Try Ace hardware on SZR or Fesitval city. There is also a place called Speedex next to Oasis mall on SZR. They definitly have them.

That seems to be the first think that goes on any hoover! I have two perfectly good hoovers, but neither of the have hoses, so I have bought a third (A better one, hoping it will last longer!) The best thing to do would be to find out who the moulinex agent is in Dubai and ask them if they have them in stock, or if they can order them. Hope this helps

Its entirely up to you if you want to give him something extra for Eid. Like CCDXB said, if he deserves it. I usually don't give the gardener an Eid tip (as he is useless) but I do give the maid a christmas tip.

Definitly, the more I think about it, the more I realise I just have to cut my losses and move on...lesson learned. I will definitly pull her up on it, I want to see her reaction, and I will most likely ask her not to come back. I know she hasn't left the country as she only just got back from leave, and I saw her the other day...if she doesn't come to me, I will go to her, I know where she lives :)

I know one who actually sponsored her got fined as he let her work in other places. And one who employed and did not sponsor. They both got fined not deported. I believe there is a hotline as well where people can report others. It really gets on my nerves as some of us actually pay like 7 k to sponsor someone and people are encouraging them to work illegally.... I definitly see your point, but when she started working for me it was the norm, even though it was illegal, it was never really enforced. Its only been in the last few years that they are really cracking down on it. Her sponsor knows she works for other people, but I bet he doesnt know she's a thief!

I know, its a lot of money to have in the house, but it was due to go out for the rent.....I really feel so stupid, but more disappointed that she would steal. She has worked for me for 10 years and I assumed there was some kind of trust there. I have always treated her well, and helped her out when ever I could. She even asked to borrow 3000dhs last year which I gave her and she worked it off, so if she needed the money, she knows she could just ask! Its frustrating to know there is nothing I can do. I will see how tomorrow goes, maybe her conscience will get the better of her and I wont need to take it any further, other than to send her packing!

And what would be the consequence for her? Maybe thats a point I can bring up with her. She also works for 3 other people I know and lives with one of them. Needless to say she would be losing part time jobs and her home.

Yes, this is my other problem, I dont sponsor her, she just works for me part time, and she has done for 10 years, which is why I think she thinks/hopes/knows she can get away with it. Because of this very reason I dont want to involve the police, in an ideal world, she would confess, and give me the money back, which will be easier for all involved. (After which of course she will never enter this house again) Out of interest, does anyone know what the fine/penalty is for having an maid work for you illegally?

There is an incinerator, however I dont think you can just turn up there. You can try to call Trashco, depending what it is, they should be able to collect it from you. HTH

Wow, with the current rent prices and a budget of 250K the world is your oyster! Jumeirah/Umm Suqeem has some lovely villa's within budget, most compounds have a shared pool, and pretty much everything you needs in in Jumeirah/umm suqeem or not too far from it. Then there is Al Barsha which has really grown in the past few years. There are numerous great communities, such as 'The Villa', Arabian Ranches, Al Layan/Al Waha, Falcon city and Dubai Silicon Oasis, however they are a little further out, and some of them dont have any facilities. If I had the choice, I would definitly be looking for a villa rather than an apartment, especially with children. During the cooler months there is nothing like having a garden for BBQ's etc. Good luck with the move :) Hope this helps.

I think your best bet would be Desco, they have a Branche next to Media one in Media city, and another one somewhere, but I can't remember where I saw it. Desco had adverts on the Radio, and by the sounds of it they do everything!

Instead of a cake, why dont you go to Sugar Daddy's or Kitsh cupcakes and get a giant cupcake? They are to die for, my favorite is the red velvet......I think i've just put on a kilo just thinking about it! They do personalize it too, so you can go in and tell them what you want. http://www.kitschconcept.com/ (page 4)

I feel the same....(although we have been together almost 13 years, we are not married) Its been going on for a while now. Initially I tried to make more of an effort, but you quickly lose interrest when its not reciprocated, now there is 2 of us uninteressted in this relationship, doesnt make for a happy relationship! We have spoken about it and both agreed to make more of an effort, after all it does take two to tango. It went well for a little while, but now we are back at square one....I'm out of idea's too!

That really is beyond shocking! How can a responsible dog owner literally call while she is on her way to the airport??? and not leave enough food? What if you were away? Unfortunately I dont think you will be able to find a place in kennels at such short notice. I would definitly get in touch with her and tell her you have been put in a difficult situation and you cannont be responsible for them until she returns. I get the impression money is the issue for her which is why she has asked you to lok after them for free rather than doing the right thing and booking them into kennels or with a pet sitter. If you do board them, she might be reluctant to reimburse you...It wont be cheap to board 2 dogs for a month. A very tricky situation as of course you want whats best for them. I dont think the municipality will help as the dogs are on private property, and not in any danger, or a danger to anyone. What a horrible woman...makes me mad!

The question is WHY would they use longlife milk? Its not like fresh milk is expensive here, and I would imagine with the amount of frappachinolattemachiatto's they turn out in a day, fresh milk doesn't get a chance to go off!

I only did the diet, but as I worked at a vets, I had regular blood tests done to monitor the kidneys and they seemed quite stable so there was no need for anything additional.

She can buy the fluids from a human pharmacy, its about 8dhs for 500ml. Admittedly the special food is more expensive, but she will only need a small amout per day, so a bag should last about a month. (works out about 3-5dhs a day. :) I fully sympathize as my was diagnosed with renal failure when she was 9, she had regular blood checks, and was on a renal diet, but eventually died at the age of 12 :(

I would definitly give it a go, then if she does get progressivly worse, she will know she has done what she can. Unfortunately kidney damage doesnt always show up in blood tests untill they are more that 75% damaged, and once the damage is done, there is no going back. These days though there are plenty of kidney support foods for cats, and together with the fluids, I dont see why she shouldnt lead a normal life. Thanks-won't they still fail though-just take a bit longer? Yes, they will still fail, but the fluids will help flush the toxins from the body. The SC fluids are not really going to uncomfortably prolong her life, but it will help her be more comfortable. There will come a point when even the fluids dont help, and she will have to make that terrible decision, but until then...its worth a try :) edited by Sabrina H on 13/07/2011

Dubai Library store is SZR, just past Nissan if you are heading from AUH to Dubai direction. It's easily missed so you need to stay in the right lane. Its next to a golf shop. I've made a few shell collages before, and I always use Bison glue which you can get in ACE hardware, comes in a green tube. For the mirror part you could use tile glue which is also available in ACE. HTH

When this has happened to us we have been told that the filters are dirty and need cleaning. The engine/pump is working so hard it is freezing over which is causing the leak. Should be as simple as cleaning the filters. It is possible if the AC is on 24/7 that some ice has formed, which is what is leaking. You can try turning it off for a few hours while you are out and it may be Ok. Also make sure the filters are clean and there is no blockage. You might need to get the professionals in for a complete service... We usually get ours serviced just before the summer as they have been off all winter.

I have always been happy with the results of Yuko, but to be honest, for medium length hair it costs 2500dhs for the first time, then 1800dhs for every repeat visit. Its recommended to do it every 8 months, but I have always left it 10-12 months by which time my hair gets really unbearable. I have never had Keratin treatment, so I can't compare the two, but with Yuko I am able to let my hair dry naturally and its always straight and smooth. After the treatment you cant wash your hair for 2-3 days, and you can't tie it back or put it behind your ears for the same time. Once the 3 days are over, life is good, its literally 'wash and go' :) The problem I have with yuko is that it costs me (lets say) 1800dhs a year and the whole process takes 5 hours, whereas Keratin (especially with the Cobone deals) is much cheaper, and faster, even though it only lasts half as long as Yuko. I have just bought the voucher, so I hope I am as happy with the results as I have been with Yuko.

Generally dogs should not throw up after vaccinations, they may feel a little off colour for a day or so, but shouldnt vomit. I would also say it has something to do with the washing up liquid. If its just white foam, then its probably nothing to worry about. Hope they feel better soon :)
