Hi, sorry didn't mean to highjack ur thread but we vacated a beautiful cozy single level villa in Jumeirah 2. We put in a new kitchen and all the bathrooms and ceilings are new. Unfortunately we had to move back to the states and have vacated our villa after living their for only a year. My gardener told me its still available and it makes me sad that no one has moved in yet! It has a beautiful view of the burj khalifa. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Please leave ur email so I can give u the contact info/address.

Al Seef tower next to Tamani hotel has really spacious apartments with maids rooms and storage. I had a friend who lived there and she loved it. I know that the 3 bedrooms have a living room and family room but they are quite expensive. Check them out and see what you think. :)

Hello ladies, I had registered my daughter for JAPS when she was a baby and was offered a spot for FS1 this year. They told us they would not reveal the new location until they offer spots after assessment. Then we were told our daughter got in BUT they still did not want to reveal the new location but asked for a 2000 dirham deposit to secure a spot. I found it strange that they kept changing their minds so we chose another school instead.

I highly recommend Cinnamon lakeside. They have a nice pool and the service there is great. If you love Thai food, you must try Royal Thai. The service and food was better than any Thai food i've had in Dubai and it was half the price. :)

Hi Wickedangel. They have 8kg condensed dryers at LG in Dubai mall. We just purchased a vented dryer from there. It was a display so we got a nice discount. They just got a bunch of digital machines which are much higher priced. Ask for the older model.

Another top American school is GEMS Dubai American Academy. Have you contacted them? There is also Universal school of Dubai (USD) and Collegiate American school which is located in Jumeirah. I have a friend whose daughter is at Collegiate American School and she is happy with her choice.

=( Our plan was to eventually move to GC and have our LO's in JAPS. However, we found an amazing villa in jumeirah 2 (just finished some renovations) and I'm thinking of having my LO in JESS AR. I am so confused.I dont know if I want to live in the heart of Jumeirah and enjoy being close to everything. Spending time going on school runs, etc. etc. OR should I move to the quiet suburbs in GC and have our LO's in a school nearby? It's so frustrating and hard to decide!!!!!! I love GC so much but every time I go there, i just feel like its so far. I

Hi Ladies, There is no chance for LO to get into JESS jumeirah. They said they will make note that we would like to transfer there but I don't think it will happen. JAPS is going to have a secondary school and I am aware of the 25k debenture. I guess I have to go ahead and pay the deposit to secure a spot. I hope we find out where the location is soon. =/

Thank you ladies for all your input. I have always loved JAPS and planned to keep my LO in nursery for FS1. Issue is that we were offered a spot but have no idea where they are relocating to and only have a few days left to make a decision. I know that people say the school is outdated but now they will have all new facilities. We live in Jumeirah and have also been offered a spot in JESS AR. Is that going to be a terrible commute? Is it crazy of me to secure a spot in both schools until I find out where JAPS is located!? I'm new to all of this =(

Japan is a dream! I have gone there twice with DH. In Tokyo- I recommend the Mercure hotel and Hotel mume in Kyoto (such a magical place) I really miss Japan and would love to go back soon. The town with the deer is called Nara and you can plan to visit there while you are in Kyoto. We stayed in 3 different hotels in Tokyo and thought Mercure and citadines were the best. I wouldn't recommend the best western in Shinjuku because it's in kabukiicho, which is the red light district. :) If you love sushi and don't mind waiting in line, you can try Sushi-Dai. It can be touristy but the sushi is so fresh and just melts in your mouth :) It's located at the main fish market. Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

Thank you pish posh for your response. Its nice to hear that you are happy living there. We are aware of the Emicool bill and service fee. I am just worried about the roundabout! How long does it usually take you to get to Marina from The Green Community? Is the traffic in the roundabout horrible during the afternoon as well?

Thanks ladies for all your advice. I feel so much better now. When I saw my doctor today she said its highly unlikely that I will go into labor on my due date and since my baby seems on the bigger side and my cervix is soft but still thick, the chance of a normal delivery isnt very high. I am determined to have a natural birth and will continue to be positive and patient! :)

Hello ladies. This is my 2nd baby. I had a emergency C section for my first and never went into labor. I was planning to have a VBAC for this one and was looking forward to the experience. My due date is in a few days and my doctor said the baby's head is still free floating above my pelvis. Her head is turned and facing the right way but she won't come down. I have been very active during this pregnancy and just feel so overwhelmed right now. My doctor will give me 10 days after my due date and then I will have c section. My mom arrives on my due date and is only here for 2 weeks. =( I want to try and avoid having a c section because I know that this is my last chance for a normal delivery. I am doing a lot of walking. Is there anyone that went through this? Do I have any chance of the baby coming down?!

My iphone is no longer working and I don't know how long I can go without one. Just trying to decide if there are any places here that sell unused unlocked ones that arent super expensive. I dont mind paying up to 1200 AED. I found some on Dubizzle but i'm not sure if I can trust the sellers? I have insurance in the US but after paying the deductible/unlocking fee/ and having it shipped here it will cost almost 250. It will also take some time as I would have to make my younger brother do all all this for me which will turn into a big headache. Please let me know where the best place is here to get an iphone4s!

Hi Special I went to Lily Beach last month with DH and a toddler and had such an amazing time. The service was excellent and it is a very family friendly resort. They have snorkeling gear and some watersport equipment included in the package. You can also choose from 2 free excurions during your stay. DH is very picky and tends to get super bored easily on holiday but he had even more fun than me. There is 1 big restaurant open for buffet and 2 other restaurants that have a la carte lunch menu all included. The quality is excellent for all inclusive. I was there for 7 days and it definitely wasn't enough!!!!

We have been to Tokyo quite a few times. I have stayed at lots of different hotels and I recommend Citadines and Hotel Mercure. Citadines rooms are spacious and located in Shinjuku. You just have to walk 5-7 minutes to get to the busy area. They have small kitchens in their rooms which is nice when you have children. Hotel Mercure is definitely a hidden gem located in Ginza. I wasnt sure if we would like it since it was in the more upscale area but it ended up being our favorite hotel. It's right off of the main street with all the nice shops and it's such a lovely place during the weekend as they close the road off for the public. Good luck!

nicedaynat: Thanks for the advice. I've already contacted them and put our names on the waiting list but I doubt that will make a difference. The person I spoke to said there are over 100 names on the list! So our rent has increased 40k for next year if we decide to stay in our villa. The contract ends on March 31 and if we happen to find something we will move out. Looking for a cute cozy 3 bedroom villa. =(

Great to know! DH is heading to the landlord office now. =/ Our LL owns hundreds of villas and our neighbor lived in theirs for 10 years and even during the boom said their rent was never increased this much. I feel like our LL will continue raising our rent every year until it's eventually 300k! (The market rate for a 5 bedroom villa in Jumeirah.) Anyone living in Sheikh ahmed villas know how long or difficult it is to get a villa there? Is there a waiting list?
