My little boy had it really bad and the heat and being in the water o much didn't help. It jut seemed to get worse and worse. I eventually took him o a dermatologist who recommended removing the worst ones but he got very distressed and I couldn't put him through it. I saw a different dermatologist who offered 2 options one was the removal but I told him I'd not go through that again, the other was aldara cream. I took the aldara cream option. I wished I had used it as soon as he caught it because it was amazing. Within 2 weeks of using the cream he was clear with no scarring. Aldara is super expensive but it was covered on our insurance. When my little girl caught it I used the cream straightaway and he too was clear in a few weds. The feling in the uk s to eave and let it run it's course but when it gets so sore and painful I think the cream route is the way to go. My little boy had it really really bad. Thanks that's really helpful. My Son only has the early signs so I'll see if I can find the Aldara cream. Would be interested to know what 'super expensive' is though as I'm not sure our insurance will cover it!

We get the odd monster but I think if it's more than that, you should get pest control company to check it out for you. It's more to do with the environment in which we live than hygiene. Not been here long ourselves and only in villa for couple of months soon expert tho. LOL 'the odd monster'.....as long as that's the only monster I get I could probably handle it! I seem to have somehow posted this question twice so sorry for that but thanks for your feedback which has now reassured me!

Yes it is normal. Make sure to open the taps everyday for a minute in every bathroom as they tend to come from the drains if there is no water in the trap.flusf the toilets daily if not in use. We always get the odd one in the house . We had a really bad infestation once back from vacation they came from the drain as there was no water in the U traps. Just awful. Somehow I've managed to post this question twice?! Thanks - that's put my mind at rest and I will take your advice

Thanks again and BTW I don't think it has to be an open wound to catch it as my step daughter and nephew (where I think it originated from) have not had open wounds. A virus is a virus and as we know, no way of getting rid, unless I guess it's ready. It's very reassuring to hear we're not the only one's though so thanks!

My son had it and it lasted quite a few months. It's a viral infection and you should just leave it, their body will eventually fight it off and it will go. Thanks again all of you. I believe that you should just leave it which is fine but I really don't want it to spread over his body or even to other people - swimming teacher and other kids! I guess there's nothing to do, just keep an eye on it?

Hi Both my daughters had it and at that time i had them removed/burnt. It seemed a painful treatment for a child. I have also been told by a GP that it is also ok to leave and they will drop off. Thanks for that. My Son has caught it from my step daughter and nephew - its a real catcher. He's in the very early stages and is only 4 so I wouldn't burn them off but would be interested to hear about anybody who has given any treatment to younger children and if it was successful or whether I should just leave it, but I don't want it to spread. He's only showing about 6 spots!

Is there an easy to do up style that I could do at home that would not leave kinks in my hair when I let it down, I'm too old for a ponytail anyway and twist knot make kinks that don't drop out for ages and if I leave my hair loose in this humdiity I very soon look like an electrocuted cat. My hair is shoulder length straight and fine Any suggestions? tia Love this post - made me laugh as I'm in the same boat and also look like an electrocuted cat!

Hiya I arrived into Dubai 2 weeks ago and my Son is starting in FS2 in September so not the same boat as you but similar. His teacher/class hasn't been allocated yet either and I think it's next week they will email us to notify us. I wouldn't mind meeting other Mums in my situation but I guess at least our kids are both in FS. I also currently know noone but hoping that will change my school starts. Happy chatting with you but like I say my Son is the year above?

My situation was that my 4 yr old was traumatized after his 1st and 2nd days at the E Sports holiday camp, so I drove around looking at alternatives for the rest of that week. The day at E Sports is from 8am to 1.45pm, they actually sent me back home when I tried to pick up my child earlier. I didn't like that it was mostly staffed by indifferent teenagers, about a max of 6 adult teachers/ sports coaches for around 60 kids. Blossom Nursery is a nice set up and they are very eager to welcome new kids. I eventually chose My Gym as I really like their staff and how they engage with children. Also I didn't need to put my child for a full day. Hi - Thanks for this. My Son has just spent 2 days at E Sports but I'm now thinking of not sending him back. A much older boy snatched something out of my Sons hand and never gave it back so my Son was very upset when I picked him up. He's quite a tough guy and I've never seen him like this in all the 2 years he spent in nursery. I guess my point here is that I'm not comfortable with him being able to mix with much older kids (10/13years). I's also not keen on spending the entire session in one sports hall. I've called Blossom and they seem good and more good appropriate and now going to call My Gym. How is your 4 year old getting on now Apricot?

Well, I got no responses so I decided to take matters into my own hands and go and check out all the gyms for myself. I'll report back to you ladies in case someone is interested in knowing what each gym offers. First gym I went to was Fitness First. I called and scheduled an appointment with one of their consultants. Here is what I found out: - Fitness First at Motor City is very spacious and has plenty of places for parking, unlike the DIFC gym that I have visited in the past. It is not a platinum gym, but personally I don't think it makes a difference really.. - There are 2 fitness studios. One is dedicated for cardio classes, such as: Body Pump, Zumba, etc. The other is for Mind and Body Balance: Yoga, Pilates, etc. - For those interested in Cycling/Spinning there is a big area for classes. You can also go cycle there on your own and use the big screen to simulate a ride through a certain country (i.e. Switzerland) - or you could plug your ipod/iphone in and listen to your own music if no one's there. - There is a TRX section which I found very interesting. They also run classes there where you can have personal trainers teach you how to train. You use your own body weight to perform various exercises. It looked challenging but quite fun! - They have a sauna and shower room too. - Excellent view of the autodrome race tracks (if you're interested). The gym is new and clean and wasn't crowded at ALL when I went there. The prices...oh well, its expensive. There best deal seem to be for 12-18 months. They also told me there is a charge for startup fees, charge for Admin fees and then a charge for personal training session when you start off (3x). Add to that the annual fees. My advice is that you should try joining as a couple as it means you get better rates. Also, ask them to waive the fees - as the annual payment is already BIG. In addition, you might want to ask them if they offer you a special rate for your work/your hubby's work. Basically, don't settle immediately to the price they give you. They gave me a much better rate, but I still want to do my tour of the other gyms before I make a final decision. Will report back. Cheers, CD Hi CD I moved to the Ranches 2 weeks ago and was wondering the same question! I'm more interested in classes as I get totally bored with the gym. I really appreciate your feedback on this so thanks very much. I don't even know where these places are other then MC so it's really helpful. All the best

We just bought some at ACE Hardware in Festival City. Welcome to Dubai! Thanks! Thank you very much, how very kind you went to the trouble of calling! I popped out earlier to ACE and got them there. Thanks though - not sure people are that fussed about smoke alarms in this country for some reason!

My hubby always takes our boys to a barber in Satwa. They are great and make a fuss of the boys - its the best haircut any of them have had anywhere and they 4 of them are done (including head massage and neck shave for DH) for 100Dhs including substantial tip. I can get the details if you're interested. Thanks all - yes please the info for the barber in Satwa would be great thanks

Thanks smilies for your reply. I'm not sure if they are what you're saying but perhaps so I will take a further look at them. Either way you've confirmed my suspicions that I should be keeping my dry opened food in sealed units. I'm just not sure grain mites would be just hanging around my work tops without food being present but maybe - will start further research! Thanks
