I would probably do a bank transfer to be on the safe side. I know our bank allow 1million Dirhams. You will probably have to save documents to prove the money is from the sale, as the UK will check for money Laundering, but you probably already know this.

LL last year kept 6250 out of 10,000, this year new LL gave me 2500 out of 5250. They make the slightest excuse. At least Dick Turpin wore an mask to rob people, in Dubai they do this in broad day light. Somehow this is acceptable, they are just robbing B*******.

We moved from Doha to Abu Dhabi last summer with 2 dogs & 3 cats, and EVERYTHING was sorted out and handled by the amazing wonderful Nicky Roffey. She is simply the best, no question, and has the animals' best interests at heart. She also organised a contact at the other end to collect my furry babies from the airport and speed them through customs. If you'd like NIcky's contact details, let me know and I'll pm you. edited by salsB on 12/03/2013

SalsB, I'm sure you won't remember me but I remember your name from Dubai days :) Welcome to Doha, sorry to hear you're having a rough trot. I can put my hand on my heart and say the Doha ladies are much less catty than many of the Dubai ladies. Especially on a Thursday night! Although that was cheap entertainment on occasion! In any case it won't be long before you know all the spots, after all there aren't that many. Take it easy and I hope everything settles for you soon. Hi there, I have ventured upto Villaggio afew times, been back and forth to Dubs my DD was married last weekend. I am sure I will get my barings I will be fine. lol :)

It was meant in a light-hearted way - hence the winky smiley. I'm terribly sorry to hear of the bad time you have been having, but you did ask where Ikea was, and the directions I gave you were correct. I wasn't to know that you've not been able to go out. I won't bother to reply any posts you may write in the future in case I upset you. Kim, sometimes we all get down, moving here was a great strain, you wasnt to know whats going on, end of day I was only asking where Ikea was, I do not drive here, so everything is new to me, I have been an expat for nearly 5 years, just had abit of bother, so not been able to get out and about recently. I am not normally upset easily, look at my Dubai posts, im a hardly little mink, just had a bit of a downer recently.

Get out more!!! Ive had a bad back, had a death, and here I thought Doha girls were alot nicer lot!!! Nah didnt think so. I was told there is a great support network here?? just made my day, thanks Kimmc3. salsB, that must be incredibly frustrating for you to be in a new country, dealing with a death and not feeling up to par. Hopefully you will find a solution for your sore back soon that you will be able to get out and explore a bit. It's hard to keep up to date on who is who on the boards at times and keep track of who the people are who have just arrived. I think we take for granted that there are certain places that people are familiar with such as the major malls (Landmark, City Centre, and Villagio) and tend to assume that people know where these are when we make references to places nearby. And of course, it's highly unlikely that any of us is privy to knowing all the details of your personal life that have prevented you from getting out and about. For myself, I'm going to assume that everything is getting you a bit down and that is the reason why you seem to have taken kimmc3's post which was intended to be lighthearted in the wrong way. We all have bad days (sometimes they linger for a bit and spread over a few weeks.) Hope you are feeling better soon. Perhaps by then the initial IKEA-craziness will die down and you'll be able to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the store. ~ Deb Deb, thank you really appreciate your kind words, x

You need to get out more ;) If you're driving on D Ring rd heading north away from Al Waab, you will eventually see a mall on the rhs with a white tent-like pointy roofs - this is Landmark Mall. on the opposite side of the D Ring you will see a big Lulu, keep going, about 1.5 kms further down on the rhs you will see Ikea - it's fairly conspicuous! You will need to take the off-ramp just before Ikea. HTH. Get out more!!! Ive had a bad back, had a death, and here I thought Doha girls were alot nicer lot!!! Nah didnt think so. I was told there is a great support network here?? just made my day, thanks Kimmc3.

The positive or negative has to do with the Rh factor. If you have it, you're positive and if you don't, you are negative. Two people who have it can produce an offspring that does't have it. It doesn't work the other way. If two people don't have it, the baby won't have it either. It is so confusing, so If the mother is O RH negative and the father is A positive, they still cannot produce a B pos baby?? or can they.

We decided not to bother, our car was 4 years old. It was in an immaculate condition, since arriving the hire car hubby is using has been bashed by other drivers, so If you love your car, then be prepared to get it bumped and battered. Good luck.

The reason why I ask the question, is that I know someone who had their blood done and its B positive, the father is A positive and the mother is O neg. There must an error somewhere as the mother cannot give birth to a B pos baby with a A pos blood group.

It sounds pretty competitive in terms of work wise .. I'd of course live in Dubai when Im married I understand those terms and all .. I guess I would have to get the qualification and experience in order to get a good secure job there.. How would you even get a job whilst living in a different country? Do you contact them and then they would ask you to fly their for an interview or something?? My DD found a job when she arrived, it took time thou. My hubby found his job through an Employment Agency, but it took lots of effort and very time consuming, and alot of time wasters thrown in for good measure.

We took a loan out, each month was always a worry, would be still be here or not, so we always felt burdens as we never wanted to be riddled with debt. Thankfully for us we managed to stay long enough to pay the car off. Hubby has now opted to hire car, this way we have no commitments, and can walk away knowing we owe nothing. We also rent a fully furnished that includes our water, Electric and A/c.

My hubby's company paid him a monthly allowance, it covered the whole rent and we had money left over from it. It all depends on the company. Hubby's new company pay less in housing, but his basic salary is far more than the last company.

Early Feb I decided to use Emirates instead of FlyDubai. T3 - took 30 mins to check in, massive queue for Immigration, then a long walk to the gate, in total it took 2 hours, then we still had to get on a bus to the plane. On return a very long walk, stood in Immigration for 30 mins ( queue wasnt to long this time) waited for luggage, was able to go to duty free, then collect my bag, total timing, approx, 1.5 hours. T2 - today, no queue to check in, straight thru Immigration, in departures within 15 mins, plane was delayed for 30 mins, short bus ride to plane, on arrival of Doha, Immigration queue was 15 mins, my bag was there waiting. Team FlyDubai.

Maybe give us some details on what budget you have. I know a good real estate agent, will find her number and let you know. for rental is will be between 55000 - 70000ish for a little one bed. ive seen lots about but would like to have a good agent to work on my behalf thanks Just emailed to get the agents work number, will post as soon as I receive it. Rents are on the increase, take a look on Dubizzle and see what is available.
