Have you tried all the other vets to see if they have the chip registered? Someone must have records of it somewhere?

I would also say Ghantoot. Saying that I have seen a few dogs at the beach next to the Jebal Ali hotel, I dont think they are officially allowed there, but there are no signs saying otherwise. (Its very busy on weekends, so I would avoid it then)

I would definitly advise against buying a puppy for the following reasons: 1. They are usually not the best quality and can suffer some major congenital health issues as they grow older. 2. Most puppies that end up here are from puppy mills. 3. There are so many lovely puppies needing homes with K9 friends, DARC, friends of animals, the list is endless. Why breed or buy while shelter dogs die?

I would give them to Aisha at DARC. You can email her [email protected]. K9 used to take boxes like that and sell them to raise money for their dogs, however they are not so easy to get hold of (k9 friends I mean, they hardly ever answer the phone)

Try www.pawspetplanet.com They have a huge facility in DIP and they dog one on one training, or private training if you prefer. They also do doggy daycare which is great for socialising.

Different hair react differently to different treatments. As I said I have been going to reflections and have always been happy with the results (not so much with the price) Its 2500dhs for the first treatment, or if you have left it more than the recommended time) and 1800dhs everytime you have the roots done. Before reflections i tried a salon in the Jumeirah beach club and I was not so impressed with the results so I never went back, but they were one of the first to do it here. I have seen many people comment about how happy they are with the results of Keratin, but for me it just didnt give the desired results. I can highly recommend Yuko from my point of view. (before making the booking for Yuko, they will ask you to come in so they can see your hair and test the product on a small strand) And yes, Reflections is an all round salon, not just for hair.

I have had my hair straightened at Reflections for the past 6 years and always been happy with the results. I recently deceided to have Keratin treatment as its cheaper and quicker, but I am very disappointed with the results :( I would definitly recommend reflections or Yuko.

I second Princess I's recommendation, there are so many things you can do with your own photo's these days, print on canvas, or they can make several photo's into a collage for you....endless possibilities. As for the screen, it depends what you want to spend on it, I have seen them at dragon mart quite cheap, or you an go to marina furniture and buy a solid wood screen but it will cost you a bit more. You could always get a cheap one and put your personl touch to it (with pictures or other arty creations :)

There are people who claim that its so safe, they dont lock their homes at night or some leave their car running when they go inside a store. Such people will probably be stung because while violent crime is very rare, petty theft is quite common . There are even gangs who break into locked cars and tow them away, and are caught from time to time... Very true....I have been here for 26 years and it DID used to be safe to leave your house unlocked, or your car running outside a shop, but I have found out the hard way that it's no longer the case here....

My OH has gout and has suffered with it since he was 18....He takes various medications on a daily basis, but I would recommend a doctor prescribes them for you as the dosage of course varies. He has seen countless doctors here for it, but the only one who was able to come up with some pain releif for him was a dortor at the Bone and joint center. He still has attacks, but they are much milder now, and not as frequent. I really feel for you, over the last 13 years I've seen him suffer some of the most excruciating attacks.

The mum's are pretty friendy too, and quite grateful for the help in caring for the kittens. One lot of kittens is currently at Energetic panacea vets, however they need to be moved by tomorrow so we are still desperately looking for a temporary foster home for them.... To be honest thats what I would have done.... The reason she picked them all up was because she was going to give a home to one of them, but when it came to it, she felt bad leaving the other 3 behind....When the guys from the garage saw her putting them in the car they came over and told her there was another mum with 5 kittens :( One of the mums is already at the vets to be spayed soon, but the other one's kittens are still too young. The mums will be put back where they came from, but it would be nice to find homes for the kittens which I know wont be easy!

I know k9 friends used to tattoo the inside the ear of female dogs that had been spayed, maybe feline friends do a similar thing? Can you see what the tatoo says? Tatoo's have been phased out because the microchip is more reliable and permanent, so I dont think you will be able to trace the owner through the tattoo.

A microchip doesnt actually carry any information other than the 15 digit microchip number which is unique to your pet. If the cat is fully vaccinated, then your vet should be able to issue the new municipality tag with your details. This will then get sent to the municipality who "in theory" have the main database with all te chip numbers. (This means if someone has found a anmal they should be able to call the municipality and get in touch with the owner that way, but the municipality are not always that helpful) There is also a website where you can register the microchip for a small fee. I can find out the address for you if you like.

There is a company that will come to you and change the battery at the house, but I dont remember thier name. Alternatively if you are able to start the car, you can drive down to the petrol station next to the garden center on Sheikh Zayed road, and they will change it then and there. Also, I believe AAA garage in Al quoz are able to come to you with a new battery. HTH

How old was your dog when she was spayed? Spaying can greatly reduce the chances of mammary cancer, so if she was done quite late it could be that the tumour was already there when she was spayed, but it was too small to be noticed. I personally think the vets at Vetcare are brilliant, and very caring. I would definitly get the tests done sooner rather than later.

I have done a few and although there are no official rules, here are a few tips and warnings;) 1. Dont display things like jewelery openly, it will go missing. 2. Put out one shoe of a pair and if someone shows interest, give them the other one. 3. If you advertise it on the supermarket notice boards, don't put your phone number or you will be getting calls all hours of the day and night. Also, if you give your location, be prepard to have people showing up all hours of the day and night. 4. Be prepared for people to haggle, even if its over 1DH. 5. Even if you say it starts at 8, people will be waiting outside from 7am, sometimes even ringing the doorbell. 6. When you do eventually open the gates, stand back...you WILL be met with a stampede! 7. If you have large items of furniture or electronics to sell, I would put them on Dubizzle, you are more likely to get what they are worth that way. What I used to do is put up a garage sale sign with arrows leading to the house on the morning of the sale. There are many people who drive round on Fridays out looking for garage sales. Hopefully this doesnt put you off ;)

Well Im begining to wonder if in the last 10 years she taken advantage of my trust, over the years small things have gone missing, but this is the first time something substantial of mine has gone missing; I've always said to myself 'no way was it her, she has too much to lose if she was found out' (All the jobs with friends of mine, her job with me, and she was living in the SQ at my dad's house at the time) She also used to work for my neighbour who lost a ring that had huge sentimental value (At the time my maid brought her friend to help clean, so I'm not saying it was her) Needless to say she doesnt work there anymore. My dad also had a few things go missing over the years, some were "break-in's", others were just random things missing such as brand new bedsheets still in the wrapper. We just put it down to our own errors, misplacing things etc I dont intend to ruin her reputation, especially as I cant prove it, but as I said before, no one else has access to this house and I know I would not have taken such a large amount without noting it. (Besides, I haven't splurged on anything in a while) I just can't shake this bad feeling about her now.

Yes, she finally came in yesterday! I told her that there was some money missing from this particular envelope (holding the envelope in a clear plastic bag in front of me) and if she knew anyting about it. She said she saw the envelope (with the money in it) it was on the shelf next to the safe, she she moved it to dust under it and then put it back! I think she left out the fact that she helped herself to 4500dhs!!! I can't prove anything, but I am even more annoyed now, as she looked so guilty. As I said she has worked for me for 10 years and when she is genuinly surprised/shocked by something I can tell, but her reaction yesterday was a bit suspiscious. I can't trust her anymore so I'm going to have to tell her to give her key back, and I will let the other people (who I know she works for) know as well. Her cleaning is useless anyway! Thanks for all your advice.
