Debenham sales are not always what they seem. I bought my DD new underwear in the sale, whilst waiting at check out to pay, I messed around with the sticky price label to find the price had gone up and not down.

Hi We have a cat whose been with us since last 21/2 yrs and we keep the balcony door slightly open all the time for him to use the litter tray as well as to sun-bask. Cats are smart fellows they will get used to it in no time.... you let your cat roam on your balcony? <em>edited by salsB on 14/04/2013</em>

I can somehow understand there maybe terrifying circumstances and situations in people's lives, but I am sorry I just cant even think why anyone would dump a baby and leave it to starve to death. as already said, leave the baby where it could be found alive..... Regardless we do not have the facts surrounding this, at the end of the day, the baby was dumped. Poor little mite...

Riva beach club on the Shoreline, 100 each, very nice, and you can buy lunch and chill on the beach or by the pool. They sell alcohol too. edited by salsB on 24/03/2013 I saw it when I tried out Sophie's last week. How is the water there? As its on the palm, do people actually go inside of the water on the palm? I kept hearing it wasnt clean. I was there last year and had probs with Jelly Fish, last month, the water was clear enough but freezing. The pool is nice thou.

So have leases changed recently then!! thought it used to be 90 days notice and no penalty. Has you LL illegally added the 2 months penalty clause, or is this something new. Are LL's able to put whatever clauses in now and its legal???

Just wanted to say I had no luck. Need another solution, and ideas!!! was thinking a large piece of canvas and neatly putting it together, dont want it to look like an eye sore. It is a shame that someone cannot post it to you as it is not heavy at all and Dubai has it by the truck loads! We are so lucky in Dubai, coming to realise Doha just hasnt got the things we need, and we have to hunt high and low. Took me ages finding a set for my balcony. Need to move back to Dubby!!!! lol,

I have never been scared, alone or pregnant in a country where I could be arrested so I don't know that fear. However, take the baby to a mosque or church! It sickens me to read this as I know several people including myself who if a baby were dropped off we'd care for it/ give it to the proper authorities and not subject it to this kind of torture. In the end it is torture. Poor little innocent soul. Just about to say the same, just completely shocking. I am sure they will find the mother, after all they take samples from all of us. When do they? DNA from our blood!! WOW! I did not expect that, as I knew that DNA tests are always expensive..... well, maybe after all they do it. Still, if the mother really don't want to get herself into trouble, she won't get herself into that state in the first place, once she become pregnant, she should just left, not staying her and dump the poor baby in the desert like disposable thing!!! there are so many ways the mother of that baby could do, and none of them are leaving the baby die like that, I do not understand any situations a woman put herself in, and reach that result. May this baby get the justice he/she did not get in this early life, I really hope the police do get the mother and the father, it's joint responsibility, and it's not only the mother. I highly doubt they will find her through DNA Ok maybe they wont find her thru this route, but hope Sharjah has cameras, like Dubai has!!!!

I use a private company to take me out when I need. Just have ring and they will be there in half hour. To have a company on call will cost you a fortune. I was quote 80 rials per hour waiting time. If you would like the number let me know. <em>edited by salsB on 24/03/2013</em>

Its alot harder than we think. We arent living the dream as people back home assume. it can be a very lonely place, get yourself to a coffee morning, meet new ladies, I know afew ladies that they just dont have enough time in the day!! they do alot of activities, day trips out, craft fairs, etc. See if there is a ladies group in your community. Good luck, hope to see you back on here soon, telling us you have found friends and have found a hobby.

Both times we renewed the old and new passports came back the same day but in different envelopes. I received a phone call from DHL prior to delivery, this was only the once, and the other time they just turned up.

My parents stopped giving us anything, Birthdays and Xmas since we were 18years. I have adapted this theory too to most of the family. My girls get about 100 pound for both their birthday and Xmas. ( They are well over the 18 mark, but still my babies). I like to spoil them on special ocassions throughout the year.

I really never expected to find best friends here. Think its asking too much. Met some wicked people, met some that just like to gossip and put two and two together and get 5. Life is far to short to be involved with people that really don't care about you. We are basically here to earn and save, if we meet people we can relate to then it is a big bonus. Lucky enough found some true friends, friends for life, so I think I am very lucky.

Recently i moved from Dubai to Qatar, after nearly 5 years here, all I can say is, embrace, enjoy and open yourself up and find friends. I love Dubai, will always have very fond memories. Lucky for me I get to fly over every month. Hope you really enjoy your expat life. Good luck. ( have no smilies )

Did you know that visitors (for the 33 nationalities which get automatic visa on arrival) - can have Egate cards? Did you know that if your fingerprint doesn't work on Egate, wipe your brow, in order to work the scan needs an oily fingerprint, wiping your brow will give your finger the oil it needs to work. Where do we get the E gate card from? Thanks

One pointer we picked up was book with air Mauritius instead of EK. It is the same plane(!) but AM significantly cheaper! It is operated by EK. Hope this helps someone save money!! Yes we booked with Emirates and it was an Air Mauritius plane, we could of saved some money If we had known.

We took dollars too. A word of advise, if you plan to hire a car and see the island, make sure you have a full tank. We were driving down the West Coast and there were hardly any petrol stations.

As far as I'm aware all animals coming into Dubai have to arrive as cargo, I assume departing would be the same. Have you tried ringing sky cargo? I found them very helpful in the UK far better than BA and as good as Virgin. In the UK they had a dedicated representative for pets. Ive emailed Dnata Cargo, hoping they can help.

Is it the airline that have quoted you the price and you are just trying to make the booking? Basically I rang EK to make a reservation and to let them know my two cats need to be booked as accompanied excess baggage. I am still being told to wait!!! still no joy today and was informed they will deal with it as a priority.

EK continues to drop the ball. This isn't the first story about moving animals or cargo for that matter. Seems as though someone internally has no idea what they're doing so its easier to say call back, call back in hopes that you won't. Cargo is big business, moving your animal is not a priority. Try another airline. The animal moving companies can help but they will charge a fortune and quite frankly their service is not worth it when you can do it on your own for a fraction of the cost. Now to get a straight answer from an airline! Was quoted 9000dhs,plus the flight just to get them over, I already have their import/export papers in process. <em>edited by salsB on 15/03/2013</em>

Apparently I cannot use Qatar Airways as Hubby needs his RP, as yet he doesnt have one yet, not likely too either in the near future. Still waiting for EK to contact, running out of time now. I received an email from EK last week telling all the procedures, they said once they have the info, then it is an easy process!!! not from where I am sitting.

If I recall last year I was at the UAE exchange sending around 70,000 and they asked for withdrawal receipts from the bank account.
