I guess it depends what it is (if its something heavy,a cardboard box may not be strong enough) but I dont see why not. I have seen loads of card board boxes at the baggage claim. I would probably ask the company/airline you are sending it with.

My house too is dusty again by the next day, but then I have pets going in and out all the time so the door's are regularly opened. Also, we are behind Arabian Ranches, so behind us is nothing but pure dusty desert. The windows and doors dont seem to keep the dust out very well. I guess it depends on where you live, in town or on the outskirts like sky DSO. In theory an apartment will stay dust free longer than a villa. You might want to check the windows if they are not forming a seal, you can buy some sealing tape in Ace. As for the filters, I have cleaned them myself on a few occasions as I feel silly calling in the maintainence guys to do it. I would ask at the reception in your building.

I wouldnt recommend it to be honest, chances are the 'breeders' dont know the first thing about good breeding and are only in it for the money. I could be wrong, but I dont think there are any registered/legal breeders in Dubai. The general response to most people looking for a pedigree dog is...try K9 friends, they have many dogs looking for homes, and may even have a boxer on their list.

I saw a similar thing in Geant, one dodgy looking man with his camera phone. He blatently took a picture of a little girl sitting in the shopping trolley, and the maid just watched. It made me feel physically sick. I gave him an evil look and then I started following him, he reunited with his equally dodgy looking friend (who no doubt was also taking pictures and they both left. This was on my mind all day, and in hindsight I really wish I had let security know.

The beach we always camp on is not far from dibba port, so there is a small fishing village near by and also the Golden tulip hotel. There are a few small supermarkets along the way. The city/town/village center is about a 10 minute drive from the beach.

Sorry to hear about your boy's injuries :( Have a look at this website, it might put your mind at ease. Unfortunately there is quite a long healing process/cage rest but surgery does sound like the best option. http://dogs.about.com/od/caninediseases/p/cruciate.htm

Sorry I can't answer your questions, but just wanted to say, isn't it up to the landlord to make these renovations? Might be worth asking him, will save you having to pay for the beautification of someone else house.

You can camp on Dibba beach which is about 2 hours away, however you will be passing through Oman territory, so you will have to bring your passport. As for facilities, I dont think there are any beach camping spots that toilets etc.

Yes, you can share a PO box, not sure if its technically legal, but I share one with my best friend and OH. Thats true, since Facebook, emails and text messages, no one ever write letters anymore, all I get in my PO box is bills :(

As far as I know you can only get a private PO box which will cost you 250dhs a year. The problem is there seems to be a shortage of boxes in prime locations (I was at the post office the other day and a lady was not impressed when they told her they had a box in Deira for her) The only other option is to use your company's PO box or DH's company PO box. I dont live on the Palm so Im not sure exactly which boxes you are talking about, but if they are blue and white and have the Dubai postal autority logo on them then they are PO boxes. If not then they are most likely private boxes for internal use.

It could be a urinary tract infection, or crystals or similar....I would have that ruled out by the vet first. If thats all clear then there could be other things you could try such as changing the type of litter, or the location of the litter box. HTH

Also, the male could start spraying now as he will want to mark his terretory (I'm not saying he will for sure, but there is a chance) If your friend gets him castrated now, then the chances of spraying will be reduced, and it definitly wont smell as strong) Also as kristina_rmnv mentioned, he may harrass the female which in turn could make her hate him ;)

Unfortunately they dont have a website.... From the meadows get onto SZR, exit at Al Manara street (I think its exit 42) and head towards beach road. Turn right onto beach road. Pass the Pizza hut, and take a right at the next traffic lights. Its a double storey pink villa on the right hand side. HTH

I would recommend the polo club vet to be honest. I find them cheaper than most of the other vets, plus, if you are in the Ranches its the most logical option. You could always call around and see what all the vets charge, but most are the same, give or take a few dhs. HTH

He doesnt need the registration to be relocated. Usually the registration comes with the vaccination, so if he is due for vaccination then he will automatically get the registration with that.

Hi, I live in Layan, and I love it here, but to be honest many people are moving out because the developer has promised things that just arent happening such as the supermarket which is now over a year late. People are just fed up with the lies from the developer and its starting to look like a ghost town. There is a pool and a free Gym, as well as a ladies salon and a dry cleaners that are operational. Taxi's now finally know Layan community so its easy to get taxi's. Never taken a taxi from here to Jumeirah, but I guess it would be in the region of 80dhs each way.

Thank you. I wonder if any of them have Brits as instructors? I know there used to be a European lady instructer, but I'm not sure if she is still around. I would say the driving schools here are all the same, they don't really teach you to drive, just how to pass the test. The blind leading the blind really!

If you live in one of the gated communities, then the developer is responsible for collecting the garden waste, however if you dont, then I dont really know....A friend of mine was fined after the gardener piled up huge branches and other garden waste by the bin in Umm suqeem. Saying that though, I still see garden waste next to almost every bin in Umm Suqeem and jumeirah, because there just are no other options.... Even if you call the municipality, they wont give you a straight answer, so I would just continue putting it by the bins.

I guess it depends what your business would involve? I have just recently set up a business using virtuzone, its not cheap, but its the cheapest option, and the most hassle free as they do everything for you. For this you wont need a local partner, or start up capital. The license comes with visa's so once the company is set up, you can move onto your own visa. (until now I have been under my dad's sponsorship and so my visa says "student" even though I havent been a student for 10 years, anyways, I am having to move onto my own visa once th license is through as 'students' re not allowed to work) It really is very straight forward, but as I said it depends on what your business is, as it may not be financially worth it.

We ght our shade sail at the Garden center on SZR and got the guys from OH's company to instal/erect/hang it. I'm sure if you ask at the garden center they can recommend someone to do that if they dont do it themselves. Also try Ace hardware.

How does the microchip actually work then? If it can't be scanned by any scanner and link it to the owners?. A microchip is just a 15 digit number that is unique to your pet. This number is then noted in the pets vaccination book, in the vets records and also with the Dubai municipality. If someone has then found your cat they can get the chip scanned at any vets to get the number, and they will then have to call around all the vets or municipality to find the owners contact details. Not a brilliant system, but its better than nothing. There is a website that was trying to start up a central database type thing, but I dont know if that took off. I'm sure you've probably tried everything, but have you spoken to the neigbours and asked them to keep an eye out? Maids and Gardeners in the area? Usually a reward helps too. I would also call all the vets and give them the details. I really hope Leo comes home soon, its an awful feeling not knowing where he is or what he's doing :(

The best thing to do is put the bowl of biscuits into a shallow dish of water....that way the ants can't get to it and soon lose interest. Also, try to find where the ants are coming from and spray a little ant killer at the source to make sure they stay out.

Or the crazy woman in the ranches with a toddler on the back of her bike (no helmet) and two large dogs on leashes in her hand? I've seen her too, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought she was mad. The first time I saw her her LO was only a few months old, and she only had the one dog.

If he is a smoker, maybe an engraved zippo lighter. For my friends 40th I had a quirky glass engraved (it was a beer glass with 3 handles) In fact you can get pretty much anything engraved at the little kiosk outside Hyper Panda in festival city. If he is into outdoorsy things, maybe the offroad Dubai book or even an adventure experience from www.dreamdays.ae.

yes, it was yellow hat! The annoying thing is I still need a handsfree kit for my car and now I refuse to buy one from them (they do have one that is compatible with any car, but I wanted an integrated system) Any suggestions on where else to get a bluetooth handsfree car kit? DubaiCat, I agree, it really can't be that difficult!
