Hi KB75. I have a wheelchair you can borrow for that period. I have one here for my Sister to use when she visits, but that is only every Feb. The rest of the time it just sits in my storage cupboard.

hahaha xmasbaby - sadly I never took her name. I did witness one poor woman have a total meltdown and start screaming 'where is your empathy, are you not here to HELP Canadians?' when I was there another time! It really is atrocious.

I dread having to go to the Canadian Consulate in Dubai. Everytime I have gone I have either ended up in tears OR have seen other people in tears! The women behind the glass are soooo rude. I am a citizen by naturalisation (my family emigrated there when I was two), so I grew up there and we received citizenship in 1986. Anyway, after university I went to work in the UK for a couple of years (I also have at UK passport by birth) and then met my husband to be blah blah blah so I haven't actually lived in Canada in about 12 years but will definitely be returning there. So when I went to renew my passport I was questioned/interrogated and they she insinuated that I may lose my citizenship! I was so upset and her comment was pulled out of thin air. I really think they need to change their staff there.

Hi Just wondering how far in advance should the exit pass be organised prior to travel? Does it take weeks to process or can the POLO office do it in one day? Thanks for any help - I am all new to this!

Hi Of course, for take-off, landing and turbulence I had to hold him on my lap with the extended belt. The reason I had the car seat on board was to restrain a constantly moving toddler and the special lever press for the lap portion of the XP held the seat secure for that purpose. For overall saftey on the flight, I always had to take him out and have him on my lap.

Hi I flew with the same carseat on Emirates a couple of summers ago when my son was 16 months. It was fine to secure it by lap belt. I just secured it using the lever press part of the seat (if that makes sense?) Honestly it is pretty wedged in and totally fine. When I went to check in, I made sure I had printed off the Emirates website section stating the car seat regulations PLUS the pages from the Maxi Cosi website confirming the specs of the car seat. I knew I would get questioned but when they looked at the paperwork they confirmed it was ok... and said I should be a lawyer!

Hi minimax We moved into Cedre Villas in October and love it here. So lovely and peaceful (after living in JBR!). We rent a 3 bed, plus study, plus maids room direct through Silicon Oasis Authority. We paid with one cheque so we got a reduced price of AED145K. Normally it is AED150K. Not sure what the larger villas cost.

Hi LIL I just had a wonderful day with a friend up at the Desert Palm (just past Dragon Mart on the Hatta Road). The deal is AED425 for an hour massage, use of pool and spa facilities for the day and lunch. It was my first time at the Desert Palm and it was lovely.

The reason is because there is always a mid-season hiatus in the US. New episodes haven't been shown there either. You can check episode guides online and they will tell you the air dates. I think most are restarting again this week or next. It is annoying, but nothing to do with OSN.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I am pleased to say that at this very moment my little guy is fast asleep! Talked to him about quiet time every day, which means resting in his room or reading books in his room. Anyway, after a few attempts and me suggesting we lay down together, he nodded off (and so did I!). Hopefully we can keep the momentum...

Hi Glitzi I use one for my son's room and for travelling and it is great. Really recommend it. Probably one of my more useful buys!

Hi My Sister uses a wheelchair and we took her to the show a couple of weeks ago. From the parking lot to the seating area is only a short distance, but it is all gravel in the parking lot, so almost impossible to push a wheelchair. My Sister can crutch a little bit, so she ended up using her crutches to get inside. It is all flat inside. It is a really great show.

I just bought a Silent Night mattress from Homes R Us yesterday. They are 25% off at the moment. Debenhams sells the same brand but they aren't on sale there. It was at the Arabian Centre.

I feel your pain. Lived in JBR for 3 years and initially it was dead quiet because it was still a construction site on the walk, but the final year we lived there it drove me mad. I know it depends on which building you are in -and ours was particularly bad. Fun fairs, parades, loud music from events and the cars and bikes drove us away. Unfortunate as it is great living on the beach and having the convenience of amenities at your doorstep.

Hi We stayed at the Constance Ephelia last April and loved it. Our little boy was just over 2 at the time and he had a blast. They do have a kids club, but to be honest we didn't use it as spent most of out time in the pool. We had a ground floor suite which was ideal as had a terrace, so we could put our son down for naps and then sit outside. The pool was metres away. The hotel was very accommodating with meals for him. Evening meal service in the restaurants didn't start until 7pm, so they would bring something for our son to our room before then and we would book a babysitter for later in the evening when he was asleep to go for our meal. The babysitters were all lovely. They were staff from the Kids Club. I would really recommend it.

I think it depends where you are flying to. I am asked for a letter from my husband every time I enter Canada with my son.
