Saw some lovely ones in a shop in the outlet mall on the Al Ain Road... Do not know what the shop is called but it is upstairs at the end and has some whacky weird bits in the window... sorry not much help but they are definately there!

Around 2.5 hours... it takes at least 30 mins to get out of Columbo (its only 90km!) We stay in the Elephant Bay Hotel over night when we go there... cheap and cheerful. <em>edited by roysie on 19/09/2012</em>

I am having a massive clear out and have loads of craft paper, vellums, embellishments etc and wondering where is the best place to sell them? My experience of dubizzle is that people just want things for free and as you know craft supplies aren't cheap. Where would you look for adverts for craft items on sale? The classifieds section on here seems to be full of nanny and maids ads! How much do you want for it all?

Hi, does anybody know where I can get my DS / DH Playstation 3 repaired ? The Mazaya Centre... just inside main door about 3/4 shops up on the right hand side is a small electronic shop. He repaired our WII so he might be able to sort it.

I would have been well peed off if i was the manager standing there are arguing with a customer expecting a drink to be replaced for freebecause a fly has flown in the bottle :\: It would have shown in my sarcastic and monotomous tone ! would have had to try very very hard not to just laugh If I had been around I would of given her the 2 dirhams..........

If the RTA are entitled to retain your UK licence why don't they ? Personally, I don't understand what right they have to keep it when they didn't issue it or pay for it and it is valid until you are 70 years old... If you surrender it to DVLA what happens when you return to the UK ? How do you get it back ? Actually... the card licenses do expire... take a look at the date on your UK license, you need to renew... but if you are living here then I guess it will expire anyway. <em>edited by roysie on 11/09/2012</em>

They have always sold these in Spinneys in MotorCity... have not seen recently, but then I have not looked if you what I mean. They are not cheap... 300aed I think. I live in Motor City, so I'll take a look later. I don't usually shop in there, the prices wind me up and you always end up buying so much as all the items are so tempting. I go in there for bread and milk and come out with 400 dirhams of stuff! I am the same... I only really go in there once in a blue moon, handy for some bits though. Hope you find the hammock.

The water is perfect here in Layan ;-) I use it for cooking and filling the kettle, always have done and no problems. Only use bottled water for drinking directly...

When we moved ours I just went down to the area by Lulu in Al Barsha and hired a lorry and 6 men... they did the rest.The strength of Ox's.... Just make sure you bargain and secure a price before starting.

Try Senokot... I had the same prob after a gyne op and this worked, but you just have to give it a bit of time to work (a few doses)... drink sugared water also. Hope it works, it's horrible.. :-(

So is all gripe water impossible to find out here or just the woodwards one? I wonder if there is any other type of gripe water that I may actually find here. Try the smaller chemists (not the chain ones) like the one in Arabian Ranches local centre and the one in Jebel Ali Gardens... they are the ones more likely to have it if at all...

I would really appreciate some help here please.... My DS is starting at English College (Safa 1).. can someone please give the 'best' way to get to it from Layan (near Ranches). Obviously I know where it is but wondered if anyone does it and knows the quickest route. Umm Sequeim road is shocking and I hope that there is an easier route. Spent years driving to JA on automatic pilot!! TIA

The passport applications from here are sent to Dusseldorf now and not back to the UK. If you go on the passport office site, you download the form from there and then yes DHL offer a service for you... its quite an expensive business all in all! I did my sons like this but we got my husbands while in the UK a few weeks ago by actually making an appointment and going to the passport office. Ended up being around half the price... hope this helps.

The Saturday morning organic veggie market begins again next month at DGC not sure if starts the first or second weekend of the month. There is one in Satwa... good to see but a word of warning. If you can then try to observe from your car. We watched from quite a distance, but still suffered from sore ringing ears for 3 or more hours afterwards. Louder with more inpact than you think... enjoy ;)

May I ask if you live in a villa in Bur Dubai? Its an area I have always wanted to live, just wondering how easy getting a decent sizable villa is... Thanks No-sorry a company apartment-a lovely big one at that-not sure there would be many villas around us but our apartment has much bigger rooms than many villas I have visited-huge laundry and wardrobes in every room and the halls-so no complaints. It is a wonderful area to live in-we are in the consulate area so it is very quiet traffic-wise at night too Sounds lovely, we have 2 dogs so have to have a villa.... we are happy where we live and have been here some years but always open to new places... thanks Wuffles

Then they are right what they say... If your new car comes with a 3 or 5 year warranty then you will have no worries unless its your fault the car needs work... ie brakes, tyres and servicing. You need to price up the service prices from the workshops before you buy. They will give you a whole breakdown with what is done on each service and how much each one is so that you can budget. Also price your tyres up as you will need to change them pretty regularly here. I bought a brand new Jeep Commander 2 years ago and it has been a pleasure...

No you can't get them from here, you will have to ask someone to grab in advance for you... you will need to make an appointment for the quick service but can only ring 14 days before. we have just made our appointment, they are so busy. Interesting mafmaf, thanks for posting. I'm not criticising the way you were dressing but there has been a lot of talk on here why people aren't dressing appropriately during Ramadan, is it ignorance, not caring etc etc. Did you not realise that you should have your shoulders covered or did you just decide not to worry about covering up regardless? I understand if you'd rather not answer, but when I see people not dressed in accordance to decency laws during Ramadan I often wonder why. I'm not saying I'm judging them, just curious as to their reasons. yeah true i am guilty with not caring at all,but i just wonder ist only during ramadan we cannot wear even a sleeveless or it goes even after ramadan?i wonder because the last time i was here was in 2009,everything seemed relaxed.they must have changed alot tho. This comment surely is a wind up... you are in a muslim country, cover your knees and shoulders at all times NOT just in Ramadan....
