DH is in Air-conditioning. Spoke to him and this is what he had to say. Central: It is where there is a big machine either on the roof top or a bit far away from the main building. what it does is that it chills water which is then piped into the house into an indoor unit which can be above the ceiling. Air is sucked through a cooling coil(through which the water flows) which blows into the room. This is how we get cold air. the water which is now a little warmer, goes back to the machine outside to be chilled again. Advantages: very low noise. Disadvantage: High DEWA Bills as 1 machine can cater to an entire villa or a group of villas(depending on tonnage of the chiller) and even if you need A/c in one room, you need to switch on the entire chiller. Package type: this is what Kaydee called a central system.Advantages: not as quiet as Central. Disadvantage: Lots of Duct work and need to have them cleaned (at least once every 2 years)as there is possibility of mold forming in the months that have high humidity. Also can get foul smell because of mold. These machines cater to entire villas or a few rooms at one time. So DEWA bills can be higher as you cannot switch off these machines unless you do not need a/c in all the rooms that it caters to. Split and windows is exactly as Kaydee mentioned. Advantages: switch on only when needed.Hence lower DEWA bills. Disadvantage: Loud and UGLY. Regarding which will cool better. It all depends on how much cooling you need and whether the A/c installed is suited (has the tonnage) for that capacity. On an average a room about 18-20 sq meters(with approx 3.2-3.5mtr) ceiling needs 1.5 tons of cooling capacity. Hope this helps.

Firstly, where is your company registered? If it is a freezone company then there is no ban in the first place. Secondly even if it is not a freezone company, and you may get an automatic ban because you have not completed 2 years of employment, you plan to come on your husbands visa. This means your 6 month ban is not applicable as your visa is being issued by the Immigration department and does not need approval from the Labour department. Win-win for you.

If you have an expensive suit, then it is better to go to the really experienced Tailors. We always use Parmar Tailors. They have a store in the Almas Towers in JLT besides the one in Bur Dubai. They have been in this business since 1956 in Dubai. Prices are a little bit on the higher side, but the professionalism and the expertise in the finished product is just amazing. Infact they have some very high end fabrics on special offer. DH got a suit made in one of those fabrics for about Dh 2000/- Their telephone no is 800 TAILORS (with an 's').
