high success rate? If you can also give any idea how much this procedure costs in kwi, i much appreciate the info! Thanks in advance! Hi! Just wondering on whether you found more info, prices etc on IVF in Kuwait as I will looking into this myself this year. Hubby works in Kuwait and I'll be joining him for quite a few weeks. Would be good to hear from you although I know the Kuwait is not very active. All the best.

Just an update about this. So.... the good news is that even if your residency visa is with Abu Dhabi (and presumably any other emirate) you can still apply for a police clearance cert here in Dubai. Secondly, they dont check car and speeding fines etc, and they didnt mind that my Dh had no Emirates Id and simply finger printed him right there. And we went on a Friday afternoon as they said you can come anytime 24/7 to apply and it was totally empty and it took us 15 mins. The only thing I would recommend is to take photocopies of your passport and residency visas along with you because their coin operated photocopier is out of ink ;) Hi hilsbils, my DH needs this police clearance certificate as he is working in a different country now. You said that there was somewhere open on Fridays? Where is that please because it would be so much easier as he comes home every weekend to Dubai. He needs it pretty urgently too - nightmare! Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Can anyone please recommend some labour to take up and remove monoblock from my back garden. The whole garden is totally monoblocked meaning that 1) it looks bland and I would like to put in some boarders for flowers etc and 2) there is no drainage whatsoever - I need to get it done ASAP. Don't need a landscaping company as I can get plants etc myself - it's purely just labour work. Please please give me some suggestions ladies. Thank you....

Thank you Plumtree & Confusion, you have put my mind at rest. I totally agree, if we do end up having IVF then I would totally tell my boss and work appointments out, keeping them totally in loop. I think it's best to be open and honest - I think what would happen if I got a BFN and then I would need to count on the support of colleagues seeing that's where you spend most of the day! I have just moved house again which has been a real rollacoaster as we didn't know if we were actually going to stay in Dubai but hey now is the time to put that behind us and concentrate on hopefully getting our miracle. I'm not one to do a lot of research but I would most probably go to Fakih as that would be the closest from Springs. I haven't had any tests yet, I'm 41 so will they do tests on me first like my egg reserve? My DH is 50 and he had his SA done which showed low motility. Any info greatly appreciated. BTW did IVF work for you Plumtree or confusion?

I was just thinking....wouldn't it be funny if the OP FORCED the LL to renew and then she suddenly had to pack up and leave Dubai and he did not allow her to tranfer her lease,, or cancel in any way..... wow. who would be forced then? Your note that I never comment on the cutting comments on this forum but I have noticed over time captain America that your comments are always very cutting and are not useful to the OPs.

Exactly...how many threads have there been in the last 2 - 3 weeks alone about landlords trying to raise rents by amounts like 15 % who then decide they are going to sell properties? Many! I notice them in particular because we are in exactly that position - coming up to one year rental and first then is talk of an increase in rent , then when we quote the rental index, he is then suddenly wanting to sell but oh, let's talk about the renewal and oh, it is so expensive having a property here - the things you have to pay, our rent was a mistake last year ( it was the agent's fault/it should have been more) , we were never supposed to have a maintenance package blah blah, we were supposed to have had a letter telling us to leave from Person A ( when I have already spoken to Person A and he has told me he is not involved with that landlord anymore) - what a crock of ****! So many LIARS here! Do I call my tenants in the UK and ask them to pay a much higher price than current? No...Do I moan to them about the cost I pay for an insurance contract for the gas boiler ? No....Do I tell them the agency made a mistake and it should have been more last year? No....Do I lie to them? No.... I make a small price increase to keep in line with current values and sometimes not even then and I have property which has then not been empty one day in the last 7 years on one and 10 years on another ( which in fact was then bought by the tenant when we sold it!) Landlords have to be held in check here by rules and need to be held to them. I don't know why some of you are giving the OP such a hard time on this thread - she is only asking what she is entitled to do! And yes, many landlords here do need to be FORCED to adhere to the law! Well said sponge monkey!!! and clairehdp - there is some sense here! All I can say is that I am amazed at how many women take the side of these Landlords!

First of all - don't stress. From what you have posted, I take it this is now your 2nd year, so, you have a right to stay. Tell your landlord or whoever it is that you will be paying exactly the same way as last year I.e. the 3 cheques - if he has a problem, then let him take you to RERA (he won't, im sure if that), please be strong and stand up to him. I'm pretty confident saying that these landlords purely do this to scare us. You know that RERA law states that if neither party can come to an arrangement on cheques that the law says it defaults to 4 cheques - tell him that and to back this up - we did exactly this a couple of years ago. Remember as a tenant the law favours you and I get so sick of these landlords. Good luck and please stand your ground.

Hi! I originally posted this problem and I'm kinda glad that I'm not alone on this one anymore. Yes I'm still having problems. I text 3 times today and my mum got 2 of them which is a miracle. Was texting them last week and nothing. They also took their mobile into shop where bought but nothing to report. They've had that phone for 2-3 years and no problems before but this has now been going for about 3 months. I have 2 other old Dubai numbers with Etisalat and still doesn't work. My DH has also tried and nothing. I don't try to think about it too much now because it really upsets me. I still receive all my mums texts and she is fully aware of the problems. We Skype once a week and sometimes email. All too distressing. Texting has been around for a long time and I just wish I knew why we are having this disruption in service. :(

Soups, shakes & porridge are 12 dhs each and the chocolate bars are 15 dhs each. It's great and Rachel has been doing his for years and explains it all really well. I lost 3 stone last year but gradually have put on 1 stone so I'm starting t again on Sunday to shift that stone and another stone that I never got round to! Good luck and go for it! I don't have a problem telling workers or gardeners what to do. When I first moved to Dubai 5 years ago, I did my own gardening (before I worked) in Springs and Jumeirah Islands and looked a lot better than what it does now that I have a gardener (in Springs) - the amount of times I have to ask them to pull the weeds out so I sacked the last gardener, I've now had this new one for 2 weeks and he's going to be told from me to start weeding - what is wrong with these guys? and I'm not being harsh at all - just get out there and tell them to get back to work or to start working! Good luck.

I do have quite a bit of knowledge on tenancy contracts, however, I think what your saying is that it doesn't have "non renewable" and your contract (as all will do) states 1 year and you will have the right to stay for a 2nd year at the same rental price. For certain reasons last year, we had to quickly vacate our villa and in a rush we signed a "non renewable" lease which is up mid next month (Oct), however, the addendum on the reverse clearly states that if either us or our landlord wishes to renew then to notify either party 60 days prior so we contacted our landlord a few times in the last couple of months telling him our intentions are to stay of which he still has not replied neither have we heard from him to stay he wishes us to stay or vacate. 60 days has now come and gone so I believe I am well within my rights to stay for a 2nd year which obviously the price will have to be negotiated as our lease was non renewable. Hope this helps explains the difference for anyone.

Thanks for the info scotts1, it was just the gynie from my doctors surgery. She was nice enough but thinking about it now it just doesn't seem enough. I told her that we had been trying for 8 years and that we got checked out about 5 years ago and no probs. I told her that I started using the ovulating sticks in July and that I didn't ovulate but in August I did and I guess that's why she thinks then that I'm not ovulating every month. Personally looking back I would have expected more to be done considering I'm 41 and my DH is 51. I paid AED400 for about 20 minutes with her too - what should I do? My DH is doing the sperm analysis this weekend then obviously she needs to see me when the results are back from that. Should I just tell her that I want the AMH test done? I think this is wise right? I can highly recommend Dr Munira at Dubai Mall medical centre. When I went she ran all the tests immediately and explained all the issues. Since she is a fertility specialist she knows her stuff. Not sure if your medical insurance is covered there? I don't think my medical insurance covers anything like that, maybe I should enquire at work to see if it can be added? Do you know the cost of all the tests? Hope you feeling good by the way, and your little ones are growing nicely inside x
