Hello, I don't wash my comforter at home. Normally I would take it to the laundry once every 3-4 months. This is much safer as the last time i washed it, it didn't dry well and it was ruined. Big size duvet covers are available in The White Company and MEROE - The Bed Boutique. They have up to 290 cms wide.

Ok! I have been discussing this with many friends and i totally believe the prices will go down. I was here during the 2006-2008 crazy increases in prices. I can see the same happening today. There is no way prices in Dubai in the middle of the desert are as expensive or more than UK or Europe. Dubai is managed very smartly. They are monitoring the new comers to the country and also controlling the handover of new developments across town. As long as they are able to balance this, they are always in control of the prices (i.e. more new comers is automatically matched with quicker release of new buildings). From another angle, there are a lot of speculators that are buying 10-20 apartments (they are many. My DH knows an Italian guy who bought 10 and got his friends in Italy to buy up to 40 apartments in the Marina). This is mainly for investment. They are here to make 10-25% return on their investment over 12-18 months. They are cash rich and willing to hold off the apartments for a long time to get this premium back. This will only fall down if the buyers are not willing to go up and pay these premiums. Only then, we will see the apartments going down steadily, but with out a crises this time. However, land department is able to know what apartments are being sold and to whom. Also, one of the most important objectives of Ejarrii is to know the number of rented apartments (their prices, locations...etc). This feeds back info to decision makers on the availability and speculations. I think this is how Dubai is monitoring and managing prices across town. Its in every country's interest to increase the price of its land. But, i wonder at what level do they want it to reach.

I think the news are totally over rated! My friend just came back from a holiday in Egypt and they absolutely loved it! There is some issues in Cairo (mainly on Fridays) , but Alex, Sharm and Shokhna are very quite. Rates are really low there due to political issues, so it looks like a great deal too.

Hello, I think you should take it to iStyle. I had issues with mine and i think you should go to their store in Dubai Mall. Look for the store manager. His name is Ali (I think). He is the best one there.

Hello, I went with Hubby last week to renew his driving license in one of the shops in MOE. He did both test and passed. We also asked what happens if he would have failed the color blind test. The guy answered: nothing! He said that traffic lights are Red and Green and most people should see these colors. Also, Red is the top one and green is the bottom one, so without knowing the color, you can understand what sign is on! So, i guess it is not a big deal!

Check out your time settings. I had a problem before that my setting was two years earlier (don't know how this happened). And all calls were ignored as it was too old. If not, then you should go to any mobile shop in the mall or Du (of course).

For sure YES!!! We went two years ago and we loved it! Amazing resorts on the beach and lovely people. Food is so cheap and drinks are super affordable! If you are not fixed to the north, then you should pay a visit to Ko Samui. It is fantastic!

Also, give computer mall in Bur Dubai at try. They have a lot of used mobile phones on the ground floor. They should be able to assist if this can be sorted out.

Hello, I used to own a BB and then i decided to make the switch to Samsung 2 years back. It is great for the Apps ONLY!! I am a BB girl. I love my keyboard and it is so much easier to type and email. To be honest, when i bought the Samsung, after a while i got so bored of the touch screen and stopped emailing and texting from my phone. I couldn't take it for more than a couple of months and here I am back on my BB again :) If you are gonna use it for Apps only, then go ahead. But, it will never replace a BB.

Hello, I don't think you can get anything fixed in Dragon Mart. Its a nightmare to deal with most of the shops there. It is only for bargain. Even though, i bought a couple of kitchen cleaning things from there, and i ended up throwing most of them after a couple of months, due to poor quality. Not doing this again!!! I think Karama is your best bet! I know it is a nightmare, but guess that is the only place to get it done :)

Hello, Level in Dubai Mall is my favorite. They are quite pricy, but amazing wide collection. They have most of the high street brands there. Always worth a visit every now and then. Also, Harvey N is another good option with Bloomingdales. Best time to buy is during the Dubai Shopping Festival (January) and Dubai Summer Surprises (Summer). They have sales up to 50 and 70%. Welcome in town :)

Hello, I used to buy mine from The White Company when they go on sale. But a couple of months ago, i found this new shop on Uum Suqeim Road, MEROE - The Bed Boutique. We finally have a specialty sleeping shop in Dubai. Their prices are better than The White Company and Debehnams and i love that they manufacture most of their products in Portugal. Great quality linens, pillows, toppers, headboards....etc. Must see :)

Hello, This is going to cost you an arm and a leg. Shipping door to door is quite expensive. Your best option is to see if you know anyone working in a Multinational company that has a corporate rate with any of the courier companies. They get anywhere between 50%-80% on standard rates. They should be willing to do it under their name. The delivery can be done to your address.

Hello So So, Its not too complicated, but there is a lot you need to know about the laws and regulations. As mentioned in the below comment, the local sponsor should own 51% of the company on paper only. You will also need to have a location for your business (office, showroom..etc) prior to being able to apply for a Trade License. It is quite straightforward but takes a good couple of weeks. So, many companies in Dubai can do all the paper work for you. However, you need to be here first. Good luck,

Hello, We work with a company that comes twice a month, to clean the whole office. They are very competitive. We only pay AED 400 per month for 6 hours in total. I think most of the shops in the mall have finished the sale or selling old stuff. You need to check out the shops on the streets. They have some good sales. Go see shops on Sheikh Zaied Road, and Umm Suqeim Road in Al Barsha.

Morning ladies, Considering moving to the greens, The links, currently live in the marina, and have a dog who i walk down skydive Dubai. Is there anywhere to walk the dogs around that area? Hello, Yes, we live in The Greens. Our neighbor is German and he has a dog for the past 3 years. She takes the dog daily and runs around, plus there is a small lake which is perfect for walking around with the dog. I guess that is not a problem at all.

i think we have drifted from the main topic into side ones. The best way to deal with this (i think) is to have informed one of the managers/superivisors on the floor about the incident. They will then follow the customer outside the store and check the bag with the unpaid product. If she is a shoplifter, this will be dealt with by the management of the VS and the store/mall should take necessary actions with the police. This way we don't get involved in anything and we move on with our shopping. I don't think giving a blind eye is the right move.

I did it last July 16th at Al Manara Municipality: -Bring your original DL, Emirates ID, passport + visa page copy -Go and pay for the eye test where the result copy will be handed over to you, there's a sign to follow the location of the eye test -Get a number for RTA -Renewal will be processed after payment and the photo for the DL is taken automatically from your Emirates ID photo in the database -Wait for the new license The whole process took me 45 mins but there were 20 people ahead of me. It's so easy and quite efficient. Thank you so much for this. Very helpful! edited by RH1977 on 29/07/2014

Hi, My friend lives in the Golden Mile. She has a one bedroom. It is beyond fantastic. The building is well maintained and the view is gorgeous. Its a bit pricey, but if you can afford it, then go for it. I think it is much nicer than the shoreline. Tiara is also one of the best buildings on the palm. edited by RH1977 on 24/07/2014

Meroe- the bed boutique sells gorgeous bedding but insanely pricey! Yes, I agree. Their customized section is very expensive. But, I bought the 400 thread count duvet cover from them for 600 or 700 dirhams. I like it more than what i bought from the white company last year.

Hi, I think you should start by looking at Uum Suqeim Road, Al Barsha 2. This is now developing into a furniture retail street. There are a lot of new shops that have opened there. Marina is also opening in a month their biggest store in the UAE there. You also have new shops like Carpet Center, MEROE - The Bed Boutique, Peppers, Memoire, Intercoil and Home Outfitters. There are great deals in these shops. They are priced much better than the malls. Welcome in town :)
