I had my child outside marriage and was able to sponsor with no problem. The father is on the birth certificate and I received a no objection letter from him stating that he had no problem with me living abroad with my child. I can't advise about the civil union, but perhaps someone else can. Good luck with everything

Home centre (Oasis Centre) had one bed that style a couple months ago. Can't remember the cost, but think it was quite reasonable.

Kelly1814 - also parking in the underground parking beside residence tower 9/tasty delight ice cream place. :) If driving, do a u-turn at the qamardeen lights, then take the first right heading down into the car park. In the car park, there's an exit which takes you directly into the square - cross over this (passing the restaurants) and you'll see the bridge over to the park. If you're planning on going this weekend, it'll be rather noisy as the motoX bikes will be there in the afternoon 2-3pm and 4-5pm

It is literally just a park - largish grass area with walking/running track around. I take my dog there every day and in most cases it's quiet, unless there's an event on. There's no play area etc - great view of the fountains tho.

It's fab - my cupboard is never without a bottle ever since I sprayed the kitchen handles with it, left it for a few minutes and almost spewed at the yuck that was lifting off them. It wasn't as tho I never cleaned the door handles either!!

Thanks redz, do you remember how much it was? and where is tavola? It was around 75 dirhams for the house and I think the tree was around 60 dhs - don't hold me to that though, ha. I got the gingerbread house in the Tavola in Mirdif City Centre Mall - 1st floor down the C4 end. There's a few Tavola's around Dubai - one on Beach Rd near the McDonald's (Jumeira 1 I think) and one in Mercato. There are other branches, but I'm not entirely sure where.

Hi lovelies, I'm thinking of making a GBH with the girls this year as an activity but it seems too complicated and too much work/mess to make it from scratch. Anyone seen one in a kit anywhere? and how much was it, do you remember? I got the one in Tavola - very simple to put together. They also do gingerbread christmas trees, which I thought were great if you have little ones helping - they are super straightforward to build.

Brian at Ying Yang salon in JBR. He is scottish really good hairdresser. Depends which side of Dubai you are i tried Salon Ink but it was a nightmare to get too. I also hear good reports about Ted Morgan Salon in Motorcity x Ah, so this is where Brian has gone. Good to know :0) I would also recommend Brian as I used to go to him at his previous salon.

Rebecca - we paid 650 for a bottle of absolute and some cans of mixer. Was from the stall down on the beach rather than up on the vip platform. I thought that was pretty expensive, but 1200 is crazy. Was a great day/night - November's line up looks even better. Taxi queue was a bit of a nightmare at the end of the night!!

Its pretty much a given that we will see an increase in price I imagine. Not much we can do about it though I guess. Won't do much for the ever increasing carbon footprint we have here either.

Hi DXBchica, I know that there is one of the layout 1 available and another (I think) available soon as it is currently empty. Also Redz, you say there is one of layout 1 currently available - there are quite a few listed on Dubizzle with a number of different agents but does this mean they're all trying to let the same one? Just wondering if its worth me calling all the agents if they're going to offer the same apartment. I think the one listed is in Tower 9. There's also one listed in T2 but sounds like that was Phase 1 so perhaps different layouts there. Thanks Hi, Apologies for the delay in replying. As far as I know, there is only one available in tower 9 and that is the layout 1 style. It looks onto the Qamardeen Hotel. Its situated on floors 1 and 2, therefore, another villa will be above on the 3rd floor, so no garden as such - more of the balcony (large) style terraces. I think I saw the one advertised in T1 - I think they probably do have a different layout and generally face onto the fountains. Wanted to view this myself, but its over our budget unfortunately. The executive towers villas are lovely, but trying to find one is like finding hens teeth! Much more space than the ones at the residences. Good luck with the viewings - i hope you find something.

I love a good fight. Let's see, my maids get up at 4am, walk the dog, clean the house and then prepare breakfast for me and all the children. She brings it to us in bed. Then, we let her eat off our plates when we are done, if there is any left over. Then, she gets the children ready for school while I go back to sleep. When the children are at school, she cleans the entire house, does the grocery shopping and prepares dinner for us all. I get up around 1pm and give her any old clothes that no longer fit in my closet. She does not have a nice room. She sleeps on the floor in the kitchen, because my house does not have a maid's room. She babysits every night, because I am very busy. I must socialize for my husband's job and we are out nearly every night. No flight home. No holiday, because, you see, I can't do without her for even one day. She'll get a holiday when I switch maids in a few years time. But I pay her more than average, you see. Next year, after her raise, she'll be getting nearly 1000 dh! Incredible (or maybe not) as it sounds, this doesn't appear far off what I see/hear next door to me. :\: Not surprising they seem to go through maids at a rate of knots.

Hi DXBchica, There are different layouts to the podium villas - as far as I know, there is 4 different layouts - in phase II, towers 7, 8 and 9. 1. a 3-bedroom duplex which covers floors 1 and 2 of the building, so the outside space is limited and is really only balcony style. The living area is bigger than the other layouts, but the kitchen is the same in all from what I remember. All 3 bedrooms are ensuite. The maids room is slightly bigger than layout 4 (below) and en suite. 2. a 3 bedroom duplex (i'm pretty sure they are 3 bedroom anyway) which have a slightly strange layout - the bedrooms are on the lower level (same level as car park) and living area on the 3rd floor leading out to a good size garden/terrace and a gate providing direct access to the pool/play area/gym. 3. a 2 bedroom duplex with front door on 3rd floor, again providing easy access to pool etc and bedrooms upstairs. These don't have a maids room so wouldn't be suitable. 4. a 3 bedroom bungalow (there's only 1 of these) with a large terrace/garden. The maids room is small though and has an en suite. I know that there is one of the layout 1 available and another (I think) available soon as it is currently empty. I think the maids rooms would be of similar size to the 3-bed old town apartments if I remember rightly from when I was looking. Hope this helps.

That is absolutely shocking! Surely someone knows who they are. I thought what I saw this morning was bad - a father letting his son (aged 3 ish) sit on his knee and drive the car (a white porsche 4x4). The small boy was steering and the car wasn't exactly going snail pace! This was around the Residences towers in downtown burj khalifa.

Probably not very helpful, but I had a bra wire stuck in one of the holes in the drum of my washing machine - after a lot of prodding and pulling, and major risk of completely knackering the machine, i put an empty cycle on and it disappeared!! That was 2 years ago and no problems with the machine have arisen. I can only presume it got sucked into a tube somewhere and washed away - as you can probably tell, I have no clue on the mechanics of a washing machine!! As I said, probably not helpful, but thought I'd share my experience. Hope you find a solution soon :)

Its what many places use to do gel extensions. It also comes in different colours - similar to gellish/shellac idea but lasts longer. Its meant to be better for your nails than acrylic, but my nails always seem wrecked when its removed, so haven't used it for years.

How do i get to Souk Al Bahar parking? I think it's 10am it starts - or was when it was outdoors. Souk al Bahar parking is on Emaar Boulevard - if you take a right off Financial Centre Road towards the cinema parking and keep going straight. At the 2nd set of lights (its a pedestrian crossing opposite the Al Manzil Hotel) take a right in towards the Palace Hotel and take immediate right off roundabout and you will see the entrance into the car park. Hope this makes sense - I'm sure someone else can write better directions than me!!

Can anyone who has been in a similar situation comment to assist a friend? Has anyone heard of or been to the Humanitarian Court to present a case with regards sponsoring their kids if they are a single mother who wants to work here in UAE? There are no custody issues from home country. Thanks I sponsor my DD (single parent, child born out of marriage) with no problems whatsoever. Had to get a letter of no objection from DD's father, but all seemed pretty straightforward really. I didn't have to visit any court etc. HTH - good luck to your friend, I hope everything works out fine for her.

I wouldn't say bubbilicious is overly dressy - I've been wearing a dress/heels and felt over dressed. Last time I went with a group of friends I wore a maxi dress with some wedge shoes. Others in the group wore tailored short trousers and nice tops. In case you are meaning the kids... My DD always wears something comfortable, such as leggings and dress/tunic top. Mainly because she spends most of her time outdoors at the bouncy castle, petting zoo etc. Hope this helps.

No accommodation, but they are expanding, so as Lady Bubbles mentioned, it could be on the cards. The park isn't that big and only takes a few hours to go round. They've recently got two white tigers, which seem to be the new attraction.

Does it make your hair poker straight or can you still blow dry it into a wavy style? Hmmm, I would say mine is more straight than wavy now. Even if I leave to dry on it's own, it wouldn't go into a wavy style. You'd have to curl with tongs or straighteners for this.

Is on Gonabit today - and wanted to know if this is worth it? Any disadvantages of doing a keratin treatment? I've had QOD done and love it. What a massive difference to my hair - my hair type is incredibly wavy, frizzy and tends to grow massively in size with the humidity. Instead of taking approx 30 mins to blow dry, it now only takes 5 minutes and it is practically straight. I generally just leave it, but if I am going out, I will take the straighteners through it. Just make sure you persevere and do leave your hair (no washing, getting it wet at all) for the 3 days necessary! You also need to invest in sodium/sulphur free shampoo/conditioner as normal products will strip the keratin treatment out of your hair. The salon will have these I imagine. HTH :)

DesertRain - should 2 of your "lefts" be rights...? i.e. "[i'>Take the first road to your left. [/i'>" I think this should be right turn towards the hotel? "[i'>Go directly left again, you will be driving on the sand dunes of the beach.[/i'>" I always go right here as left would take you into that area where the quads go round the off-road track thing? Or maybe I have been going to the completely wrong area?! The beach I sometimes go to with pooch has a barrier with the Jebel Ali Hotel and there's always caravans on it?? Am I going to the right place?
