I had train tracks, top and bottom at Dr Michaels a few years a go - it was about 16,000 for the full treatment. You pay in instalments every time you go. The orthodontist was at the Al Wasl branch - Dr David. I have permanent retainers cemented behind my teeth. When I went for a recent check up at another dentists he said the work was excellent and he's seen some really terrible orthodontic work here. Up shot - you get what you pay for. Hi FD,may I know which year was your 16,000 treatment at Dr. Michaels? Now they are charging twice that amount.

I posted a job ad last week for a female secretarial position on a behalf of a relative and I have not only been bombarded with 100s of CVs but I received two phone calls from men applying for the job at 3.30 am on a week day and 6.00 am on a Friday. I was also shocked by the amount of lies I unraveled during phone interviews. CV's are becoming fancier in design but i'm finding content more and more doctored and far fetched and candidates are unable to back up the claims on their CVs. I think its tough at the moment in both directions to find trustworthy candidates as well as employers unfortunately. I always suggest to look through international sites that post jobs that are based here ie. The Guardian newspaper always lists jobs in the Gulf, just type keyword Dubai or Emirates as you see there are quite a few jobs listed at the moment. https://jobs.theguardian.com/jobs/?Keywords=dubai#browsing - or if you fancy a job as PA, Tutor, Event Organiser, Cook or Housekeeper to VIP Families, Executive Offices, London Domestic Staff agencies do post jobs with some amazing salaries. Just look in the jobs available section regularly, send your CV, you can have a phone interview. These are some of the best in London: www.beauchamppartners.co.uk www.hutchinsons-staff.com www.greycoatlumleys.co.uk www.quintessentiallypeople.com Also create google alerts to find jobs and get info straight to your in box as it comes up Do a search of the companies in your field, apply directly, find out who the HR Managers are and contact them. Attend exhibitions and network as much as possible Look at your transferrable skills and apply for job in a different industry Best of luck to you, I know it's really tough right now Applicants lie about their skills because recruiters are "supposedly keen" on shortlisting candidates who did the exact same job they are recruiting for. There are people out there who may not have the exact same job role but can surely do a much better job than those with the exact same experience recruiters want. On my previous employment, I was hired as a walk-in applicant. I started the job from scratch, and ended up better than my seniors. Due to the companies global restructuring, I lost my job again after several years with them. I tried walk-in again coz I know this works better than online application based on my previous experience, however everybody seem to have shifted to online hiring. Applicant Tracking System though isn't applicant friendly; even if I'm applying to a vacancy in my line of work, I don't get shortlisted though my previous employers were quite impressive. Recruiters on the other hand will milk money from candidates. They claim to select the best candidates for employers using their ATS, but they seem to shortlist people who will pay for a premium service. Not sure if this really works, I tried to pay a minimal amount on 1 application, but since it was a small amount, a lot of candidates may have tried the same so it was pointless in the end. The recruiter simply gained profit from candidates like me, and at the same employers pay for their service.

Hi, I need a French tutor for adults. Is there anyone here still offering their service?

I had mine done at Dr Michael's. I had ceramics on top and the plain metal brackets on the bottom. Cost about 16,000 dhs in all. Also something bear in mind about having braces as an adult, is that the removable retainers don't work very well. I have permanent retainers cemented behind my front teeth. If you aren't vigilant then you're teeth will just move back and the time, pain and expense will be a waste. I would say very much you get what you pay for here. My current dentist said my orthodontist did an excellent job - he's seen some real mess ups when it comes to braces and retainers. Hi FairyDust, is the AED 16,000 for a full treatment? My daughter was quoted more than AED 30,000 in the same clinic for a mild case, full treatment. May I know who's your orthodontist, can you pm the info if you don't mind? Thanks.
