Clear film types are good for a short period of time but yellow after a year or so due to the glue and the suns rays, wax types are ok but require regular maintenance. I know a company who supplies Mercedes and Al Futtaim with a teflon based product which is affordable and lasts the product is called maxguard edited by roysie on 19/01/2012

Just did a quicky google.. someone had asked if you can to bring it into Dubai, then someone had answered that you can buy it here for 270aed, but it does not say where? So at least you know it is possible.... Personally I have always found 'Life' pharmacy good for finding different bits or if not try the lovely lady pharmacist in Jebel Ali by the petrol station near IBN Battuta Mall. Good Luck :)

Maybe you can seek the advice from another vet... different vets have different ideas always worth a try. I use Dr Dominic at the Polo Club he is very good.. maybe he can help you further. edited by roysie on 17/01/2012

While I agree that the OP should get her friend to a doctor.. I also think its outrageous to suggest her friend may have cancer!... not good, and not needed. :( Why? I know the symptoms - my dad died of it last year! I did not suggest you did'nt know your facts and I am very sorry for your loss... I just meant that the OP was merely asking in which direction/specialist her friend should see, she was not asking for diagnosis...

I used to take Microgynon in the UK.. when I came here I gave the chemist the packet and he gave me Gynera... its the same drug. Just double check with your chemist next time you go in... the names are only brand names not drug names :-)

All K9 attempt to do is make sure that a 'dumped' animal is not 'dumped' again... they try to make sure that the dog is homed in a 'forever' home.... If you see how traumatised one of my dogs still is after being mistreated and dumped it is heartbreaking... They like to make sure a landlord is OK about someone taking on a dog, otherwise it could end up back at the pound quicker than it left if the landlord found out and did'nt like it... I hope you manage to get your landlord to OK it and you get your 'forever' dog soon

There is the British School Muscat (where my son went) and the Royal Flight. They are both british curriculum and both good schools. I would apply right now if you want any hope of a place! The lady in BSM is Deirdre, she is the registrar. BSM is in Madinat Qaboos (MQ) but is quite pricey to live and smaller villas. I lived in Al Ansab in a huge stand alone villa for less than I pay for my 3 bed villa in Dubai. It is now and 20/25 drive from there to BSM on the back dual carriageway. A great place to live... With regards to shopping there is Qurum city centre, Muscat City Centre and Markus al Badja. Shops include Carrefour, Lulu, BHS, Next, Marks & Spencer (just one) and quite alot of the other chain shops. No debenhams I am afraid... They have the equivilent of Spinneys in a few locations called Al Fair. If I can help you further then you can mail me at amintoft at yahoo dot co dot uk. :)

This is true... maximum of 3 years from the dot stamp on the tyre wall. Although the tyre looks good the heat makes the tyre wall go hard and brittle, so more chance of a blow out! This is my DH business line.

Yes we pay 500. Be sure to pop by when you move in... with regards to the cleaning of the villa I cant really comment we had ours from new. Maybe I could start using your gardener as ours is becoming a bit slack!! Good luck and if you need anything else....

Alot of the people that live here are 'Emirates' and I am sure they were one of them... they usually just keep leasing the villas weather they are lived in or not in anticipation... There is one across the road from me empty for 18 months because of same reason.. perhaps Emirates have not renewed it this time. I know quite a few people here and none that I know of have had any probs. :-)

In the daytime (excluding Friday) the stream is slow but steady.... the evening is very sporradic and overnight I can't really tell you. We have the main bedroom which is on the front of the house and our son has the room next to us. We have NEVER even heard a hint of road noise overnight... When we are sitting in the garden yes you notice the odd car but does not bother us in the slightest... depends if you are looking for silence but I dont think you will get that anywhere... In general Layan is sooooo quiet and half the time you wonder where everyone is! :-)
