Thats right I did it for 3 years from Layan (5 mins from Ranches) and took me no longer than 25 mins.... you just have to bear in mind the traffic coming out of Ranches... I pass the queue out of there every morning and seems to be pretty bad.

My DH suffers from IBS. Today it's very controlled and he eats everything. He starts his morning with a fruit and vegetable juice, lunch consist of only home made food with lots of veggies, dinner is salad with a small meal. He introduced natural RAW fruits and veggies into his diet which he never did earlier. He eats everything under the sun :) and has no problem unless he eats the odd meal outside, but is not as bad as his past. A high fiber diet has helped him. Everyone is different so it's best to figure out what works for you. good to know he is better with it now.... thanks for reply

I would strongly suggest that you see a nutritional therapist. Everyone is different, with different causes or triggers and so to try a diet without having checked out the basics may be futile. My friend took a course of probiotics and digestive enzymes and is near normal again now, without any dietary changes. She used peppermint oil capsules to calm the cramps at the time. Good luck Thanks.. I am just wanting to try a different approach. I already take probiotics and peppermint capsules. I just get 'flare ups'... I already know I cant have lactose which has helped quite a bit.. I just know there must be other foods that 'set it off'... thanks for the reply.

Its now printed off and will give it a go... thank you very much for the reply its much appreciated. I know its quite a common thing to suffer with and people dont like to discuss for some reason. So thanks! edited by roysie on 05/02/2013

Hi.. I also live in Layan in a villa. Although the apartments and 2 bed villas have a garden area it communal so shared with others. You are also not allowed dogs in the apartments. You would have to get a 3 bed villa to get a private garden.. just thought I would point that out.

Yes it is the only Ikea... if you do not drive you would have to take a Taxi from the Marina straight up SZR and turning off on top of the bridge at Festival City.. very straight forward. It is def the best place for items that you listed or there is always Home Centre... they are all over the place, closest to you would be Mall of the Emirates. edited by roysie on 28/01/2013

You are speaking to the original Icelandic bank ICESAVE cash isa account holder who nearly lost all her cash isa savings when ICESAVE crashed in 2008.... There is some FSA regulations, can't remember off hand the details, which if the bank is covered by, means that cash up to a certain amount GBP50k(?) is guaranteed...or some such... Oh god.... glad you said the word 'nearly'! This is why I am nervous.... OK, going to do some research on max amounts etc... thanks SB.

We're with the four letter international, global, local bank ran from Jersey.....seems pretty safe. Which offshore accounts are you thinking of that are not safe? edited by Sugarbeach on 22/01/2013 edited by Sugarbeach on 22/01/2013 I just remember back that many people lost money due to saving this way... just wondered if that is a thing of the past and if anyone recommends any particular place/company.

A baby exploring her surroundings is hardly tormenting is it... You need to teach your baby not to pull the cats tail. I have 3 kids, 4 cats and 3 dogs. It's never been an issue cats are all rescues 2 of them still a little wild apart from a scratch here and there my kids are fine. A scratch will not kill your baby but it will teach her not to be so rough. Just about to say the same thing... my baby grew up with 2 dogs and 2 cats.... never ever an issue. In fact they are pretty protective of him now as an older child.

Can anyone recommend a jeweller to get a ring made from a design of my own. It's for a gift for my mother. Thanks Yes... I can recommend Passion Jewellers in the Gold & Diamond Park on SZR. They are directly infront of you as you walk in the main door opposite Gargash Car Rental.

I dont find them very friendly there. I go to chi nail spa over in motor city and there is also a nail spa at the golf club now. I would try them over T & T. Their prices have increased too I don't find it relaxing anymore, too many people gabbing loudly on their mobile phones even though there is a sign saying no mobiles. It reminds me of a production line and i am not surprised the staff look miserable considering the hours they work I dont go anymore because of all the above reasons. In my community (Layan 5 mins from AR) we have a lovely small Haven. They are great at their job, its very relaxing and a good price.

thank you - the hotel said 6 AED so good job I checked or the birthday card wouldn't arrive! postcards go for 6. Occasionally they weigh 8aed but to allow for a heavier card (embellishment or a photo inside) I always put 10 on... they always get there.

Not directly linked to question but I would like to add that if you go back to your home country for a holiday while being a resident here and hire a car you must use your UAE license. As the other poster put down that the home license (should but is not here) be surrendered while you hold a UAE license. If you use your home license and have an accident the insurance will be void. edited by roysie on 09/01/2013 edited by roysie on 09/01/2013
