There is actually a whole booklet attached to the latest 'Time' Out' magazine. It would be helpful to you with not only what you should and shouldn't do but it explains all about why it happens etc. Sure it will be helpful to read. Have just noticed on the right side of this there is ExpatWomans own Ramadan Guide. edited by roysie on 07/07/2013

All depends on where you are staying... we are frequent visitors and stay in a house in a village and yes lots of creepy crawlies and monitor lizards (which wont hurt you) snakes are definately around but have only seen 1. These bugs you will always find in a humid green environment.... if you stay in a hotel then I cant see a prob.

All the fabric shops are good in their own way.. depends on what sort of fabric you want. There are many all on one street so you just have to pop into a few. Sunrise is the tailor I personally use. He is behind the municipality building. Inbetween the mosque and gas station near the fabric shops. Thanks roysie, looking for chiffon material, do you know any good fabric shops by name ? Yes.. Regal is very good.

Head to Satwa.. they are literally everywhere there. They have big signs on the doors to let you know what they can type for you.

OK.. Its only been open 2 weeks and very clean :-) Karama main post office is on the main drag through Karama. As you look at the front of the post office you need to go down the street to the left of it. You will then see a big Emirates NBD bank and directly behind that (to the left side of the post office) is the new government facility. It is very big and white, really you can't miss it!!! But the parking is tricky so grab a space quick if you see it and walk. It opens at 7.30am so aim if you can to get there as close to that at possible. The link that someone posted below is wrong. It is the government medical fitness centre you are looking for. The telephone number is:3426666 edited by roysie on 25/06/2013 edited by roysie on 25/06/2013

If you enter the Freezone at gate 4 keep in the left hand lane and do a u turn before the roundabout. Then take your first right and go straight. Take a right and then you want the last turning on the right before you reach the next junction. The post office is at the end of this road. Hope the directions make sense! Thanks Yorky.

The rules are a lot tighter now.. we have been here some years but have just had new visas done for a change of job and we needed our marriage certificate and DS's birth certificate attesting. They have to go back to the UK, they wont do them at the embassy. I used a brilliant company to do it all from here but obviously be easier to do while still in the UK. They have to go to Milton Keynes (only by post, they wont do in person).

Yes lots.. the most popular one is Fida (to the rafters with buttons etc) which is on the same street as all the fabric shops. There are many more on that street too that are cheaper but you need to have a stroll to find them. edited by roysie on 18/06/2013

yes definitely Dyson , more expensive than other brands but you save on filters and bags later Thank you however I refuse to pay 100 GBP more here than in the UK out of principal! Dubizzle the way to go :-) and what happens if it go's wrong.. no warranty and then you have wasted your money. I have 2.. one upstairs and one downstairs. They are undoubtably the best.

You can book a premium service appointment over the phone for the passport office in the UK. Then go back 4 hours later and collect. FYI you can only book the appointment 2 weeks in advance.

I would certainly ring Emirates instead of taking risks of it being taken away. Or you could ask a chemist if you can get in smaller bottles for travelling purposes?

Passion in the Gold & Diamond Park is also good... would'nt go anywhere else. They are straight infront of you as you walk in main door What are they like to buy rings from? Thanks I personally have only had things made and fixed there... the quality of workmanship is very good so assume the rings he sells are the same. He is always quite busy, so usually stands to be a good thing :-) Thanks for this. All I need to do now is a little persuasion :) Ha, ha.. good luck ;-)[u'>[/u'>

Steff99 if he's anything like my dog he'll be fine. DH takes him and ends up upset as the dog runs straight off wanting to play! He has the time of his life and it's great that he gets to socialise (he'll be in PP 12 July for a week and 1 Aug for 10 days so will be looking for doggy chums!) Ha, ha.. and my 2 nutters will be there from 12 July for 3 weeks too. They are always good to play! edited by roysie on 06/06/2013

I have been here in Dubai for just over a week and I have mentioned to my husband a number of times that I keep getting the sensation that I have "sea legs", like Tattie Bogle stated. The sensation keeps making me feel ill. Hasn't happened today or yesterday but there were a few days since i arrived in Dubai when i felt it happen for a few Consecutive days. Thank goodness I'm not going mad!! My husband asked "you aren't pregnant are you?", I bleeping hope not ha ha ha :) edited by Thunderbird on 04/06/2013 try and increase your water intake around 5 fold! Hi, was the dog found in the desert between Layan/Al Waha and Arabian Ranches? If so, I might know who the dog belongs it. There is one saluki missing in my neighbourhood.... Waiting for your response. I am sure this is a black & tan pure breed Saluki missing from Al Waha. I posted it on my page and Layans page around 2 weeks ago.

thanks for replies ladies. I have small children and don't want to give unnecessary vaccines. I can't find BA medical centre online, does anyone have a number? http://www.masta-travel-health.com Typhoid you get from unclean water/food mostly.. the vaccination has a 70 % coverage and cause a heavy arm and maybe a fever. Hope that helps. edited by roysie on 03/06/2013

We have been quite a few times and never had jabs. We consulted BA travel clinic originally.. thats all I can tell you. My only advise is to always drink bottled water (checking seal 1st) and use plenty of mosquito repellant containing deet. edited by roysie on 03/06/2013

Surely you are on DH visa the only way that could be done would be for DH to cancel you and girls off of his visa when his company cancels his and then for his company to sponsor you and girls. You think they might do that?

Yes.. perfectly normal *chuckle* Yes, totally normal... ;-) and this is why we no longer have one :-) I ended up not knowing the truth and didnt want someone like that in my home so now I am chef, cleaner, babysitter, taxi etc, etc and thats the way I like it. But lucky that I can. There are good maids around for sure but you have to take chances to find them.

ok thanks for that, I guess we're going to have to be super organised!!.. Depending on what time they start... I always leave at 7 to get my DS there for 7.30. If you leave 5 mins later the traffic will build then there is a change of being late. At 7 its ok.
